On October 24, 2022, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the inauguration of the 2022-2023 season of the Royal Theatre (Teatro Real), which is the theatre's 26th season. The Teatro Real started the 2022/2023 season with "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi. Aida is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni.
MIPHAI Dress
She looks so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRossella
I don't like backless dresses, I find them tacky. And I'm not a fan of the hemline either, so a no from me on this occasion.
ReplyDeleteHilda
The Daily Mail has a photo from the back. VERY unflattering look - what was Letizia thinking. You should see the unfavorable comments; other times people love her fashion choices. *Regina
DeleteI agree 100%.
DeleteCompletely agree, the back looks tacky and cheap.
DeleteHer back looks deformed.
DeleteAva
After seeing the photos at Daily Mail I have to agree that this is not a good look for her from behind. Her shoulder blades look like she should be in pain. She is obviously obsessed about her physical fitness - which is not necessarily a bad thing - but I wonder if she really knows how this dress looks on her from behind.
DeleteEuropa
No, her back does not look deformed. It is called muscle from weight building.
DeleteThe Madam
Great look!
ReplyDelete...Marie
This is a wonderful unique look. The color of this gown is gorgeous. Love the gold accessories. The earrings are beautiful, I'm not sure what sort of stones they are.
ReplyDeleteShe should not wear the backless dress , her back looks horrible . The front of the dress is nice and the color suits her.
ReplyDeleteAva
Agree. The dress is lovely from the front and the high front/low back hemline is perfectly okay here. However, the very cut out back doesn't look great
DeleteI disagree I think she looks great.
DeleteThe Madam
She looks great and love the open back!
ReplyDeleteQueen Letizia is looking youthful and beautiful in this shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I'm disappointed that there weren't any Variety magazine images on the blog that MM photographed. Regrettable.
Sorry, no bueno.
ReplyDeleteDetails of the clutch and heels please.
ReplyDeleteA no from me: Hemline is just just the first thing. The backless back is too much and shows he skin and bone, rather than a healthy back. If it had been covered in lace, it might look better, but not the backless part. Also do not like the shoes with the grown. Anne
ReplyDeleteNot sure if she really needed to put her back on display like this. It’s her choice, of course, but it left me with a bad taste. This isn’t the first time her outfits push the limit of “acceptable”, and it is her prerogative to do it. I just think that takes away from her personal brand and that of the Spanish monarchy. Is it worth it? Not sure about that. We’ll see how history judges it.
DeleteCH
Letitia’s earrings are fabulous
ReplyDeleteMrs Cleaver
LOVE the earrings!!
DeleteEuropa
Beautiful blue dress from MIPHAI! Queen Letizia’s hair is soft and romantic.
ReplyDelete/Margarita
Ok...so how do you manage bra-wise with such a dress? She clearly isn't wearing q conventional bra.
ReplyDeleteNot a conventional but there are alternatives, "one way" sticky bra f.i.
ReplyDeleteLetizia does not stay in the sun, It is cream . I think that salon UV are forbbiden in Spain, It is very dangerous.
DeleteAlthough the temperature is still soft in Spain I think the design of this dress is more something for the summer. I don't like uneven hemlines and the open back of the dress is not very flattering. Dark blue is a color that I do not like on Queen Letizia. She looks better in vibrant colors like red, fuchsia, white, off white, turquoise, pink, grass green, etc...
ReplyDeleteSoft temperatures? Almost 27C degress...summer actually.
DeleteQueen Letizia looks superb, she has the confidence and flair to wear this dress perfectly. This is a beautiful gown, I don't normally like hemlines such as this, but she makes this work. The back cut out, again she looks fabulous. The earrings are gorgeous, I'm not sure what the stones are but they are a marvellous size. The color of her shoes and clutch look lovely, though I do love the sandals the model is wearing.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteGreat
ReplyDeleteI love this. It’s very different and a bit daring, but I think Q. Letitia carries it off well. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteLa reine a l'air sportive et jeune ce soir-là. La robe, les cheveux, le maquillage, le sourire de l'homme - une source de joie.
ReplyDeleteNormally I am one of Letizias greatest fans, but this time I agree with those who find the dress tacky. In her position as a Queen it is not suitable.
ReplyDeleteWhat position actually? She only has a salary, not properties at all as all bellong to the State and there is no protocol. She can wear whatever she wants, the other day the Palace said she can even wear sneakers the whole time .
DeleteAnon 08:29 Can doesn't mean should or it looks proper.
DeleteAva
@ Coralie. Your queenly expectations seemed to be shaped by pictures in fairy tales. There are no written rules or dress codes for queens. The older one dress very differently from the younger ones. Bella
DeleteAva, In Spain, It is "proper"..I do not understand the problem with other countries where people should not be interested. Spain only ask that she must wear Spanish brands...so..done!!
DeleteThe dress looks fine from the front. The back is not the best look. The earrings are great. css
ReplyDeleteI saw the front of the dress and was fully on board - but the back is a no for me. Not necessarily because it doesn't look flattering, but because it's the wrong occasion. If it was a full length gala gown event, go for the cut. If it's a summery affair with 40 degrees outside, go for it in a different colour. But autumn, indoors and more of a cocktail event... nope - it's a pass from me. Love the shoes, though!
ReplyDelete-Nika-
I saw a good picture of her back in a Dutch magazine (probably the same as in the Daily Mail). It is horrible. She has the back of a body builder. One can also see that her bronzed tone is fake. I cannot find this beautiful nor feminine.
ReplyDeleteLove the earrings, love the front of the dress. The colour looks beautiful on Letizia.
ReplyDeleteBut the back of the dress... a big no! She looks so bony, not my cup of tea.
Margarita
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the comments, it seems that anyone with flaws should hide. For years being a perfectionist was her greatest 'flaw'. Now, evidently there are things about her that are not so perfect the crows descend with the body shaming narrative. A shame! This is the body she was gifted with, and has used it for years to practice the art of dance, (there are pictures as a teenager) and continues to exercise..as should all women. - Bella
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it's "body shaming." If something doesn't look good on you, it just doesn't look good on you. That's why you try on more than one dress/outfit when you go shopping. You don't just grab the first thing on the rack and then leave the store. And, just because you're skinny does not mean you can wear anything and everything. It's a mistake that women every where often make. Every human body is both "flawed" and "perfection" *and* different. I, personally (don't want to speak for any one else) don't think this dress looks good on her frame/body-bone structure. I'm not saying she should be ashamed about it or feel like less of a person or that she should never show her back ever again. I'm just saying this particular dress - and the way it displays her back and shoulders - does not look good - imo (and apparently that of many others). And I still think that if she truly knew how it looks she would not have worn it *or* would have had it slightly altered to be more flattering. It will be interesting to see if this dress will ever be repeated.
DeleteEuropa.
Everyone lives in the 'castle of their skin' or body if you will, and there are comments that refer to her back as ugly, skin and bones etc. Unacceptable! If the dress does not suit her body type that is an opinion, even though from the front it looks like so many of the queen's dresses that are praised. The designer's creative surprise in the back is nothing new, but placing personal expectations of what a queen should look like on others is also unacceptable. Some are pleased only when big dresses and big jeweled tiaras are on display, literally trapping these women in a childlike fairytale for most formal public appearances.
DeleteFrankly, Spanish women are daring and stylish, and to your point, in recent years, only the white tuxedo dress has been repeated. Bella.
