King Charles III and the Queen Consort are making a three-day state visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. On March 29, the King and the Queen were welcomed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender at Brandenburg Gate. The King and the Queen's visit will include engagements highlighting the importance of sustainability and community and the strengths of the British-German relationship.
If its cold enough to wear black boots, then why wear a collarless coat that does not match with the hat? A nice black scarf could have tied it all together. The pin is just another tone on tone. Edwina
ReplyDeleteThere is „Kopfsteinpflaster“ at the Brandenburger Tor, not easy to walk on, so she was well advised. High heels are problematic there, as you can watch Elke Büdenbender ( who looks lovely here - except the hat…). e.
DeleteI saw other pictures where the colour of the coat is more turquoises and perfectly marches the jolly hat.
DeleteI think Q.C. Is very well dressed as is the presidents wife,
Mabel
You are right Edwina. Why always those awful boots? She definitely doesn't know how to dress well. And the lady in the white hat?
DeleteYes, all revleant points.

Elégantes toutes les deux même si j'aurais voulu voir madame Büdenbender avec un chapeau en feutre pour s'harmoniser à un manteau plus chaud ; toute sa tenue me paraît bien légère !
ReplyDeleteThe boots are back 😂
ReplyDeleteOnce a country girl who was born to be with the horses, hounds and boots, will always be a country girl attached to her horses, hounds and boots.
DeleteLove the colour and texture of this coat. Sorry the black boots made the trip but they’re just about okay with the coat. The colour of the hat is a bit off, neither matching nor contrasting. Still a good start to the tour. Love the First Lady’s red coat but the hat is like a summer sun hat.
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
I like the coat and black accessories, although i would have chosen a different brooch.
ReplyDeleteMrs Büdenbender looks great as well, but the hat looks a bit summery, maybe the pictures?

Camilla is looking ridiculous in that old same look of a coat. The upper part is also too tight. The black boots are not matching with the light blue color. Why can't she wear normal shoes and natural looking tights. Queen Elisabeth did that all her life, I've never seen her with boots at official visits or ceremonies.
ReplyDeleteIt’s winter in Europe, with an especially cold snap these past few days. Boots are completely acceptable here and if she’s worn them often it’s probably because she likes them and they work for her 75 year old feet. I think Camilla and Charles look great! - Gabi
DeleteQueen Camilla is her own self and should not have to stop wearing boots because the late Queen didn't. I too would of had liked to see a more impressive brooch. She has the best jewels to chose from so flaunt them! Fitzhugh

ReplyDeleteVery rude! Please don't post that kind of hate messages!
DeleteWhat an unpleasant comment> Could it be removed, Helen?
DeleteThis is disgusting!
DeleteHat by Philip Tracey, coat by Bruce Oldfield. A Turquoise brooch that belonged to the late QE II. I like the outfit in general, even with the colour of hat and coat slightly mismatching. I am also already able to tell that Queen Camilla is wearing the Greville Honeycomb Tiara (her go-to piece) to a black and silver gown for the banquet.
ReplyDeleteGenerally, I don’t like her fashion choices, but I truly like this outfit, the coat is very well tailored and the color is flattering on almost everybody, I also think that it’s simple enough that can be worn with boots. As hats go, this one is attractive enough, I wish she would’ve chosen a less formal style, so it could be paired with the boots that are definitely informal, in any case, I think she looks fine.

The blue color is beautiful, and I like the hat with the feather detail. However, I'm sick of the boots. Ms. Budenbender looks lovely.

I love this Bruce Oldfield design. The colour and texture is lovely. The two toned hat is perfect. The 1st Lady looks lovely. Hats off to her for wearing heels on the cobbles!
ReplyDeleteI like this fresh 'sky blue' colour for Spring, but I don't like it on Camilla.
ReplyDeleteThe dark black boots and gloves seem to lessen any cheerful effect by saying "Winter is still here."

Winter still is here - it’s been freezing the last few days! (Lutzi)
DeleteWell, winter is indeed still here, 5 degrees C plus cold wind
DeleteHorrible boots. The coat looks cheap.
ReplyDeleteWhy write these completely negative comments? Just because we can comment doesn’t mean we should. Let’s aim for kindness and eradicating negativity… it’s still completely possible to discuss fashion without writing in a way that would likely really upset the wearer if she ever read here. DeleteI wouldn't say that of a Bruce Oldfield creation. Actually, it looks good on her (as BO designs mostly do on Q Camilla).
DeleteThe temperature in Berlin was 7°C today which is not very warm. The light bleu coat looks a bit summerish. So if Camilla wanted boots, black probably not the best color for accessories. It might take time (or a lot of time) to have accepted that a royal lady can wear boots when she wants to, as everybody else; of course there are some traditions or style, up to her to use her own judgement .... Until maybe comments in the press raise the issue. At least she is showing that she does bother a lot about comments from here.
ReplyDeleteThe hat and coat look splendid, not so sure about the boots, regardless Camilla looks great. Love the addition of a brooch on her coat, a perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeletePretty colors of blue on Queen Camilla--and I love seeing her dig into the brooch vault to wear another beautiful piece from Queen Elizabeth II collection. Glad to see her dressed warmly (including the boots) today as it was cold in Berlin. People seem to forget that Camilla is 75 years old--perhaps she is sensitive to cold and that's why she wears boots. I am the type of person who needs to keep my feet and ankles warm--maybe Camilla is the same.

Regarding QC Camilla, this is close but not enough. In other pics her dress underneath matches her hat. I think if her coat had been closer to that coloring it would have pulled it together (even with the black boots) due to being a deeper, saturated value with more of a wintery feel. This coat (IMHO) is a mismatch with both the hat and accessories. I think it would be better with cream/winter white to beige or even camel colored accessories. Maybe she had a spill on the original coat right before exiting the plane:).
ReplyDeleteAlso why, why, why does she have continually have clothing made with a seam sitting horizontally across the widest portion of her chest. I have never seen any woman wear anything (tops, dresses, coats) with a seam in such a ridiculous placement. Any seamstress working on her clothing surely has better skills to fit her figure than this.

This must be a new coat great color and fit. I actually like the booth on this occasion, walking on Kopfstein Strasse is a killer. I broke a few heels that way. Hope this State visit is a success! Looking forward for day 2 css
ReplyDeleteAnother article stated the QC was trying to emulate the color scheme the Queen wore the last time she was in Germany in 2015. Sadly, this outfit just was not up to snuff. A plain coat, no collar, black boots, and the hat was certainly not up to any standards that she has tried to achieve during this transition time. G & C
ReplyDeleteI think she looks lovely here. The outfit is simple, yet chic. The brilliant shade of blue on the coat is a great color for her. I personally love the boots but maybe not with this particular look. I feel like the hat wasn’t the right choice to go with this coat but she made it work and looks dazzling
