Wow everyone looks great!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous coat and hat Princess Anne
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts too.
DeleteCatherine’s ensemble is a rare miss for me. Too much of everything—starchy peplum, odd white darts triangulating her bosom, dotty print, hat that doesn’t “suit the suit.” Although her gorgeous sapphire earrings almost make up for it! Sophie looks nice and genuinely happy—wearing her pearl wedding earrings gift from Edward.
ReplyDeleteAgree.,In my opinion Kate’s look is Oeralgebied old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteWow! Ladies look very royal, it seems like Katherine's outfit is a bit lighter on fabric, she looks great, hope she is was not cold.
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne very pleasant surprise, a bit daring, but lovely.
Luna
Princess of Wales adapting a new style, elegant, it suits her. Duchess of Edinburgh's hat is very 80s. Queen Camilla seems to be constantly recycling her outfits. And King Charles suit is like that of a peasant, top button undone!
ReplyDeleteAll of the ladies look good but for me the standouts are Q. Camilla (gorgeous colour plus QE’s fabulous sapphire brooch), and P. Catherine, in an interesting suit with perfectly coordinated accessories. I think D. Sophie’s coat might be a bit tight across the chest, but otherwise she looks lovely. P. Anne is true to herself as always but the brooch on her coat is a nice touch. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteThe family is dressed well on what looks like a windy day. Have to give top marks to Anne with that fabulous coat! She looks very modern and the hat is the fashionable cherry on top.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 17:55 : Agree.
DeletePrincess Anne appears to have taken aboard a new stylist.
Impressive 😊
Prinzessin Anne, so wundertraumschön!!!
DeleteI take off my hat to you, the coat looked vaguely familiar to me but I would never have been able to remember where she wore it before! Wow!
DeleteI like the style of Kate's suit - very much new line from the 1950s, and why not, very chic, elegant and feminine - but the contrast of black fabric and white flowers doesn't really convince me. It's too harsh, I think. A less striking colour maybe?
ReplyDeleteI adore Anne's coat, it looks like a piece from the 1970s or possibly 1980s. Does anybody know?
She has certainly worn it before. You can see a video of Christmas 2016 and also at the Cheltenham races (according to the Daily Express)
DeleteLast seen sandringham 2016, cheltenham 2013 (?). e.
DeleteI think it is not black but navy.
DeleteThe Prinsess of Wales looks very nice. Love her hat. The Erdem suit is nice with its whimsical flower print. The pocket flaps on Sophie's coat sit way too low. She is not a tall person and should have her clothes adjusted to her height. No flaps and a shorter hem would be so much better.

So very strange to not see HM Queen Elizabeth for this event for the first time (yes, I know she didn't attend last year either, but still).
ReplyDeleteDSC. I share your feelings

Maybe it's my age but the winners for me today are the outfits worn by the older ladies. The Princess Royal's rewear is great and the colour and style of the Queen Consort's coat is ;lovely. The white outfit of the Duchess of Edinburgh (how I love to use that title!) is okay and while I like the Princess Of Wales's outfit it seems quite light weight for the time of year and I'm not sure about the navy hat, gorgeous though it is, with the black and white dress.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the shoes Camilla is wearing 😀
ReplyDeleteSomebody has been reading our comments.
The boots are going to have their nose put out of joint.
Wonderful. Simply wonderful, all of them!
ReplyDeleteKate is still capable of surprising me with another beautiful perfect outfit: elegance and class, and that matching hat: superbe.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla : lovely. Her dressers show a better and better understanding of what is flattering for her, and gradually she changes in a very well dressed lady.
Sophie: well done!
Love the all cream coat and accessories; the little hat, so flattering.
Princess Ann: lovely lady, always her solid, non exaggerating self, quite good.
British Royalty gave a good show today of what class is!
Mabel
Love The Princess Royal's hat, she looks so chic, her coat looks good, like the brooch. Sophie looks lovely, pretty coat. Catherine's Erdem suit is well fitted, the Navy and white color I love, the accompanying accessories, perfect choice. The diamond and sapphire earrings, gorgeous. Not quite sure what brooch she is wearing but lovely to see one on her. Camilla's diamond and sapphire brooch is stunning, what a beauty.
ReplyDeleteGreat look on everyone. Dss Kate looks stunning in retro style outfit. Love the color of Q Camillas hat and coat. The brooch is stunning. Sophie really looks happy and BTW nice coat. css
ReplyDeleteCatherine's silhouette is great, but the print feels cluttered and ages her unneccessarily. Anne looks great. I suppose all her individual pieces are decades old, but she still manages to look very elegant and timeless. Camilla plays it safe, so not much to say other than the colour suits her well. Which leaves the new Duchess of Edinburgh - Sophie's my winner. The colour, the hat, the jewellery - stunning. I wish the coat was a tiny bit more tailored at the waist or the pocket flaps placed differently, but it remains a gorgeous look!

