On February 6, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Amalia arrived in St Maarten on the 11th day of their 2-week visit to the Dutch Caribbean Islands. The King, Queen and Crown Princess were welcomed by the Governor of St Maarten Ajamu Baly and Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs at Princess Juliana International Airport.
The first day of the visit focused on the country’s reconstruction following the devastation caused by the hurricane Irma in September 2017. During a visit to the emergency and disaster response services, the King, Queen and Crown Princess attended a disaster exercise. They then visited the St Maarten Medical Center.

I really like Q. Max’s jacket and her headband, but I think the trousers are too short even for cropped pants. And the shoes - yikes! I can’t imagine wearing clear vinyl footwear in the tropics. CP Amalia's suit is a great colour for her. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteQ. Maxima's wardrope has been on point this tour, all gorgeous. Amelia is finding her style in suits.
DeleteWhat is Princess Amalia doing in the last photo?
ReplyDeleteFirst aid. I believe she's wrapping a wound.
Deleteparticipating in first aid training.
DeleteThank you!
DeleteI think I would like C-A’s suit better if the pants were cropped, similar to Queen Maxima’s, and the jacket sleeves were 3/4 in length, or at least a more tailored fit. The colour looks lovely on her.
ReplyDeleteStill too much fabric.
ReplyDeleteI’m so proud of the young woman Princess Amalia has become. Beautiful, confident, and supportive. I’m also glad to see her help out at the facility, shows true compassion.
ReplyDeleteChad Wizard, this is one of the most lovely comments I have had the pleasure of reading, thank you. I agree wholeheartedly with you. Princess Amalia has become such a splendid young woman and Princess, in every way.
DeleteOh no no to Amelia’s outfit 😩
ReplyDeleteI think her suit is among the best we have seen from her ! I think she is gradually founding her places in this trip and appears more confident.
DeleteQuewen Maxima's trouser suit would have been perfect if the trousers had been full length. The shoes look strange and, agree with VM that they must have been uncomfortable in the heat. Princess Amalia's suit is a nice colour but again. as Anon 21 43 says, there somehow seems to be too much fabric in it. Shoes are lovely and she looks less tense today which is nice to see.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteAmelia's outfit, there is just too much fabric and the length of the jacket is all wrong for her shape. What are these stylist doing? she needs serious help with her outfits, someone take charge that knows how to style someone of her age and shape. She is such an attractive young woman, complement this with colour and style.
ReplyDeleteThere is no stylist, her mother dresses her…..
DeleteLily T.
How do you know were you present. In the Dutch media there have been pictures of the staff that accompanies the DRF on this trip : hairdresser, people responsible for the clothes, etc...
Delete@Anonymous: in the book by Claudia de Breij (written on request of the royal family) Amalia herself says that her most important dressing adviser is…. her mother
DeleteNou jij weer.
Love Maxima's look except for the too-short trousers and awful plastic shoes. Full length trousers would have been so much better. As for the plastic shoes--throw them away! Amalia is wearing a marvelous color but suit is too boxy. Amalia is doing a wonderful job on this first big tour for her and seeing her jumping in to participate today was great!
ReplyDeleteJanet
Yes trousers too short and AWFUL shoes
DeleteNice outfits for both. Do like Maxima's outfit better!.. css
ReplyDeleteThe short wide flared pants, sorry, but they are really ugly, no matter who wears them. She made a worse mistake in that she wore 'stripper' looking shoes. Really dislike this look on a Queen of a country. Plenty of other options out there she could have picked to wear.
ReplyDeleteThe brand of Maxima's 'stripper' shoes like you call it is Gianvitto Rossi. A brand the Princess Wales favours too.
DeleteI don't think Maxima's headband is flattering, same with the colour of Amalia's suit. The jacket looks a bit ...mumsy, too, she's a bit young for such a subudued piece of clothing.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima’s pants.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody remember this style of pants from the 1950’s and 60’s?
They were known as capri pants or pedal pushers.
Capri pants were worn with either heels, flats, sandals or sneakers. However pedal pushers were usually worn with flat shoes or beach thongs.
So what is old is new again.
I’ve read that they will make another return and be in fashion in spring 2023
Note 1: in the 1950’s, my mother wore pedal pushers when she rode her bicycle. You didn’t need a skirt guard on your bicycle to stop your skirt from getting caught in the back wheel or the chain. l.
Note 2: There was a certain group of women, back in my mother’s time, who thought that pedal pushers were vulgar and would never dare to be seen in them.
