  1. Interesting colours here, and quite flattering to Q. Mathilde’s complexion. I’m not so sure about the style of the dress with its combination of draping and gathers. Maybe too much detail? I’m also finding the hat to be a bit small. I see she’s picked up Q. Max’s habit of carrying around gloves. It’s a pet peeve of mine. Surely if it’s cold enough for gloves she’d need a jacket or coat. (V.M.)

    1. @VM Queen Mathilde's dress is a rewear of a dress designed by Dries Van Nooten. The hat has the right size for the queen's head. Queen Mathllde did not picked up Queen Maxima's habit of carrying gloves she is doing this for a long time, especially when on official or state visits. It is part of the formal outfit of an elegant lady. It has nothing to do with weather conditions.

  2. Lovely Mathilde! Her dress is a fun pattern for Autumn with its colorful random yellow leaves. She has such a warm and connected affect in her interactions.

    1. She radiates kindness, warmth and approachability. I am not a fan of the hat, dress or shoes. It looks too contrived and doesn’t suit her figure. MR

First Lady Diana is the picture of poise and grace. Lovely well-fitted dress and matching shoes. Sadly, the Queen chose a dress that does not flatter her figure. An A-line of simple sheath would hang do much better than call attention to her abdomen with the rushing. But I like her pop of fall color -- looks cheery.

  4. Oh boy, this dress is not a good choice for Mathilde - or anyone really. The light grey washes her out and makes her look tired. A darker grey might work better with her complexion. The mustard yellow is too warm for her. Mathilde looks better wearing cooler tones. Also the draping of the dress, accentuating the hip area, is not a good look on any woman.
Her interaction with the very cute Ukrainian children and others is very lovely though.

  5. Why does Mathilde wear those terrible hats? The first lady of Lithuania - she is here without a mistake. I especially praise the beautiful hairstyle and makeup of the wife of the Lithuanian president. Daniela

    1. I actually really like her hats. It's a great way to keep her face visible and be approachable for everybody. Compare it to Maxima, for example, who has stunning hats, but they're super impractical when interacting with the public or the host couple, as well as often obscuring half of her face in pictures. Not sure if protocol requires her to wear hats, but if she must, I like these pillbox-y ones best.

  6. I think Mathilde looks really great here: love the dark grey-mustard colour combination of dress and nice hat, and the flowers on the dress, not to forget the exquisite shoes ,

    1. I agree. Mabel. I especially like the hat--so much better than the strange blue saucer from earlier in the week. However, the First lady's elegant wine dress is easily, for me, the best outfit her

  8. Queen Mathilde looks lovely, but the gathers at the stomach, not so much detail IMO and the dress would have looked even better. The yellow shoes are a bit much, maybe a grey shade of shoe would have blended better, regardless she looks lovely. The President's wife looks fabulous. I love her choice of jewellery.

  9. Love the subtile colour combination orange with grey. Quite extraordinary. The orange accessories complete the picture. Dress might be from Dries van Nooten?

  10. Queen Mathilde looks very lovely in her repeated Dries Van Nooten dress. The colors suit her very well. QM is not afraid to use some color in her outfits. Now with the soft temperatures and sunshine in Europe it is so nice to see some color before the winter really starts. Her hair and hat are better than the first day. She really cares about the Ukrainian children we can see it at her face. The first lady's lace dress is so old fashion and we can see that she is wearing a step in under her dress.

  12. Hmm, I'm a bit torn on Mathilde's look. The colour combination is fun and the accessoires are great. But the midsection of the dress is awkwardly wrapped and tugging a bit too much. And when photographed from afar, the leaf print looks like rather big mustard stains... So from the middle upwards and up close, it's great, the rest a bit meh. I love the first lady's dress, though. The brocade pattern looks so rich and matches the autumnal shade perfectly!
