Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway are making a three-day official visit to London. On March 1, 2023, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess attended a literature event for British booksellers at the Norwegian Ambassador’s Residence. Promotion of Norwegian literature and music is also part of the visit programme.
The official visit is made to celebrate the long history of strong ties and excellent relations between Norway and the United Kingdom. The visit aims to promote cooperation, especially green industrial transition and innovation, and to expand cooperation on energy.
Lisou Iona Silk Skirt and Lisou Bailey Silk Shirt
Horreur... :((
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Princess MM doesn’t have the figure to wear this outfit. MR
DeleteYes, the outfit doesn't look good, especially the blouse. And the two items (blouse and skirt) do not match.
DeletePauline
J'ai tout de suite remarqué le contraste entre la jolie jupe imprimée et la chemise qui aurait été plus élégante dans une couleur unie comme du gris ou même de l'orange ; à mon avis, Mette-Marit aurait eu plus d'allure !
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a good outfit for Goodwill.
ReplyDeleteTricky pieces taken separately, terrible put together. What happened ?
ReplyDeleteMaguy
An interesting - and different - outfit on MM for sure.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred if the skirt had been constructed to be worn lower instead of so high up, especially for body types that are not rakishly thin. I like the color combinations of top and skirt together. A little bit funky and more than a little bit different. Makes a nice change from what we have become used to seeing for months and years.

Agree on the skirt. It should be cut lower. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteNot much fan about this match....although skirt and blouse separately are nice.
ReplyDeleteFirst thought: oh no. Second thought: a fresh look. And why not?
ReplyDeleteanna e.
The same for me, but still on the fence about the combination.
DeleteSame here. I really love the unexpectedness of this outfit, but not sure the execution is quite right. I’m a huge fan of the royal ladies taking more risks so bravo to MM for making a go with this outfit!
DeleteI like her style most of the time but this outfit is truly awful and I can’t see it looking good on any body type.
ReplyDeleteHorrible combination of patterns and very, very unflattering. Get a mirror, woman! Or a stylist! Pia
ReplyDeleteGo to writing class, girl! Siv
DeleteHmm … not fan of the outfit, too much patterns for the top a-n-d the skirt! Pity!
ReplyDeleteHorrible outfit. The skirt looks great if not worn by anybody - lovely pattern, lovely fabric. But I can't imagine it looking good on ANYONE.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look good on the model. If it doesn't look good on the model .... [Sigh]
ReplyDeleteEuropa
It looks as if she planned something else and had to change at the very last moment. Terrible.
ReplyDeleteMa perché scegliere un outfit così brutto? Un peccato, MM è così adorabile.
ReplyDeleteRossella
MM is usually well dressed, however this outfit totally confuses my mind with the odd patterns and colors. It is nice to see her healthy enough to travel and participate.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a hard skirt for anyone to wear, stiff and shiny…I don’t think it flatters the model either. The blouse is lovely though. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThese two items are nice, but not together, too much clashing going on.
ReplyDeleteBut the designer, Rene Macdonald, of both the skirt and top said in a Vanity Fair interview that she likes working with clashing prints.
DeleteWhat can one say ?
See my later comment about the LISOU fashion house in London.
Help! I know clashing patterns can be 'a thing' fashionwise but this is not a good look. Not sure if I really like either item individually but perhaps tha blouse would be okay with a plain skirt or trousers, and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces by itself not bad, but together they are plain horror. css
ReplyDeleteWhat was she thinking??? There´s not a single positive thing I can say about this outfit. It really shouldn´t exist.
ReplyDeleteAll the precious silk wasted on something so ugly.
What is she wearing???? Why is she wearing…? Yikes
ReplyDeleteThe fabric of the skirt is beautiful--but the style is not flattering for M-M or the model, so pretty much for any figure. The blouse is also from a lovely fabric. But, together this is a huge no. I think M-M would look good in the blouse with another skirt or pair of trousers but she does look completely washed out so maybe this whole outfit is one for the donation or resale pile.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The blouse with trousers, good idea. e.
DeleteWhat on earth possessed her to wear this shiny, ill fitting, mismatched ensemble. Burn it and never think of it again lol
ReplyDeleteDear!!! So many (negative) things to say... Let me just move to the next post, with this comment:
ReplyDeleteIs her hair longer than usual right?
Seems to me so
Luna
MM is an attractive woman. This outfit does everything to ruin that. Incomprehensible.
ReplyDeleteThe designer of Princess Mette-Marit’s outfit talks about her love of clashing prints.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw Princess Mette-Marit’s ensemble, I instantly thought it was inspired from Scandinavian/Nordic folklore.
After checking out the designer I was surprised to read that the Lisou fashion house is from London. The head designer, Rene Macdonald, grew up inTanzania and moved to the UK at a young age. She has kept a close contact with her mother country and takes inspiration from the designs and colours of Africa.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she talked about her sense of colour and love of clashing prints which undoubtedly comes from her homeland, Tanzania.

MM do what she always does. She is honoring the country she visit with chosing an designer from the host country, and this designer mix patterns. We can like it or not, but she is true to the design.
DeleteThank you for the explanation
DeleteLove the outfit by the way
I like MM but that outfit is awful!
ReplyDeleteCrown Princess Mette-Marit took a risk and it failed. Also her bosom needs to be lifted with a good bra. Glad she is feeling well!