I always smile whenever I see P Anne. She hasn’t updated her wardrobe in years. You can guarantee if you went back 20yrs you’d see her wearing the same clothes. P Anne is a true believer in re-wearing and keeping outfits. Then on the other hand you have D Sophie & P Kate in the latest fashion! Looking lovely in them! Bea
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne for the win! Everything is so flattering - the shape of the hat, the cut of the collar, and the sleek boots.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteI would say; Princess Anne won outfit of the day. Now the real question is; Feather, bow, or maybe none. Greetings everyone 🖐️👑🇺🇸JD1
ReplyDeleteThe ladies of BRF do not disappoint on this special occasion! Each is elegantly dressed in a style that is very flattering with the choices perfect for each lady. Queen Camilla made my day by wearing what looks like the Russian Sapphire Brooch--exciting to see these gorgeous heirloom jewels getting out of the vault and back into the public eye. It seems as if cobalt or sapphire blue is her current color of choice for important events and it is a shade of blue that is lovely on her. The Princess Royal looks terrific in her green--her hat makes the whole outfi. It has real flair. I also love that she added sleek boots as it appears to be a cold and windy day. The Princess of Wales looks smashing--her height and slim figure are perfect for this silhouette. Her whole look has a sort of 1930s vibe. The new Duchess of Edinburgh is very chic in her cream ensemble--and she is wearing a pillbox hat which always wins extra style points with me.
ReplyDeleteKudos to the ladies!!!
Janet
The ladies all look wonderful, especially Anne, Catherine and Sophie! The men looked the same, though Charles and his comb-over were caught up in the wind the ladies were also caught in, made a made a mess of hair. He really needs a short, cut, would make him a huge up lift in his appearance. Edwina
ReplyDeleteSophie is the winner for me, a lovely Duchess, Hats were made for Princess Anne. I love the Queen wearing the sapphire brooch, has it been re-set, Cannot wait to see more of the late Queen's enormous jewels on the ladies.
ReplyDeleteFitzhugh
All the ladies look great. Catherine - the epitome of elegance. She reminds me very much of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (mother of the current Duke of Kent), who in the first half of the 20th century was the queen of elegance at the royal court: not only with her slim silhouette, classic fashion, but also with her sense of duty, composure and dignity . Anyone who knows history might know something about it.
ReplyDeleteSophie - very elegant, she exudes something soothing. Every team would like a member like her.
Stephanie
Nobody of the Royal ladies is dressed in an up-to-date way. Princess of W. : looks like she stepped out of a movie of the 50-tees. Queen C : an old shapeless coat as usual. Princess A : an old coat too but at least her clothes are fitting well. Duchess S : the idea is good but unfortunately there is always something that is wrong or missing : f.ex. the length, and in this case the upper part of the white coat is too tight.
ReplyDeleteI like the hat of Catherine but why not use a hat pin to keep the stuff in place ( princess Beatrix always used it, I'm not sure about Maxima, occasionally yeah)
ReplyDeleteYou know if the wind gets a grip on it...it's getting wings.

Firstly I want to congratulate the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. A well deserved title for them.
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks great and my best wishes to all for standing together. The ladies (and gents) are all dressed so appropriately. I really can not find fault. For me, their smiles really touches the heartstrings. ~MS~
Really think this was a winner for Kate. She looks elegant and beautiful. Still admire how she manages to do it right all the time.
ReplyDeleteKates dress looks sensational! She is absolutly perfect!
ReplyDeleteAnne really surprises. She looks downright stylish. The idea of Sophie's outfit is good, but the execution doesn't quite work out. The dimensions of the jacket are wrong. Because of the placement of the pockets, Sophie looks shorter than she is. Catherine's outfit is mostly ridiculous, like theater costumes. Camilla looks ok - business as usual. -Siri
ReplyDeleteNot at all a fan of Kate’s choice. Sophie consistently wins in these events.

I gave it two days to let it all sink in. Generally, all the royal ladies did a pretty good job in dressing for the occasion. But to me the Princess of Wales stands out, and I will tell you why. The Erdem ensemble might have its flaws (like the white stitching in triangular shape at the front), but it is exquisitely tailored, and what made it for me is something that sadly isn't visible in the pictures shared on this site, but could be seen elsewhere, and that is the reverse lining of the skirt (I suppose the very same goes for the top). Meaning, the dress is lined with the same fabric, but this time blue print on white, just reverse to the outside of the ensemble. This fine detail finally won me over. Extremely well done. The Duchess of Edinburgh (oh, how I love to call her that!) looked sharp as well, but the coat had some minor fitting issues, I think. Loved her hat with the black bow at the back. Anne Princess Royal just stoically does her thing, unperturbed by anything, and I admire her for that attitude. She looked mighty fine, too. Queen Camilla wore a lovely, vibrant colour, it suited her. That she made use of the Russian Sapphire Brooch was a lovely surprise, just the icing on the cake. She seems to be quite partial on these blue stones, I guess. Bring them out, Your Majesty, bring them out!

I agree with the person who commented that this was a rare fail for Catherine. I can't find one saving grace to this severe, unbecoming suit...the color is drab, the print (or tiny embroidered flowers, it's difficult to tell) reads like polka-dots -- never a good thing, imo -- and the tight sleeves, pointy shoulders, nipped-in waist (emphasized by the peplum), and straight-to-flared skirt make Catherine look weirdly elongated and like a hobbled stick insect. She could have looked so beautiful for this great occasion in a classic suit in a warm solid color like claret or a tawny caramel hue. Oh well. She'll effortlessly hit it out of the park again any day now...
ReplyDeleteThanks DSC for the information on the dress worn by the Princess of Wales.
