On April 26, 2023, Queen Mathilde of Belgium presented the Queen Mathilde Prize "ISEE/IDEA/IDO" of the Queen Mathilde Fund, held at the Royal Palace in Brussels. Just before the award ceremony, the Queen had a meeting with the youth jury, which again chose the laureate of the Queen Mathilde Prize from various projects submitted this year. The project aims to encourage young people's entrepreneurship.
DRIES VAN NOTEN Doromos Midi Dress
That´s a very unflattering sleeve style, especially for someone like Mathilde who´d be better served by more substantial sleeves to balance out her short torso.
ReplyDeleteI like this style of sleeve and think it does give a wider look to her upper body balancing the hips. The dress is beautiful and suits the queen well.

I quite like the sleeves on this dress. Give the outfit an updated chic appeal as well as the addition of the belt. Mathilde's hair is lovely in the updo.
DeleteLovely dress, with good strong colour which always suits Queen Mathilde . Must be warmer in Belgium than it is in Scotland! Like the Queen's hair like this too.
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks lovely, but something about the waist area and black belt. I prefer the look of the model, no belt.
ReplyDeleteRight!
DeleteLa reine Mathilde est superbe dans cette robe imprimée près du corps avec une petite ceinture dont le noir se retrouve dans la pochette et les chaussures ; les cheveux coiffés par une sorte de petit chignon lui vont à merveille !
ReplyDeleteShe looks stunning each time she wears Dries Van Noten imo! The first picture is pure elegance!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think Queen Mathilde would have looked better if she had worn the dress beltless, like the model, she still looks beautiful. Her makeup is modest, her hair is well done, and her smile is radiant.
ReplyDeleteWithout belt that's exactly what I think. Love the choices of Mathilde in general very much
DeleteYes I agree and I like the sleeves.
Delete100% gorgeous!!! Lots of good choices here--narrow belt and simple accessories, elegant hairstyle plus her beautiful, warm smile.

Nice comment: 100% agree,

Mathilde embodies elegant warmth. Her sartorial choices are sensible but also lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove the look, and her hair even though it's short is always so versatile

Old lady vibes. The sleeves is so unflattering on a grown woman. What are they thinking?
ReplyDelete@ Anon. 03:12. Queen Mathilde looks not like an old lady. She stays true to her style and does not try to look younger than she is because when you do that you obtain the opposite effect. If every woman must have the same style : long hair, very thin body, dark eye make-up the world would look boring.
DeleteAgain, for me, a frock doing its job but not offering anything else.
Delete11:08 you do realise that she could take a Maria Teresa? MT looks 10-15 years younger and so smart after she cut her hair short. So no, not everyone has to have long hair to look younger. Unfortunately M has always had a matron look hairstyle, and I don't mean that in a nasty way. There are always little things we could do to look better also the royals.
DeleteHow can you compare GD M Teresa with Q Mathilde ?. They are 2 completely different women. Perhaps MT's hairstyle makes her look younger but not 10 or 15 years. And if you always dress the wrong way the effect of the hair is nihil. Because that is what GD MT is doing. She always seems to favor dresses and outfits that make her look thicker and broader than she is. And than you have one other thing : her face has been rebuilded completely. She doesn't ressemble at all the young beautiful bride and young mother she was when she got first married.
DeleteLike you said "there are always little things we could do to look better also the royals". If you look at QM today when visiting KMSKA Antwerp, she looks great, she looks also younger than she is and her hair is not matronly. She has wonderful legs and she can show them. I hope she never will do plastic surgery and ruin her beautiful face. But I think she won't she is far too intelligent to do so.
I like Queen Mathilde in this dress. It is a dress style that suits her very well. She is an elegant queen smiling all the time and @Debra Queen Mathilde's make-up is always modest. You will never see her with very dark eyeshadow and she only uses red lipstick for a gala or with an evening dress and/or if the dress is very red too.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress although would prefer it without the belt which draws attention to her high natural waistline.
