On January 30, 2023, Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko received Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife Mareva Grabowski at Akasaka Palace. During the meeting at Akasaka Palace, the challenge of climate change and the green transition were discussed. It is the first time in 17 years that a Greek Prime Minister visits Japan.
Despite my deep respect for the dignity of the Japanese imperial family, which includes their dress code, I do find princess Kiko‘s outfit and shoes somewhat prim. The comparatively daring trousers of Madame Grabowski are very unflattering and seem to me to be unsuitable. The contrast is striking.

I like both ladies’ outfits. CP Kiko’s dress is a lovely colour and a flattering shape for her. The Greek First Lady’s outfit is much more interesting to my eye with the wide trousers and interesting brooch. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteahhh.....the masks do come off then!.... See last photo.
ReplyDeleteThese have always been the case.

Even at the Corona disaster, when the Akishino family members meet their honored guests, I think they care not to be rude. They behave smartly and do what they can with the restrictions they have, which is admirable.
They wear masks face to face and remove them to take a group photo for the camera.
Behind the camera are the people of the guest's country. If the host wears a mask during the commemorative photo, it might make the visitor and the visitor's nationals think that this visit is inconveniencing the host. That is not their intention at all. They are always sincerely welcome.
At present, it is difficult for them to make public appearances without masks, but I can feel their thoughtfulness toward their guests.
Those very very wide white color pants are just awful...
ReplyDeletethe Japanese are always very conservative in what they wear. The greek First Lady looks stunning. css
ReplyDeleteCP Kiko looks lovely and demure. Ms. Grabowski looks fresh and modern (no, I am not a fan of such wide and long trousers) in her black and white trouser outfit. One other thing of note--I am so glad to see the Crown Prince might have shaved off his mustache. In my opinion, his mustache was very unflattering.

I love the drape of the waist of Princess Kiko's dress. Her smile always gently embraces those around her. I feel happy seeing her smile. The Greek First Lady’s pantsuit is also elegant.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look exceptionally lovely. The Greek First Lady looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI like CP Kiko’s dress. The color is like the Aegean Sea.
