On the 3rd day of their visit to Curacao, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Amalia visited the Tula Museum at Landhuis Knip on the former plantation where Tula started a slave revolt in 1795. The family then visited Hofi Mango, a former sugar plantation that is now a nature park. Large mango trees give the hofi its name.
In the afternoon, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Amalia (Princess of Orange) attended a presentation on Cas Abao beach by Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) about protected marine areas and preserving the sea turtle population.
Zara Emilie Printed Midi Dress
Another great outfit for Queen Maxima and another nearly bit not quite for Princess Amalia. I like the top of the dress but the length combined with the clumpy trainers looks totally frumpy. Add the big bag and she could have just nipped out for her shopping.
ReplyDeleteYes to "great outfit for Queen Maxima and another nearly bit not quite for Princess Amalia" ! "length combined with trainers" has become part of daily reality for so many women and young ladies particularly, so they can no longer be so severely criticized.
DeleteMaxima has really upstaged her daughter on this trip. They should exchange wardropes

oh dear,,,
ReplyDeleteCatharina-Amalia has gorgeous hair and I’m glad she is showing it off, both when worn long in casual waves, or in a variety of lovely updos. She also has a beautiful complexion, and her makeup is superbly done. Playing up one’s good points is wisdom we’ve all been encouraged to take onboard from a young age, and imo she has been getting excellent advice there. As far as wardrobe choices, I think she has, for the most part, been doing pretty well. The most important thing at this stage, I think, is for her to believe in her own special qualities and have confidence in herself. Dressing for her figure type involves attention to proportion and color values that will almost certainly become second nature to her as she advances into her twenties. Unfortunately, fashion trends that look awful on most women — like klunky trainers worn with dresses— are difficult for the young to resist. The contrast between Maxima’s footwear and her daughter’s here is a vivid illustration of experience versus the youthful desire to be “on trend”.
ReplyDeleteSono completamente d’accordo con te.

DeleteWell said. Thanks.
I agree with everything you have written. One reason for Amalia's decision to wear trainers at this event may have something to do with comfort for sore feet. In the eighth picture from the top, it appears there is a bandaid/plaster/bandage on her right heel.
Delete@Anon 04:40 Perfectly articulated. Thank you.

My guess is Amalia isn't necessarily wearing the shoes because they are "on trend" but because they protect her feet from sunburn. I speek from experience, Australian with redhair and fair skin - OUCH!
DeleteAmalia looks great in this navy and white dress, very appropriate for the occasion. This is the first time I have seen a close up of her necklace, I love it, beautiful. Queen Maxima looks fabulous, love her dress.
ReplyDeleteAmalia got a lot of remarks on this website, for not dressing her age. Well, this is how hip teenage girls dress up for the beach. Well done Amalia! A stylish but comfortabel long dress that looks perfect on her. I like the dark blue color and summery print. A cool hat and sunglasses. She looks fab!
ReplyDeleteThis hairstyle is better for Amelia. She is a beautiful young lady, depending on the pics. Some highlight well her beauty.

I hope Amalia can deal with all the attention, can't imagine her having a hard time on the Dutch Caribbean Islands.
ReplyDeleteShe is not such a pleaser like mother. I can see she feels most comfortable in long dresses. I think if in her position I would experiment with different lengths ( also skirts).
This is a nice looking dress for a young woman, very hip haha.
The total picture is happy, funny( turtle) and a sunny time for all the people, animals.

As always too much fabric.
ReplyDeleteShe looks fantastic 😍 she's a beautiful girl n will definitely be an amazing young Lady as she matures
ReplyDeleteI like Maxima’s dress and Amalia’s is fine. Love her hat! The style fits her very well and makes me think she would have looked good in her mothers dress, without the midriff hole. Clunky trainers are worn by everyone these days and comfortable.

Poor Girl. She rarely looks happy, hiding behind her parents. She has such a lovely pretty face, can't she get professional help?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 12:46, in what capacity would she need professional help? And who are you to determine that and give free advice? The worts part about your comment is that you disguise your insidious intent by disguising it as a concern.

L'aiuto professionale, come dice Lei, lo riceve, visto che come ha confessato in un'intervista per i 18 anni; sosteneva di sfogarsi con uno psicologo nei momenti di maggiore tensione.
DeleteThe clunky trainers with a dress is a look thats popular. I think she might be wearing as the back of her heels have rubbed and these are more comfortable. The plasters were on display in a video of her releasing the turtle.
ReplyDeleteThe dear princess is beautiful. Long dresses are a good choice in a windy environment keeps you appropriately covered. Designers need to create more youthful outfits for non thin ladies. We won’t wear clingy fabrics that shows every imperfection. Three quarter length sleeves would be a good choice. As long as she doesn't wear Natan she will do just fine.
ReplyDelete👌👌
DeleteGreat look for the Q and the Pss. css
ReplyDeleteShe is a beautiful young lady. Please leave her alone.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has ruined her feet from years of wearing heels to work every day, I applaud young women like Amalia who are going for comfort and healthier feet. I have to have custom orthotics now for every shoe I wear due to tendon damage. A narrow toe box and high heels are not natural for human feet; lots of research has been done on this. Jill
