On March 17, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot. The parade ended with a march-past where The Princess took the salute. Afterwards, the Prince and Princess met with soldiers and their families. Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.
Catherine has better green outfits than this, and I'm not a fan of this particular green colour. I also think that the hat's too 'frou-frou'. However she is happy and smiling, and she plays her role and duties well as Colonel of this regiment.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
According to British newspapers this colour is somewhere in the uniform of the Brigade ( I couldn’t find it..).
DeleteNice model though, the hat maybe a bit too much,
Mabel
Mabel, it's the colour of the plume in the bearskin hats the Regiment wears. It matches to a t(ee).
DeleteThere's no accouting for taste. :-) I just wanted to post that I thought this was a particularly successful outfit. :-)
DeleteNot fan of her outfit.
Delete@quakeress: You thought this outfit was successful? Well you're right - there is no accounting for taste :-)
Delete- Anon 9:13
I'm with quakeress - This outfit is definitely a win. Lovely color, and love the hat!
DeleteAs a matter of fact, I do. I like the color; I think there is a great contrast between the hat with its light, airy fluttery thingies on top and the rather severe, military cut of the coat. The pattern of the coat is very good, it fits like a glove and has elements of interest, such as the folds that accentuate the shoulders and the placement of the buttons. Paired with the high heels, there is a nice contrast between the femininity of the hat and heels and the severity of the coat. I think quite a bit of thought and a LOT of craftsmanship went into the outfit, and I appreciate that.
DeleteWell, to each their own. This outfit isn't one that I'd assign any element of craftmanship to, let alone a lot of it. Some minor style elements such as collar and shoulder detail perhaps, but that's not outstanding craftmanship to me. This is a long coat doing double duty as a dress, and to me Catherine has far better and stylish long coats in attractive greens that she has worn before. But again, to each their own. Be well.

Maybe you are much better at sewing than I am; I must confess I always find it tricky to get clothing to fit really well (granted, Kate is easy to dress, not a lot of pesky curves to translate into a pattern, but anyway), and so I find it very gratifying if somebody gets it right, as Kate's team obviously did. :-)
DeleteCheers :-)
I agree. Beautiful colour, but I believe the whole ensemble is too "old" for Catherine. And the hat while beautiful is too much.
DeleteLove this shade of teal! It's a fresh, vibrant, and exciting colour for early springtime. The proportions, shapes, and details are great, especially at the shoulders and cuffs. My fave accent is the pleated chiffon on the hat, just love how it gives a contrasting texture to the monochrome ensemble. This is definitely going into my "all time fave style moments" look-book.
ReplyDeleteВера 💚🦋
Yes luv ❤️ it....big fan
DeleteSame here. I think she looks lovely. And definitely am also adding it to my "all time fave style moments".
DeleteT
Absolutely, I totally agree. Lovely outfit.
DeleteCheck to see how beautifully this color matches the outfits and pay close attention to her buttons! They also mirror the outfit! Stunning. Sue
ReplyDeleteI have just read that the reason Kate wore teal was very deliberate. The color matches the plumes in the guards hats, and the button placement on her coat matches the placement on their uniforms. This was done in honor of her assuming the position as Colonel of the Irish Guards.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this info. What a great idea for her outfit. Think the whole ensemble is fabulous. Special love for the hat and shoes.
DeleteThanks for the info. Went back to the pictures and now that I know this , it makes sense. The exact same color.
DeleteElegant princess !
ReplyDeleteThoughtful of the PoW to choose the colour of the Irish Guards plume. As well as the sequence of the buttons.
ReplyDeleteI love femininity of the hat, in contrast to the structure of the coat. All in all, a wonderful first StPatrick’s Day for the new Colonel of the Irish Guards. Bea
The POW looks wonderful! She had such a spectacular figure after 3 children! The coat dress was beautifully crafted and the color is great on Catherine. MR
ReplyDeleteBelle allure dans cette nouvelle robe mais au niveau du chapeau, j'aurais bien vu un peu moins de fanfreluches ; superbes escarpins de la même couleur !
ReplyDeleteElegant princess, God bless!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour coat, hat and shoes. I only think she should gain a few pounds to look better !!
ReplyDeleteStunning and gorgeous look by the Princess of Wales. Her smile is a winner all the time!
ReplyDeleteThey both look relaxed and obviously have fun. Great!
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteВера 💚🦋
As a SA citizen.... I think Kate is great and has a lot to offer. Tina
ReplyDeleteWilliam and Catherine both look exceedingly relaxed and enjoying the occasion today. Catherine was especially lovely with the coordination of the guards in her choice of color and placement of the buttons on the coat. Annie

ReplyDeleteTotaly agree!
DeleteTotaly agree!
DeleteI don't love the color, nor the style, but knowing it all had a meaning make it beautiful. Plus she is just a pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe way she carries her self and het duties is impeccable.
And to add some more positive remodels they both look happy engaging with the public.
So, once again, perfect work
Luna
Not my favorite color on Catherine for this event but apparently was chosen to match part of the uniforms. Her hat embellishment is an interesting contrast with the very structured lines of the coat. I was trying to determine if she’s wearing sapphire or emerald earrings. Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteEmeralds!
DeleteBepa 💚🦋
Of course this a lovely dress, hat, shoes, all perfect. However, this model, that Kate wears a lot, makes her always so very thin/slim around the waist. I prefer seeing her in a dress with a circle skirt and knee length
DeleteVery lovely. Like the coat and hat. Always elegant and in style. William looks very dapper in uniform. css
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! Great look and style with care taken to honor Catherine's new position as Colonel of the Irish Guards. William looks so handsome in his uniform.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Fabulous as always...luv William and Catherine...wishing much happiness 😘
ReplyDeleteThe photos always show this event to be fun for everyone involved! Love all of the elements of Kate’s outfit from head to toe, beautiful cut and fit. I’m not a fan of teal but appreciate that she mixed it up from the traditional green this year. Well done!

