King Felipe and Queen Letizia gave a lunch at the Royal Palace of Madrid in honor of the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez and the First Lady Silvana Lopez Moreira, who are officially visiting Spain to attend the Spain-Paraguay Business Meeting. The business meeting is organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Embassy of Paraguay in Spain.
Carolina Herrera Chiffon Silk Dress
Both ladies look wonderful and are dressed quite similarly, but I especially like the Paraguayan First Lady's dress. Not only does it fit her so well (bust, bodice, waist and length), but I like the styling details of the piped/lace edging on the collar, sleeves and hem as well as down the front...and of course the colourful illustrative embroidery at the bottom of the dress. I feel there's a charming story behind that detail and if there is, I'd love to hear it.

Yes , indeed . Well said Anon 9:13 .
DeleteThe Queen and First Lady could almost be cousins. Not that it would have been pre-planned, but their dresses complement each other's. Also, at least in these photos, I see no sign of the early grays in Letizia's hair that she showed in the recent past. Appears to now be colouring her hair. (The gray can wait for a later stage in life.)
ReplyDeleteLove both dresses.

Due splendide signore. Stile, eleganza e bei sorrisi.

Absolutely beautiful dress on Letizia—love the floating movement as she walks. The Peruvian First Lady also looks very good—wonder whether embroidery on her skirt are Peruvian images. Can’t see them well enough.
ReplyDeleteShe is the First Lady of Paraguay, not Perú. ……..Ana

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice palette cleanser after the hole disaster from yesterday. It's clean and simple and suits Letizia very well. I'm intrigued by the First Lady's outfit, wish there was more info on the design!
ReplyDelete-Nika-
So true, Nika!
DeleteLol. Your comment made me go and look for "the hole" in yesterday's outfit, and once i saw it I couldn't wait to read the comments!
DeleteLove both dresses, more so of the First Lady's I believe Letizia's dress was worn by Infanta Sofia, maybe a little too young for her. css
ReplyDeleteLetizia’s dress is sweet, but a tad too juvenile, though this designer makes clothes that generally look good on her. Silvana’s is stunning in design and execution. Can’t wait to see the details of the embroidery.
ReplyDeleteIt is her daughter Sophia’s dress worn to the princess Asturias awards 2021

DeleteQueen Letizia's dress is stunning, with plenty of swish and movement, perfect length. Love the fall of her sleeves. The pearl drop earrings were a very elegant choice. The first lady looks outstanding, this is a gorgeous dress, with unusual features, which are beautiful and set it apart from the rest. I love her color choice of shoes and clutch. She looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look lovely - the Paraguayan President's wife in particular. I love her dress.
ReplyDeleteBee
Me too . I agree with you Bee.
DeleteI agree, the President’s wife wears an exquisite dress that fits her beautifully. MR
DeleteBoth Queen Letizia and Paraguay’s First Lady, Silvana Lopez Moreira, look stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe only fashion point I could nit-pick on would be the black shoes worn by Queen Letizia. A light colour but not white would fit in much better with the overall tone of the two dresses.
I’ve read where the First Lady has received a lot of positive fashion comments since she married her second husband in 2007 (Mario Abdo Benítez) and became the First Lady of Paraguay in 2018).
She is 48 years old and has four children, three to her first husband and one to her present husband.
Queen Letizia is 50 years old. They could be sisters.
I’m looking forward to reading @Tulipe33’s detailed comments on the two dresses.
Quel magnifique duo.

First Lady of Paraguay takes the prize for best dressed. She is a stunning woman.
ReplyDeleteCH
Both ladies in similar dresses, was this on purpose or coincidence. I believe it was not on purpose. It does not happen very often but in this case Queen L. is not the best dressed.
ReplyDeleteTend to agree with not the best dressed. Ali
