Japan's Emperor Emeritus Akihito celebrates his 89th birthday

Japan's Emperor Emeritus Akihito turned 89 today. On the occasion of the birthday, the Imperial Household Agency released new photos of the Emperor Emeritus and Empress Emerita. The photos were taken on December 8 at the Akasaka Estate in Tokyo. Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited the Sento Imperial Residence on the Akasaka Estate to celebrate Emperor Emeritus Akihito's 89th birthday.

    Tanti cari auguri, ma se posso: neanche alla loro bella età ci si può sganciare dal protocollo? Una foto "rigida" da farli sembrare due graziose statuine da giardino...che peccato.

    I've always been a big fan of the Empress Emerita's style. She's worn some beautiful pieces over the years and I see that the trend is continuing. I wonder if she is still dressed by the IHA?

      I agree with you. I hope she has been a bit of a rebel in terms of her dress. Nothing would please me more.