ReplyDeleteYou need to change your reading material.
Delete?????????
DeleteAnother comment of our "professional" critic ... If this reading material were of any interest, I read she would be expecting a fourth child... Who is lieing, most probably both. How many readers did they win through these pieces of sensationalism, that is the real point, I am afraid ?
DeleteI will probably never understand such nasty comments, Anon21:23. And I can recall that the blog owner kindly asks not to post anonymously, but wants people to sign their comments. Not doing so always gives the notion of hiding behind anonymity while harrassing others (in this particular instance), which I think speaks ill of any character.
DeleteIt's not really green and it's a bit too old fashion in my opinion. If the photos weren't in color, I'd think I was looking at photos from 1943 instead of 2023! I realize her outfit is supposed to have symbolism but it's a bit to far into the "costume" side of things. I wonder if a shorter hemline would be an improvement. It's funny; in the beginning her hemlines were too short. Now they seem to be regularly a bit too long.
ReplyDeleteEuropa.
Agree with all your points.
Delete- Anon 9:13
This is a beautiful teal outfit, the hat looks fabulous. The diamond and emerald cluster earrings are nice, but are rather mundane. Something of more substance would have looked better and given more of a impact. A decent pair of diamond earrings would have been better for overall look.
ReplyDeleteIreland is made up of 40 shades of green Kate got it !!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot understand why she never has a handbag or a clutch. I looks so silly without it.
ReplyDeleteThe 4th photo explains the Princess of Wales colour choice for her outfit. Lovely and classic. Edwina
ReplyDeleteLove her outfit. She looks like a queen. Still amazed by her ability to always wear the right thing. As somebody before said: immaculate taste. I adore the color.
ReplyDeleteI don’t like the colour of her outfit.
ReplyDeleteI am getting tired of seeing her all of the time now: it’s like she is in your face: how about the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
How about them .we hardly ever see them. Sorry but enough please
I saw pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visiting E. and afterwards their daughter in St Andrews, didn’t you?
DeleteMabel
If you don’t like the wales just scroll on than, they work a lot that’s why we see them so often, you don’t have to be so rude towards them just SCROLL ON
DeleteWell, that she would appear for St. Patrick's Day was quite clear because she took over the position as the Regiment's Colonel (Irish Guards). And the Duchess of Edinburgh has been out and about too (and was featured as well, though, maybe not on this blog, but that is solely the blog owner's decision). Should you indeed get tired of the PoW, then please feel free to skip the posts dealing with her. Easy, isn't it?
DeleteA beautiful elegant & real princess so not pretends to be one. It comes so naturally Mary
ReplyDeleteMa che bel Colonnello su tacchi sbalorditivi!
ReplyDeleteMi piace sempre.
Rossella
I love the colour of her outfit…but am not fond of the style, which I find too old fashioned. I prefer more modern and trendy outfits for her age (like those worn by Mary, Charlene and Letizia).
ReplyDeleteJudy
@ Judy. I agree. Each time I see her, I must think about the black and white movies of the years 1945 - 1955.
DeleteThe style is not old-fashioned, not sure why people have to say such silly things. She is current, pays attention to small details, and is lovely and a great Mum to her three young children. G & C
ReplyDeleteWhilst I understand there’s somewhere an obscure similar shade of teal in the Irish Guards feathers, it’s not the colour of the shamrock nor the Kelly green one associates with this event. It seemed an odd choice to me. She also already has a coat dress and beautiful hat in this exact shade on her closet from a few years back. I think she also proved she’s out of tune with the British and Irish average folk, all struggling with the economic environment and raising cost of living. When she has at least 7 or 8 beautiful green coats with great designs in her closet… many of which only saw one outing. Spending more than she really needs on clothes that sit unused for decades (not to mention the impact of the environment-which presumably at least William actually cares about, is not going to set the right example. In particular by contrast with other members of the royal family. To me it’s a wasted opportunity to prove some leadership here.
ReplyDeleteAnyway… For the unusual choice she made - the cut isn’t necessarily great. It’s also pulling at her shoulders and underarms. Not particularly flattering either for her body type, she looks better and more elegant in a fit and flare silhouette in my opinion (of which she has a few Kelly green ones already in her closet… just saying).
CH
Agree with you completely.
DeleteCF
O dear, how negative can you get.
DeleteI think a great deal of the British people like their heirs to the throne well dressed when the occasion needs it, it is a way of paying respect to the receiving end, in this case : the regiment.
I gather you must have seen the many pictures of K. in casual clothes, for example when she visits a school of young children, etc.or when she is at home.
Mabel
Oh, I totally agree. British people will always prefer to see their royals dressed well. Which by no means is the same thing as recklessly spending on outfits only to use them once. I believe equating well dressed with pointless consumption is a mark of a bygone era. We now realize (at least some do) what that does to the planet and our society. We no longer know when to stop.
DeleteCH
Bit boring and not flattering colour.
ReplyDelete@G&C, like everybody on this thread I don’t know the Princess personally, she is perhaps a lovey human being, she seems pleasant in her public engagements, but your statement about her being a great mother is just baffling, so how do you know, what is your measure, and if she wasn’t, would you know? Please stop these character analysis, you have no facts, and is irrelevant to purpose of this thread.
ReplyDeleteI do not post often but want to if only to say that she absolutely looks smashing here. I cannot help but be reminded of all that she learned while Her Majesty was alive, having to follow many rules, but learning how to best represent the family, the firm, the country. She really has grown into this role.
