On the second day of their state visit to Germany, King Charles and the Queen Consort visited Wittenbergplatz Food Market. Afterwards, the Queen Consort, accompanied by First Lady Elke Büdenbender, visited the Komishe Oper in Berlin to learn more about the opera company’s outreach projects and community engagement. King Charles and the Queen Consort then visited the Bundestag (lower house of parliament) in Berlin.
DeleteQueen Camilla looks great but the first lady steals the show. She looks terrific in this pantsuit. Very fashionable.
ReplyDeleteAs a host you're not supposed stealing the show nor waving.
DeleteOf course is Mrs. Büdenbender allowed to wave. This is not something solely reserved for royals. Our president and his wife can do so as well, without asking anyone for permission. And "stealing the show" does not necessarily mean something negative. Our First Lady was just dressed a little less conservative, yet chic, she took it up a notch; however, I am sure both parties briefed each other beforehand on the dresscode and the general appearances. Q Camilla chose to go with a subdued look, Mrs. Büdenbender with a more vibrant colour. Both looked good.
DeleteThe Queen is looking very stylish on this trip. I like this coat, the style is on her rather than her usual straight design. I think a more sheer stocking would have softened it that little bit more.
ReplyDeleteYes nice coat, for once a different styling than usual, but I cannot prevent myself from thinking that she looks so old globally, compared to queen Silvia for instance.
DeleteI must say I respect Camilla tremendously for taking on this job at her age when she could be at home, comfortable, doing something she loves. She really seems to love Charles very much.
ReplyDeleteRight? I thought the same recently - I guess the job comes with a lot of perks, but it must be incredibly stressful, too - especially when you're new to it, well past working age, not the most beloved person & under constant surveillance by the public. I don't care what others say, I like & respect Camilla tremendously.

After knowingly becoming the wife of the King of England, a historic figure himself, and the way she got there, she couldn't possibly even entertain the notion about staying at home, comfortably doing what she liked, while letting him go about his business on his own. She knew what she was getting into.

For a state visit this is a remarkably dull outfit for the Queen Consort. Conversely, the First Lady's outfit seems more suited to an evening event.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on both counts.
DeleteThis state visit amuses me greatly. Both ladies are so opposite in their ideas of dress. There is zero common ground between them and it is very noticeable when they are together. First the state dinner, and now this.

Queen Camilla obviously will not became a friend of the first Lady.

I like brown color for a coat, but this coat worn by Camilla needs de linting badly. I don't like the diamond earrings or the brooch, the gold necklace can barely been seen.
ReplyDeleteThe first lady looks superb, I love this green pantsuit, the fit is perfect, she looks well groomed and elegant
Very nice combo from Camilla. Also love the green suit from the Germany's First Lady but MO the pant is too long. css
ReplyDeleteFinally Q Camilla wears a more modern coat. It suits her. The color is good, something between dark brown and aubergine. And she decided to put on a pair of nice shoes A pity the coat is decorated with too many brooches.
ReplyDeleteMrs Büdenbender's green coat suits her very well except that the pants are a bit too wide and too long.
Q. Camilla keeps it calm in this aubergine (?) coat. The green outfit of the First Lady is smashing!
ReplyDeleteMabel
Hmmm, Camilla looks good, but the overall look is a bit dull, especially for a daytime opera visit, where you're going to be surrounded by colour. Ms Büdenbender has done the right thing, the suit is brilliant & she really stands out in the crowd.

Agree with Mabel and Nika.
ReplyDeleteFor many years i was also on the Lady Di's team, but Camilla has shown time after time to be in a true gem to be the royal family.
DeleteThe love and support between King and her is palpable, she is true to her style, does her job, goes around living a very public life without doing any harm. And indeed now when is time for her to enjoy the grandchildren keeps on working.
Kudos to her
