On April 16, 2023, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore of Belgium watched the Red Star Line musical at the Studio 100 Pop-Up Theater in Puurs. After the performance, the royal family met with the cast and crew. The show is inspired by the story of the shipping company Red Star Line and the life stories of its passengers.
The performance with more than 100 actors on stage tells the story of Belgians who crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1923 in search of a better life. The Red Star Line was a shipping company that operated between Antwerp and America. About 2 million Europeans traveled via this road to the United States and Canada to settle there permanently.
Not quite sure what the queen is wearing but I love the heather color.

Agreed, great color but seems she's covering up a ruffled blouse with a cape or sleeveless coat? Unusual choice....

I think Mathilda's outfit is quite appropriate for the event.
DeleteIt was as well Princess Eléonore's as King Philippe's birthday on the 16th and a good idea to go to a musical with the whole family. That's what modern parents do these days going with the whole family to a concert or a musical or to the theater when they wish to celebrate a birthday or having another family gathering.
ReplyDeleteKing Philip'anniversary is the 15 April. Princess Eleonore the 16 April.
DeleteWish we get to see clear view on what the princesses were wearing, with their similar turtle neck top.
ReplyDeleteRavissante Mathilde dans ces deux couleurs qui s'associent à ravir ; j'aimerais quand même mieux voir l'ensemble de sa tenue !
ReplyDeleteThe blouse with the odd bit hanging out on her right top shoulder area does not match the rest of the outfit. The colors are nice, so the only issue is with the bit hanging out. She is a lovely woman. Maggi
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to celebrate some family birthdays! I already saw this musical, it's really good. In this theatre in Puurs, they have 8 seating areas controlled with computers, who move around on stage. It's a really special way to see a musical, it lets you get really close in action or emotional scenes. I hope they enjoyed themselves!
ReplyDeleteMust have been fantastic for the young actors: the whole royal family, casually dressed, to their performance!
ReplyDeleteLove this family and their style,
Mabel
While I like the colour of the Queen's outfit, the long cape/waistcoat seems a bit random. It also seems a very informal look for an evening at the theatre. Prince Gabriel may just be beating Count Nikolai into top spot for the most handsome young male royal
ReplyDeleteThat's how modern people go to see performances like that. It is not in a narrow old theatre, but in a big building where shows for television are put together. If you go there all dressed up, you are the one that is looking odd because all the other are dressed casual.
DeletePeople dress very casual for musicals. They would have been overdressed otherwise.
DeleteIts hard to tell exactly what she is wearing, but the color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde wore this ensemble already twice this year. There were pictures of 19 January when she came back from Davos and from 14 February when she visited a school. It is not easy to wear with a lot of fabric on the right shoulder and on top of that the cape. I love the different shades of pink.
