Switzerland's President Ignazio Cassis and his wife Paola Rodoni Cassis are currently making a state visit to Belgium upon the invitation of the King and Queen of Belgium. On the evening of November 24, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a state banquet at the Royal Palace in honor of the President Ignazio Cassis and First Lady Paola Rodoni Cassis.
Wow! This caped gown is gorgeous. It accentuates her height and gives her a leaner body line. The trim at the neck of the underlying dress, and along the outside edge of the cape, is extraordinary. Obviously, her tiara and earrings are fabulous. Queen Mathilde always looks happy. Mrs. Cassis looks very nice; I wish we had a better look at her necklace and brooch. The men look nice in their formal attire too.
ReplyDeleteQ. Mathilde looks quite wonderful here. She has such natural warmth and elegance. The dress is a beautiful colour and silhouette for her, and the tiara and earrings are a very good match. A minor quibble for me is that the shoulders of the cape look a bit lumpy. Perhaps it’s just be the camera angle. (V.M.)
ReplyDeletei prefer Catherine's cape, this one is too plain and not well designed.

I prefer Mathildes dress. This one has a pure lines and there is nothing too much. -Siri
DeleteNot well designed ! that is exaggerated. Missing some embellishment ? possibly. Here it was not the intention.
DeleteHow can you say "Not well designed"? It' s from Valentino, one of the most elegant couturiers.

Goodness. It’s a week of lookey likey for sure. First the very similar outfits worn yesterday by Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima. Now a dress very similar to that worn by the Princess of Wales earlier in the week. This one lacks the embellishment of Catherine’s but it’s a fabulous choice for the Queen. Like the green dress worn by Madame Cassis as well. AnnieM
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look stunning in their own way. The first lady has chosen a gown that fits her beautifully and shows off her good shape. Mathilde has selected a style that rocks her to the stratosphere: the long lines accentuate her beautiful height and give her a beautiful lean look. The gown colour is soft and elegant and the subtle diamante detailing along the edges adds a touch of elegance.
ReplyDeleteWell done to both of them!

True!

Mathilde looks lovely and this sheath style is very flattering on her.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I'm a bit tired of these capes.

DeleteExquisite in its “ simpleness “ , this dress.
ReplyDeleteLove the narrow long sleeves. What a beautifull tiara!
Reminds me of Josephine de Beauharnais,

ReplyDeleteCapes are really in this season, huh? But I'm not complaining, this is another stunning example & it suits Mathilde incredibly well. I like that she didn't choose a bright shade or a bejewelled version in the light of Switzerland not having royalty & generally not being known for bold patterns & colours. She would've totally outshone the guest in anything more "out there".

Queen Mathilde looks fabulous. The dress is so elegant, the pale pink colour suits her and the laurel wreath tiara is so beautiful. Big diamond earrings are perfect with her hair and dress. Ladyofthemanor
ReplyDeleteYou are right - I totally agree.

Wow. what a wonderful look. Queen Mathilde looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHaven’t we seen this dress before? At the coronation of the Emperor of Japan. Beautifully tailored to HMQ. The color, with the sparkle trim, compliments the earrings, perfectly!
ReplyDeleteYess! I personally like it better this time around, though - it was meant to be worn with a tiara rather than with a hat like in Japan.

Q Mathilda looks stunning, great from head to toe. The Swiss First Lady looks also very nice. Great gray gown. css
ReplyDeleteI do love Mathilde's dress but I think the shoulder pads are a problem. Instead of adding structure they are just too bulky. Remove them and I think the whole structure of the dress improves.

A splendid appearance from the Queen. This cape gown looks outstanding. It has some interesting features. The subtle trim on the neckline of the gown and along the cape is very effective. The dress is very slimline and enchasing, the fit of the gown is fabulous. The cape effect is divine. The color of this ensemble is sublime. The tiara is positioned well. The diamond earrings were the perfect choice, I love them! The Swiss First lady looks lovely. I would love to see a closeup of her necklace and brooch.
ReplyDeleteDear Pierrette, Madame Cassis has a lovely figure and looks elegant this time. She is the first lady, if only for one year, and represents Switzerland, so that her sartorial choices do matter, however busy she may be professionally or perhaps even disinterested in clothes.
