On December 21, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a Christmas visit to the care group "Heilig Hart" in Kortrijk. The group offers high-quality, contemporary residential care services and is committed to person oriented and connecting care for the elderly. The King and Queen met with the residents, their relatives and staff. The care group strives for optimal care by adapting its services and infrastructure to the needs of the residents.
Very nice red suit and I just love the cape. Red and camel is perhaps not the first colour combination I would pick, but it works well.

I agree on the colour combination, in a weird way it somehow works. I went from "Ew, looks awful!" (pic 1), to "Hmm, ok, perhaps not that bad" (pic 2), to "Omg, gorgeous!" (pic 3)
DeleteYuk, I cannot believe this decadent fur cape. Pure animal cruelty and the numbness about this shocks me.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, very ugly
Delete@Iris: And you know that it's real fur of course, do you? Have you any proof that it's real? Has she worn it before and said it was real? Jeeze.
Delete- Anon 9:13
The cape may well be trimmed in faux fur. I hope so. (V.M.)
DeleteEven when it is fake it is not done, you are just promoting fur, most people do not know whether it is real or not.
DeleteI also believe it is fake fur, and therefore material as any other one.
DeleteIf you are complaining about fur, you should also complain about all the leather shoes, leather handbags and belts they wear. I seriously doubt they wear plastic. And when you are at it make sure they all eat vegan. Ladyofthemanor
DeleteDo all you fur-haters also eat meat? That's something cruel & disgusting right there. So what if it's real fur, although I suspect it is faux due to today's super-sensitivities (e.g. 2017 when Madeleine got blasted for her baby-lambskin coat, which, if true, was an upsetting choice). ava
Delete@Ava No, of course I do not eat meat or wear clothing from animal origine!
DeleteI love the red trouser suit..and the earrings...and the handbag...and the shoes. Great look for Queen Mathilde (definitely red/pink/orange/burgundy Christmas colourings going on for our favourite royals this past week. I'm all for it The jacket while obviously necessary at this time of year, is a bit too 'busy' but that's a small complaint.
ReplyDeleteWow! The Queen looks fabulous in this red pant suit. The color is glorious and the pants and jacket are tailored perfectly. However, I'm not a big fan of her earrings or the cape.
ReplyDeleteBoo to Mathilde if it’s real fur she wears
ReplyDeleteAnd you of course know that for a fact?!
DeleteIf it is real fur, I suspect the animals died a long time ago. No benefit in not wearing them now.

DeleteI definitely think it is real, it is vintage cape. It is really a shame she did this. Even when it is fake it is not done, you are just promoting fur, people do not know whether it is real or not.
DeleteReading comments, I think in the future we will request that they wear a visible label "real" OR "fake".... But honestly, I am not a specialist, but don't know about any real fur which looks like this. Had it been grey, there would probably have been no or little discussion about it.
DeleteI cannot remember having ever seen Mathilde wearing real fur. In fact in these days, only Qn Margaret feels comfortable wearing real fur, unless omission from my side. It seems to me Qn Silvia has abandoned wearing it. But remember our shoes, hand bags are made of leather, also animal material ...
The suit is magnificently tailored & the Red a festive delight! I just wish she had left this furry monster of a coat at home.

This IMO is one of the loveliest appearances I have seen of the Queen. Love the jacket. The pantsuit is fabulous, fits perfectly, love the color. Her accessories are a great color. Earrings, marvellous. She looks so sincere and graceful. Very impressive woman and Queen.
ReplyDeleteMathilde stavolta bellissima!
ReplyDeleteRossella
Red is her happy color.
ReplyDeleteToday The Lady in Red, great look for the Queen. Maxima , Silvia , Beatrix, Sofia , Sonja and Margrethe also the late Queen Elizabeth wore one of these wraps, all wear this type of cape and yes with fur, no one said anything why now suddenly? I am sure they own them for several years. css
ReplyDeleteI adore the regal, opulent-looking jacket, which I’m guessing is embellished with one of the gorgeously soft faux furs that are made these days. It’s perhaps a little fancy to be worn with a pantsuit, but I love it. I don’t like pantsuits on our royal ladies, but at least these trousers are a much better fit on Mathilde than many of the others she has worn. Merry Christmas to all — Jane
ReplyDeleteReally nice pantsuit for the queen, in a real Christmas colour. About the stola/cape, I'm wondering if it's inherited from Queen Fabiola? Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like one of Queens Fabiola
DeleteI don't really like the color combination, but apart from that she looks very elegant. About the cape, I assumed it is fake... I mean no modern royalty in 2022/ 23 can make a public appearance in real fur (even if it is vintage) ... or can they? ( I am speaking about the younger generation not the older one )
ReplyDeleteAgree with you, a coat would have been more suitable. And agree with Iris on fake furs. Irene
DeleteI agree that a coat would have been better than the cape in this case, although I think that it is however unduly criticised.
DeleteQueen Mathilde inherited several jewels from Queen Fabiola. I know she also has a white mink bolero that belonged to Queen Fabiola or Queen Paola (I'm not sure). It could be this is also a piece that once belonged to one of the former queens. If other queens still can wear fur real or faux why wouldn't she. I also agree with the comments of css. 20:44 - 21/12/2022.
