On the second day of their state visit to Slovakia, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima hosted a concert performed by trumpeter Eric Vloeimans, Juan Pablo Dobal, Oliver’s Cinema and Holland Baroque at the Slovak National Theatre in honor of President Zuzana Caputova for her hospitality during their state visit to Slovakia.

This dress seems a bit too young for Queen Maxima, i prefer the longer length from the model. The belt looks awful with her short dress and only highlights her curvy body, seems like it’s supporting her sagging breast … 🫣
ReplyDeleteMaxima is just stunning. The color and the fabric of the dress - so beautiful. And her hair and makeup too. BUT then… the belt. It is just overwhelming, and destroys that whole feminine retro look.
ReplyDeleteYes the belt such a pity
DeleteLovely gowns and dress. Maxima and the First lady are stunning. The other guests look good too. css
ReplyDeleteI have understood that Slovakia has Lady President. A First Lady is the wife of male president?
DeleteMargot
I agree overall with css, even if going into some detailed aspects it is always possible to have reservations. Regarding the belt, it is part of the planned design, it is intended to attract the attention, so far so good for me.
DeleteSHE is the President of Slovakia, please read the text! The President looks stunning in that beautiful qown.
DeleteWe do need a IWD every day...in Slovakia they have a first husband - Siv
DeleteIt appears her ankles were starting to swell.
ReplyDeleteHer dress is nice but maybe a lower heel. I noticed in her daytime outfit, she changed shoes.
It seems like Queen Maxima is the only one in a shorter dress? I like the dress, but maybe not for this occasion. The president is looking fantastic (again, I must say). The lady in red is also wearing a really lovely dress.
ReplyDeleteSidenote: I really wish someone would tell Maxima she should pose with her feet closed. It would look so much more elegant. She always does this, and paying attention to this would be a big improvement in a lot of pictures.
Maybe some royal ladies need to do what Princess Mary did before she joined the royal family, a deportment class.
ReplyDeleteIt would make a big difference to many of the ladies, it teaches you to hide your flaws and we all have them.
Sometimes a better bra (straps pulled up) and good posture can make such a difference to an outfit.
QM is wearing yet another odd dress. Her tights are too bright/light/shiny, just accentuates her thick legs and swollen ankles. The length of the dress is too short for a woman of her age, and the belt is supporting her chest, rather using a thinner belt which might have helped the overall look. Nonanna
ReplyDeleteMaxima is one of my favorites and appreciate the rewear, but this outfit is not her best. The shiny dress and pantyhose paired with these accessories looks unpolished. The longer version of the dress with a thinner belt in a color, or gold, would have been a better option. I do like her hairstyle and, of course, her happy attitude!
ReplyDeleteI don't think her black nail varnish links with her outfit.
ReplyDelete@Annonymous 23:19, I totally agree about Maxima’s odd standing stance. It has bothered me for years. I like Maxima’s dress today well enough but, once again, the President looks better, more dignified, and more elegant.
ReplyDeleteYes always her standing stance. I think it's because of too high heels
DeleteThe Queen looks magnificent! MR
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks great here--but that huge belt nearly ruins the elegant dress. I also think the heels she is wearing are not showing off her legs to the best advantage--her ankles appear thick and I really do not believe that is the case. Finally, while her make-up is good the bronzer is over the top.

