Wonderful from head to toe as always and, above all, a real and regal LADY.
    Well done , P. Catherine!
She is such a breath of fresh, normal and clean air.

  2. This is her colour! Wonderful dress, wonderful christmasy setting! I admire her strength and discipline!

  3. Le rouge de cette robe lui va à merveille surtout en se combinant avec sa magnifique chevelure qui mériterait quand même d’être un petit peu raccourcie et lissée !

  4. This is a lovely photo. Her hair is gorgeous, her makeup is modest, and the dress is very festive. The Princess has been wearing red on a regular basis during the run-up to Christmas. She wears it well.

  5. My problem with Catherine is that she always looks the same. She is beautiful but her clothing is same all, same all.

She has the beauty and the body to really make some impact with high fashion clothes. I know is part of the Royal Family to be boring, play the part and don't stand out. But not so much!

    1. I think her wearing high fashion would invite a lot of criticism, so it's clever of her to dress more low-key.

    2. I agree with you. She always looks nice, even very nice sometimes.. but it's always the same. There's no risk taking, no edgy designers, no trying different styles or unusual colour combinations and one-of-a-kind pieces when, as you correctly point out, she has the physical attributes to be more daring with her sartorial choices when most others aren't so lucky. Of course there's nothing wrong with sticking to the same comfortable styles and looks which are guaranteed to make one look 100%, but as they say, familiarity breeds contempt, and I now find myself spending less time admiring her kind of predictable perfection, much as I like her.

    3. You make some interesting points. Catherine I feel sees clothes more as a work uniform, rather than a stylish piece of artwork clothing. As such tends to be drawn to similar or like for like. To her credit she does stay true UK designers. But I doubt we’ll see Catherine wear anything other than what we get. But, then she looks fabulous in them ! Comfortable in them !
We’ll have to leave fashion risk takers to the other royal ladies !

    4. I agree that her fashion has become very formulaic. Lots of re-wears and matchy matchy outfits. She looks great in clothes and when she ventures into higher, styled fashion she is almost unparalleled in her ability to stun. It’s easy to see why she wants her clothes to stay quiet for many events, but I think there could be a nice balance of approachable outfits and real fashion.

    5. Watching Catherine over the last 2 years I think she is coming out of the box especially now where the queen is gone. I rather watch class and intelligence.

    6. My thought is that she has so many clothes, many bespoke, but the same style continues to repeat. That is what seems so wasteful. Why spend so much on a wardrobe to have it all look the same but in a rainbow of colors? There is nothing wrong with stepping out of her safe zone and trying something new. It won't change her commitment to her work.

    7. There's nothing wrong with being the same if that's what she's comfortable with. That way it's more about the message than her clothes.

  8. I don’t know, the length of her dresses, the beige stockings and those type of pumps feel so mumsy….

    1. If this look is mumsy, then I would be so happy to be described as mumsy! Dark tights would have looked strange with the dress and the shoes are a perfect match.

      Uhm...beige stockings?
What coluir of stockings would you suggest with this red sparkling outfit?
If you you think she looks mumsy , you would call me a rule breaker fashionista with my must- have- wardrobe (maybe because I want to break free when not wearing my on duty uniform).
What did you expect from the Princess of Wales making this kind of announcement?
Vinyl leggings and jacket, grunge outfits, pinkish hair, lace up stilettos and drums in the foreground?🙃

    3. Wow, Annie and P the Original…relax! Keep breathing… It’s just my honest opinion.

    4. @P.the original: Well maybe not for an announcement of a Carol concert, but if the PoW were to tastefully include even a HINT of just one of those elements you mention in your last paragraph into her look or style for an appropriate occasion (on or off duty), I'd certainly sit up and pay attention without criticism. What a breath of fresh air and modernity that would be both to herself and to her role/platform in a modern, changing world. :)

Dear Anonymous, why relax if I am breathing fine?
Seems like you are annoyed by P. Catherine.
The meaning of my comment is clear: the Princess of Wales performs an institutional role and what is she supposed to wear at Christmas time and on this occasion in particular?
Perhaps you wanted the green piece...yes , she already wore a spectacular super trendy neon green ensemble when in the USA and you were not happy with it either.

      Dear - Anon.9:13,
I doubt that a traditional and institutional role such as that of the Princess of Wales will ever include any of the modernist features I mentioned above.
The Princess may appear as a sort of incremental repetition of herself , but you see, she gets a most remarkable feedback all the same and her audience seems to be satisfied with her style.
Having a comfort zone in fashion does not mean she cannot be like a breath of fresh air as far as her flawless behaviour is concerned.

    7. P the Original, don’t know how you come to such a conclusion. Kate is fine, no problem there ! Relax and keep breathing 😉

    8. @P. the original: "..traditional and institutional role" ? Just because previous occupiers of the title played it safe, choosing to follow in the centuries old manner of their forebears doesn't exclude the role from being modernised incrementally. After all, it's the function of the role that is important here. A good balance of contemporary style would go a long way to accessing a more youthful audience to the PoW, whose issues she genuinely seems to want to champion from the charities and patronages we've seen. At a time when the relevance of Royalty is being challenged and criticized, and duties are being reorganised or excised by Royal house all over Europe, this would be an ideal time for some fresh changes. Her behaviour doesn't have to change at all, since you mentioned it.

Yes, you are right in saying that it's the function of the role that is important here.
However, you see, this is just a spiffy ensemble shown on the occasion of this announcement and nothing so far from sleek European standards.
I mean that she has enough appeal to address a young platform too.
      P. Catherine is very good in mingling different pieces together, from haute couture to average affordable brands ,so young people can relate quite easily..
You see, any time she turns up, her outfits are sold out within hours of her being photographed or televised.
Finally, I remember seeing her also in quite average contemporary working clothes when visiting shelters, charities or just supporting any of her patronages.

  12. Waiting for this event. She has done a great job last year. Hope lots of Family members will join in. She looks fantastic in red. I hope they will close the event with a special Christmas song created 206 years ago in Austria. This song went around the world and is sang in every language. css

  18. Except for the length almost the same dress than last time at the reception for the foreign diplomates. Same cut, same color, almost same fabric... I know red suits her and it is a classic Christmas color, but why not wearing this last dress at a later occasion. She is lovely in green too which is also a good Christmas color . . . Why not wear one of the lovely gala dresses we've seen before.

  19. @ P the original, although I disagree with the comment about her looking “mumsy”, there is a sea of difference between that description and your hyperbole, one can find her style boring/predictable, and the opposite of that could be original, and yet elegant. There are many shades in fashion.

Hope she will turn up with some kind of black sheath dress and platinum hair sooner or later.
I could give her a bit of advice...😉

  20. What a gorgeous dress and the colour is stunning on Princess Catherine. It is said that Her Majesty loves Christmas and all the festivities, so this is a magnificent tribute to her. Indeed they will all miss Her Majesty this year, but I trust that all members of the family have a peaceful, reflective and magical Christmas this year as they gather together.

  21. Perhaps Catherine will rewear a classic dress at this time. The british people have a hard time with high prices and difficult situations. She is a highly intelligent woman and does a very thoughtful job. I think this dress is suitable and very pretty.

  22. Very elegant! I think Catherine looks lovely.
I love that Catherine is wearing more pant suits and has adopted a more 'business style' look. Diana, Princess of Wales adopted a sleeker 'business style' wardrobe in the '90s and she looked fantastic.
