On the third day of their state visit to Sweden, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, accompanied by King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, visited Gothenburg. The day started with a visit to Lindholmen Science Park, an international innovation cluster focused on mobility, AI, visualization media and IT.
Afterwards, Swedish King and Queen and Dutch King and Queen attended a lunch hosted the County Governor of Västra Götaland County. Following the lunch, the royal couples were given a presentation on the Port of Gothenburg’s efforts to drive developments towards greener shipping in the EU.

Queen Silvia superb ... what an amazing classy style ... she looks fresh and lovely...
ReplyDeleteSilvia's outfit is delightful in style and colour; timeless elegance. Except the scarf on the handbag, which is oh so straight from the 70's and always looks awkward in my book. Max' business suit also has great style and colour, but the fuchsia headpiece looks weird; why wear it? The matching blouse buttoned up is wrong with the wide lapels. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteMaybe the fuchsia headpiece - utter kitsch IMO - is there because her hairdresser quit after two or three busy days.

Hey, let's not knock the headband. I notice it helps keep her hair pulled back and hangs lovely on her shoulders. I am all for anything that helps keep her hair in good style. :)
DeleteMaxima's hair is styled in a very retro way, which is very on trend. It has a late 60s-early 70s vibe. It looks very tidy and suits her. I don't know that she needed the bling, but would she be Maxima without it? I don't see anything wrong with wide lapels being buttoned up. Again, very retro. It goes along with the wide legged pants and chunky shoes.
DeleteThe scarf tied on the purse is very much on trend. AnaMaria
DeleteI could be wrong but my guess is the headband could be part and parcel of extensions.
DeleteI’m not an expert in this area but her hairdresser may be using this technique to get volume into her hair. A sort of wig attached to the headband and integrated into her own hair.
Queen Silvia looks very nice in Chanel. I like Queen Maxima's outfit, too, it is very well put together. However, it clashes completely with her husband's? I'd rather they coordinated better. It would definetely look better on pictures.
ReplyDeleteWell, there is a difference between Zara and Chanel!
ReplyDeleteMabel
It is huge difference.
DeleteAva
I wonder if you would even know the difference:-)
DeleteIf I had to choose between the somewhat stiff and voluminous Channel and the vibrant, trendy and versatile Zara, I’ll take the Zara hands down. I am not saying that couture can’t be exquisite, but sometimes is more about the name than the outfit.
DeleteCB
Love the colour coordination between the two queens! Silvia's outfit is tailored lovely and the structured top saves it from looking outdated. Maxima looks divine in this shade and I love the quirky pink she's paired it with. Not the biggest fan of the sparkly headband, but it suits her style and looks good with that hairstyle.

Agree on all points and also think the Zara suit worn by Max was a very nice nod to Sweden. Top marks for the whole of this royal visit!
DeleteI thought Zara to be a Spanish brand: what do you mean by a nod to Sweden?
DeleteMabel
Maxima wears a nice suit, as often less is more...
ReplyDeleteLoved Silivia's skirt suit. Gorgeous color and classic cut! Maxima's outfit looks nice except for the ridiculous headband.
ReplyDeleteS
Agreed, but Silvia wins hands down (it is Chanel after all, hard to compare to a Zara suit). If Maxima had just taken off that ridiculous headband, so much better. But the colors work well on her.
DeleteChel
Please spend some money on fashion magazines and apprise yoursel on current fashion styles. Máxima’s headband is perfect!
DeleteZara isnt a brand for women in their 80s
ReplyDeleteThis suit looks good on her, again a lot of fake hair. Too much fuss in my opinion. That hairband is hilarious. Lizz
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look good. The colours look lovely on both of them.
ReplyDeleteI liked Sylvia's jacket less before I read that it was Chanel. I wonder how many others honestly felt the same too.
Maxima's suit may be Zara but she wears it well and makes it look more stylish than that. I've no issue with her headband either. It suits the way her hair is arranged and gives her a youthful and fresh look, which is useful by day three of a state visit.
I watched the video of photo #2, with the sad little girl and what Maxima did for her with the flower - it is very charming.

It’s a Chanel week in all Royal households this week. The hair band is very summering.

Q Silvia looks stunning. Channel is always timeless. Q Maxima's suit is very nice, but with the blouse and headband to many colors IMO. css
ReplyDeleteI would not be so severe towards the headband, it fits with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks terrific, esp. the colour combination of her clothing. What a wonderful "coiffure" she has today. It looks so youthful. All together maxima made all the right fashion choices during the state visit to Sweden
ReplyDeleteLike your comment. I agree completely.
DeleteI actually think that she looks fantastic with this outfit, great color and fit. I see that many don’t like the headband, but somehow I think it gives her that touch of whim, and helps with her difficult hair.
ReplyDeleteCherry
Both ladies look great. Queen Silvia’s outfit is excellent in every respect and the trouser suit looks great on Queen Maxima. Think the headband goes well with the vibe of the whole outfit and keeps her straggly hair back without needing a hat.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Anon 21 13 that we have been treated to many great outfits this week. AnnieM
Love Silvia's Chanel--so classic and elegant. The colors are wonderful for her. I love the Zara suit Maxima is wearing--I love her in bright colors. Maxima looks marvelous in the suit but I'm not a fan of it paired with the bright pink blouse--maybe its the lighting with the photos but to me the pairing clashes too much. Then, there's that headband...the hairstyle is great for her but that headband is a big no for me.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I quite like both outfits. Coordinated colours, yet so different. Each queen stayed true to her own style and whilst they are so different in their personalities and sartorial preferences, there is a noticeable overall harmony. Well done, your majesties.

ReplyDeleteI am almost certain that the headband is hiding a fall. That is why her hair appears so long. I love the colors and Queen Silva looks fabulous as always.
ReplyDelete@Anon 14/10/22 04:04
DeleteI've thought the same thing myself about the headband which is part and parcel of a fall wig. A fall wig is to give length and volume to your own hair.
If this is the case, it's been done by a real professional.
Queen Silvia looks superb, a classic and elegant look, gorgeous color. Queen Maxima looks fantastic, I like the complete look, she wears this color beautiful, rich and vibrant. The head band does wonders, terrific choice.
ReplyDeleteMAY I SAY THANK YOU TO OUR BLOG MASTER (HELEN) FOR THE PHOTO COVERAGE SHE GAVE OF THE DUTCH ROYALS’ VISIT TO SWEDEN;
ReplyDeleteI THINK IT WAS THE BEST PHOTO COVERAGE AMONGST ALL THE ROYAL SITES ON THE NET.
MUCH APPRECIATED HELEN.
