The Countess of Wessex is paying a visit to Ethiopia at the request of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. On October 14, 2022, the Countess arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The Countess met with the President of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde at the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa.

Wow, what a lovely skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove the combination with the blazer: at the same time business-like and soft: well done ,
Mabel
I totally agree!

It would have been a fine look, if not for the sandals. You cannot wear beach shoes visiting the presidential office, no matter how warm the climate.
ReplyDeleteJust as well she isn't wearing beach shoes then.
Delete@Anon17:41 😆
DeleteAnon 17:41 - 😂
DeleteI agree with 12:39. Shoes are totally wrong. They are not beach shoes as such, but definitely way too casual.
DeleteDo you agree or don't you? If you don't think they're beach shoes then you don't agree. Anyone who tried walking on a beach in those shoes would break an ankle.
DeleteAnother rewear. The Countess of Wessex wore this ensemble in June of 2021 when she visited a new development project in Edinburgh Scotland.
ReplyDeleteThe only change is to the shoes she was wearing in Scotland.
I think the shoes she is wearing for her visit to Ethiopia are correct for the occasion.
I like the way she has kept accessories, jewelry etc to a minimum during her African tour.
Gorgeous outfit, though I prefer it with the chic pumps she originally wore with it. I also wish we could see it with the pink top as worn on the model, I think Sophie would look really pretty with that colour palette.
ReplyDelete-Nika-
The skirt is gorgeous, but a bit too long as most of her skirts. And another pair of white espadrilles. They ruin the look in my opinion. Imagine this outfit with shoes “à la Queen Laetitia “ or “à la CP Mary”. would have looked great. But I think she may have problems with her feet (I can surely relate to that…) you never see her in really high stiletto heels.
ReplyDeleteNot every woman is the type for stlettos. They do look good on Letizia, Catherine and Mary. But I think they're not for Sophie.
DeleteBut @Coralie, if you take into account the climate and the almost 'dress down' code for her African tour, I think they're O.K.
DeleteNice outfit. The skirt is a little shorter than many she has worn on this tour and the espadrilles are less clumpy than the ones which ruined yesterday’s outfit. The shoes she wore with this the last time would have been even better. This has been a mega visit. What a total star she is. 🥰
ReplyDeleteI have always heard that shoes can make or break an outfit. So far the Countess of Wessex has not made the grade!
ReplyDeleteOh nonsense.
DeleteAgree. A number of the really nice dresses worn on this tour have been spoiled by ugly shoes. 👞
Delete@18:41 Sorry, but I don't agree.
DeleteBei colori per Sophie e anche la scelta di gonna e blazer, ma non mi piacciono le scarpe di corda. La signora con lei indossa addirittura calze e scarpe chiuse e allora qualcosa non mi torna…

Very impressive to see Sophie continue to shine on such a lengthy and busy overseas trip. She is a fantastic representative of the British royal family and its great that she will continue to be at the forefront going forward. As for her fashion at this meeting, I agree with most comments about the shoe choice. Overall, it’s a nice outfit and I like how the structured jacket balances the skirt, however it tilts too informal for this meeting. The photo with the Ethiopian president and Sophie seems like they are attending two different events!
ReplyDeleteA nice look again today. How long is this trip?. She is doing a super job. She is holding my bag. This is a busy Schedule. css
ReplyDeleteWith such a skirt you do not wear Espadrilles. I would have been such a great oufit with sky high white heels.
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt, and specially the white espadrilles!
ReplyDeleteCherry
This is a great combination, love the skirt, the pleated effect, and length perfect. The jacket and blouse are a nice choice. Beautiful. She has certainly had a very busy schedule. A great trip.
ReplyDeleteIs this a fashion parade
DeleteIf men made all these comments we might be accused of something.
Good on her for proving it is totally safe to visit Ethiopia right now. Perhaps she should tell the UK FCO about her visit.
Anon 13.58 - it's a fashion blog so men can feel free to make comments about the clothing - brush that chip off your shoulder. The UK FCO don't need to be told about her visit - and she will have quite different levels of security from ordinary travellers.
DeleteWhat was the reason she visited Ethiopia, because they feel guilty after the only African country president Sahle-Work refused to take bus for Queen's Funeral while all Africans leaders took a bus without a complaint? It's was really disrespectful for African leaders, but this great woman Sahle-Work, Ethiopian president refused to be disrespect, she us a MAN. Ethiopian never bow down for anyone, like other Africans do,because they never colonized, Ethiopia is a great Nation!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a load of utter nonsense. Taking the bus was nothing to do with colonialism - plenty of other guests apart from African leaders (like membership royal families) took the bus. It was a practical arrangement for moving a large number of guests around. Instead those who insisted on having individual cars just helped create logistical problems. Yes, Ethiopian President and US President - you were a pain in the proverbial.
DeleteAnd not the reason the Countess visited Ethiopia.
Anonymous @17:27, this is a fashion blog, sometimes we digress and veer a little, but I honestly think that your rhetoric is a little misplaced on this site. I watch international news and follow the world as much as I can, but this is not the intent of this site. I would never enter a banter about politics with all the keyboard warriors that feel a need to vent their frustrations on line, I much prefer to read the many articles about these issues signed by true experts from either side. Please let us have our little frivolous escape….
ReplyDeleteBest Regards
Cherry
I so agree with you Cherry. This is our little fashion bubble. The world outside is hard enough. We need to relax and clear our minds and this is at least what I do here, by discussing length of skirts and choice of shoes. Love reading your comments by the way all nice ladies out there.!!
DeleteAnonymous @17:27 She is a great WOMAN not Man
