On the 3rd day of their state visit to South Africa, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a concert at the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria in honor of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for his hospitality during their state visit to South Africa. Tomorrow, the King and Queen and the Belgian delegation will visit Cape Town.
DRIES VAN NOTEN
Lovely of the Belgian Royals to host this event. I very much like the Queen’s outfit. She is hands down one of my favourite royals.

No body has fun. Queen Matilde is beautiful in Dries van Noten. The president could not make it, you see sadnes.

I like this flowing, colourful, busy, tropical print. It suits well for a simple top and slender pants, though it's hard to tell whether that's what Mathilde is wearing or if it is a long column dress. Either way, I think she looks great in it. Her lovely height makes all the difference for a comfortable outfit and print like this.

The design of the actual dress is good, the fit is great, but I don't like the pattern on the fabric, too busy for my taste. Regardless the Queen looks lovely. I love the color choice of her clutch.
ReplyDeleteFully agree.
DeleteI agree with you, The pattern takes som getting used to but it is an overall good look. Ladyofthemanor
Trini.
Oh dear me--I realize the negative reaction I am having to this dress/pantsuit is my own personal dislike of big, busy prints--I do not like this outfit!!! At least it fits well.

Although the pattern is very busy, the beautiful colours make this one a winner for me.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks stunning! She looks so elegant in this lovely gown! MR
ReplyDelete'Am in Africa, let me blend in and wear all the colours of the rainbow' only to find that they have adapted to western culture of wearing black for an evening event
ReplyDeleteI see one lady in black standing next to the Queen in the last pic and another further along the line.. However, at the end of the line I see two women in bright colours so perhaps Queen Mathilde was dressed entirely appropriately. She looks lovely in this vibrant print
DeleteNot true, look at some lovely colourful dresses in the pictures!
DeleteAnother beautifull Dries van Nooten dress!,
ReplyDeleteGreat design and colours!

As much as I like Queen Mathilde in Dries Van Nooten I would prefer a round neck or a little V-neck. Dresses or blouses with a high neck don't suit QM very well. Beautiful fabric. She adopted already the new style of clutches : small and long. She is so trendy and fashionable and yet sophisticated. Marcella
ReplyDeleteI am still on the fence about the dress, and agree with a lot of what Marcella wrote.
DeleteI agree, with a lower neckline this would be stunning. As it is Q. Mathilde is just drowning in fabric. (V.M.)
DeleteMagnifiques motifs très colorés qui vont très bien à Mathilde mais une légère encolure en V aurait été plus à son avantage ; jolie pochette mais j'aurais aimé mieux voir ses chaussures !
ReplyDeleteAs others have stated, this is a busy pattern, though she has carried it off well with her height and lovely smile.
ReplyDeleteA bit overwhelming, at least for me. Q Mathilde looks good anyway. css
ReplyDeleteThis is not just a visit! I wonder what MoU was signed to handover which Government entity to them!
