On March 16, 2023, Japanese Princess Kako visited Kairakuen Park, one of the three great gardens of Japan in Mito city. Kairakuen is built in 1842 and it is known as an ume (plum) tree. The garden features a forest of 3000 trees of over one hundred different plum tree varieties with white, pink and red blossoms. Japanese Princess Kako then visited Ibaraki Prefectural Mito School for the Deaf.

I really like the skirt, a lot more appealing for a young person than the usual two piece suits the Japanese royal ladies wear.
The shoes are too old-fashioned for her.

Beautiful outfit and colour !! Shoes should be dark blue or cobalt

This is a beautiful outfit! The colour is wonderful for her and the ombré skirt adds interest. The only thing I’d change are the shoes, to a nude sling back. The white pumps look a bit clunky to my eye. (V.M.)

  5. Le haut de couleur bleu-cobalt est associée à un bas tout en légèreté dont la couleur pastel dégradée lui va superbement bien ; une pochette et des chaussures blanches la flatteraient encore plus !

  6. Had she worn a pair of shoes more modern, this would have been a beautiful outfit altogether.

She looks fantastic, what a marvellous shade of blue. I also like the shoes, very modern for Japanese female royals.

Lovely ensemble. I almost like the slippers more than the shoes.

Princess Kako visited there to plant a cherry tree. A cherry tree had been divided from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where successive emperors had lived, but it had been knocked down by a typhoon in the year the current emperor acceded to the throne. It was cherished and loved by the local people because it originated from the Shishinden, the most important hall where the enthronement ceremony used to be held. People were delighted that Kako happily attended the ceremony without a mask and planted a young tree again.
Her blue dress looks nice in the spring garden. The color of the skirt is a gradation from blue to white. At the ceremony, she stood on the red carpet, and the white looked pale pink (the color of cherry), which was so beautiful. Her earrings were also in the shape of cherry blossoms. She brought the season of Sakura to Japan, which will be at its most beautiful in a week or two.

I know it is hard to get information from multiple countries, and I appreciate the operators of this blog.
I will introduce you to some video channels and websites of major news organizations.

This channel sometimes provides news videos of the Japanese Imperial Family in English.

It is in Japanese, but here you can find weekly updates on the schedule of the Imperial Family, and you can also find news articles. The articles and photos from the early Showa period (mid-20th century) are also available. (Some of them are chargeable).

I’d suggest to our fellow bloggers to try to find some time to look at these videos. They are a “must”.
A good insight into Princess Kako’s wardrobe.
A very beautiful and talented Princess.
May she continue to do her good work for the Japanese Imperial Family.

Thank you for the reply. Glad to be of help.
I agree she is a beautiful and talented Princess.
She is busy working for the Japanese Imperial Family.
Yet, some believe the negative campaign of tabloids and slander her and her family. Since the marriage of Princess Mako, it has become worse. The Imperial Household Agency sees these as problems and is considering SNS for the Imperial Family, but this has not been realized.
You may encounter some nasty comments, but don't worry. Many Japanese people love the Imperial Family.

    2. I'd say that that the shoes are practical for the outdoor part of her visit.
Planting trees etc. Such a joy to see her.
I hope there is a nice Prince waiting around the corner to sweep her off her feet.🧡

She looks absolutely lovely. Much better outfit too, more youthful and fun. Seems the Japanese imperial house is relaxing a bit the rules.
