On the second day of their state visit to Greece, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima hosted a dance performance and a reception by the Nederlands Danstheater (NDT) in the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis) in honor of the President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou and her spouse Pavlos Kotsonis for their hospitality during the state visit.
Claes Iversen Red Gown
Usually I do like dresses with one off-the-shoulder, and Queen Maxima shure can pull that off, looking great in it. However this dress’ sleeve is too big somehow and it doesn’t look right.

Yes you’re right. Something looks off.
DeleteBeautiful dress gorgeous jewelry but the hair style is not the best. The king looks tired maybe .
ReplyDeleteThat’s a magnificent brooch that Maxima is wearing ! I can’t think of any of our other royal ladies who could carry that off.
ReplyDeleteI love the berry color and the one shoulder. I think the large belt is a miss though! Hair & make up is lovely!
I love this Iversen gown on Queen Maxima!!! The style, the color, and the jewels are fabulous and she is stunning.

Gorgeous pink dress. Queen Maxima looks fab. Not sure what the Greek President is wearing--it looks like a very odd assortment of garments or a dress with lots of bits under a jacket?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress. Not sure about the wide belt. Don´t like her hair like this at all, although it is clearly styled.
ReplyDeleteI really like this dress, the color is delicious and Maxima has the perfect figure for it. I generally don’t care for such wide belts, but she definitely can carry it. Good choice of jewelry, and although some of you don’t like her hair, I think is a great improvement from her usual style.

I agree with the positive comments on the dress. The hair looks as an improvement indeed, however I don't like the color.
DeleteThe sleeve is too long, looks odd, and the belt is far too wide. I'm not fond of the color or the way she did her hair and makeup. She may try, but trying to overshine the host is never a good idea imho. Clare
ReplyDeleteHow do you know she is trying to "overshine" the host? She dresses as she always dresses - you may not like it but she is just remaining faithful to her usual style.
DeleteThe King and Queen are organizing this event so here they are the hosts here and determine the dresscode.
DeleteFor this type of function this is typically black tie, but to tie in with the less formal state dinner Greece hosted it is apparently toned down.
I tend to agree, the Queen always seems to have outdo every outfit, and most people call it her 'style'. I happen to feel as the previous commenter, sometimes less is more, or to be honest, it's just too much. The hair is oddly styled, the red colored eye shadow is not needed, and the dress is a bit lopsided with the long sleeve. Ann
DeleteBecause it is her style - she almost always dresses exuberantly so yes, it's her style. Maybe people should stop psycho-analysing so much and deciding it's some kind of competition on Maxima's part.

Everything is nice … except perhaps Maxima’s hairstyle, looks funny :-D
ReplyDeleteAll throughout this trip I’ve had the same thought in the back of my mind: Maxima is a Queen. This country ousted their royal family who are close friends with her and her husband, the King. I think Máxima chose her outfits and her jewelry very carefully to demonstrate the difference. VM
ReplyDeleteShe looks stunning here - bold make up even for Maxima. Great colour and the fit shows off her height and figure…the king looks happy. Great look after a few ‘misses’ lately. JJ
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful evening gown, I love the style, beautiful gorgeous color. The brooch is magnificent, love the diamond earrings. Her makeup is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good dress voor M, but I donot understand an evening gown and a husband in a normal suit ( donot know what it is called in English), Mabel
ReplyDeleteI think in Greek fashion culture for men, white or black tie and tails is not part of their get-up for a formal or semi-formal occasion.
DeleteElle est vraiment magnifique mais pourquoi donc mettre cette ceinture trop large ; je ne voie pas ce qu'elle peut apporter à sa silhouette. Fabuleux bijoux dont la broche que je voudrais mieux voir ?!
ReplyDelete@Tulipe33 Agree with what you say. But the wide bealt doesn't bother me.
DeleteIf you took the buckle off it would become a cummerbund.
Perhaps if the buckel was taken off it would help highlight the fluid line of the gown and give more emphasis to that amazing brooch she is wearing.
Breath taken
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say that the Greek president, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou, has no fashion sense at all. And no advisors in that field as it seems. She always looks weirdly put together at larger state events. The dress she wore for the State Banquet was one of the slightly better sort, but still not good. This one here is... really bad.
ReplyDeleteSurely there must be something positive you can say about the woman.
DeleteThis is the second robe Queen Maxima has worn during her Greek tour by the Dutch fashion house Claes Iversen.
ReplyDeleteClaes Iversen is a youngish 45 year old Dutch designer and Queen Maxima seems to be an avid follower of his work.
If you type into ‘Google’ “maxima photos Claes Iversen” you will see the work he has done for the Queen which has often been seen in NexMyRoyles.
Fantastic look. css
ReplyDeleteMaxima did a good job during her tour in Greece. The dresses by Claes Iversen suit her particularly well. The big belt which was on fashion a few years ago can go to waste bin and eventually be replaced by a thin one.
ReplyDeleteOn the last day they both looked relaxed and ready to fly home. In the beginning the king looked very tired. Now he can smile again probably happy to go home to take a nap. The jewelry of the queen was beautiful but sometimes a bit overdone.
I doubt that he'll be able to take a nap when he gets home as there's an important security problem in the Netherlands that ino doubt will require his attention.
DeleteA problem is with the mafia drug ring and kidnapping of important personalities.