Q. Maxima's dress is gorgeous, the skirt has some swing and movement, length is great, excellent. The bodice fits well, sleeves are graceful, but the belt. I am not sure what would look better, but the belt doesn't seem to fit with the overall look, it might just be me! Regardless of my tastes the Queen looks exceptionally lovely, her hair soft and natural looking. Shoes and evening clutch are perfect choices. I'm not sure of the necklace she is wearing, a closeup would be good to check this out. I am wondering if the hair clip is one of her diamond clips?
ReplyDeletePresident Zuzana Caputova looks superb, an outstanding presentation, her gown is divine.
The lady in the long red gown looks exceptionally lovely, this looks to be a interesting gown, I like this very much.
The President looks great. Maxima not so much, shiny dress, too youngish, the belt too big, needs better undergarments...there's really nothing I like, but her hair looks OK. Why isn't she wearing a long dress like the other, more elegant ladies? Because she's Maxima and does whatever she wants.
Rossella
I love your comments Rosella. Your style knowledge is great. I can read & understand Italian very well. I wish I could write in Italian well enough to reply.
DeleteI love the dress the Slovak's wife's President is wearing. As to Maxima, no. The dress is more suited to a figure skater than a queen visiting a republic, the belt is awful, same as the shoes. The whole look, looks tacky.
ReplyDeleteCould the two youngish women In photo N°3, be the daughters of President Zuzana Čaputová ? I’ve read that she has two daughters.
ReplyDeleteShe is now divorced and lives with her “domestic” companion Juraj Rizman. Just wondering.
In the second photo, the two daughters of the Mrs. president are with the presidential and royal couple. Emma in a red dress (19 years old) and Lea (22 years old) in a navy or black dress. Both are university students, they do not accompany their mother, but this concert is an exception. Mrs. Čaputová (49) entered politics as a divorcee, she lives with her longtime boyfriend (47).
DeleteIn the fifth photo - a view of the theater audience: Prime Minister Eduard Heger and his wife (in yellow dress).are sitting next to Queen Maxima on her left hand.
Stephanie
Yes I think so. The one on the left is definitely Emma Caputova.
Delete@Stephanie : Thanks for the information.
DeleteThe President has two beautiful daughters.
Thank you, stephanie! e.
DeleteThe winner is the President, What a beautiful dress! Moreover, she was elegantly dressed throughout the whole visit
ReplyDeleteAgree! Ladyofthemanor
DeleteWithout the belt it could be a refined dress. The shoes are awfull, always have bee, not suited for her not so elegant legs.
ReplyDeleteTo rewear your clothes is okay, but when you get older some things suddenly look not so nice anymore as they did before.
Maxima seems not to be aware of that.
Mabel
ReplyDeleteYes, @Tulipe33, Some information on the fashion house/houses who have done the wardrobe for President Madam Čaputová would be welcomed. I have found at least 10 fashion designer Slovakian names and houses which are probably not known in western Europe.
DeleteCongratulations to the people behind Madam Čaputová’s wardrobe for this state visit with the Netherlands. Impressive to say the least.
Madam President wears designs by Slovak designers. Her court designer is named Boris Hanečka. If you want, you can look at this page, Madam President during state visits and in national costume.

She has a slightly stronger figure and is not tall, she is almost 50 years, but she still looks very elegant and young in his models.
Stephanie
Stephanie, thanks for all the information you gave!
DeleteI looked at the website, the “ head of state” is mentioned and his designs are quite good and easy to wear I think,
Mabel
@ Stephanie. Super photos, thanks a million.
DeleteThe beautiful red and black dresses on Pic.3 are the same model, the ladies wearing them might be the performers.
ReplyDeleteI understand that you may not like the dress, but saying it's too short for her age??? It's way beyond her knees, for God's sake. Why do you always have to dictate the length of a dress or hair, by a person's age?
ReplyDeleteAgain, my personal award goes to Mrs. Caputová. She really shone during this state visit and brought herself effortlessly to the forefront of royal fashion watchers (well, not royal, but international diplomacy, in her case). Brava!
ReplyDeleteWith other accessories, this could be a good dress. The belt and the shoes are awful.
ReplyDeleteNatascha
The dress is nice. The belt is too big for a knee length dress. A slimmer more delicate belt would have been a better option. We had a similar situation with an outfit by the same designer, that Maxima wore to the Garter day in Windsor a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHer hair is lovely. But, and I don’t if it’s due to the flash photography, but the concealer/under eye highlight is stark, compared to the dark bronzer. Bea
It could be another by the legendary Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers iconic-duo inspired costumes win from A & M, but no the belt has spolt it.
ReplyDeleteMaxima's hair however is making a come-back ( everything on the right place).

ReplyDeleteShoes and belt are totally wrong. The dress itself is nice but needs more delicate accessories. A thinner belt and shoes with a thinner heel had been more elegant. I also wonder if a full length gown had been better as this is not a cocktail reception but a gala concert.
ReplyDeleteBella Maxima, Bravo!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the belt is torturing her ... look at the way she is sitting ...
ReplyDeleteHm, I'm not really feeling either of the looks. The President's dress makes her look older than she is and Maxima's just doesn't suit her. Maybe drop the belt and make it a midi dress? Give it some contrasting accessoires, like a burgundy shoe and red jewellery? And definitely ditch the shiny tights. I like the hair, though!
ReplyDelete-Nika-
Maxima dear, no more wide belts, and shiny stockings that simply draw attention away from your face. This outfit is a total disaster as far as I see, from the stockings, shoes, belt and too much makeup. The president's dress is lovely, classic totally outshining Max. Edwina
