  1. Queen Silvia is wearing the Brazilian tiara, maybe as a gesture to the south american queen Máxima

    1. The Braganza tiara is the Swedish top gun, worn for major state affairs and the visit of the Dutch king is a major affair regardless of his wifes origins. It is a magnificent tiara and Queen Silvia always looks wonderful wearing it. Ladyofthemanor

  3. A state dinner is a feast for the eyes ! Maxima looks amazing! The Stuart tiara and that brooch is stunning !
Victoria is a vision in purple.
Sofia in her wedding tiara in its original setting is quite lovely.
    HMO looks fabulous!

  4. Maxima's dress is a great color but the cape thing is much shorter than the gown and on the bottom of the gown it looks like some of the embellishments fell off.

    1. It looks like a Parsi Gara Sari that's been restyled cleverly as a dress. I recall first seeing this dress on her visit to India and thought it was a clever way to pay homage to the local craftsmanship while still keeping her own sense of style. So the bit at the bottom is likely where the embroidery tapers off and you don't see it when it's traditionally draped. Similarly, she's a very tall woman, so her tailor likely ran out of yardage to make the cape any longer.

    2. It is Made of Indian fabric, model like a sari, that is why the hem is uneven

  6. Hmmm.
I love the colour and raw silk of Victoria's gown but wish that she didn't have that huge rosette on her shoulder. When combined with the sash, it makes her look like a wrapped gift.

I like Maxima's brocade/embroidered dress and especially the colour, but wish that the long one-sided cape sleeve (if it had to be there) reached the floor instead of hanging an inch or two above.

To me, Sylvia and Sofia's gowns are just OK, with Sofia's being the better style of the two.

    1. Queen Maxima's dress was made for her state visit to Inda. It was meant to echo a sari THUS the shorter drape object from one shoulder. A sort of compliment to India. I suspect it is made from a sari. A sari is quite difficult to manage if you have not practiced it a lot. Getting it into the right folds etc. is not that difficult but wearing it with panache is if you are not used to it. It is somewhat more taxing to move about and relax in company without coming unstuck. That I think is why she had two very sari like evening dresses on that India trip. In an evening gown all the folds and pleats stay put without the help of the wearer.

  7. Wow, what fabulous photos! Queen Maxima shows her absolute best at these formal events, arguably better than any other royal in my opinion, and she shines very bright again in Sweden. The dress is one of the best ever…perfect color, fit, design, and a one shoulder cape with that gorgeous tiara are worth major fashion claps! CP Victoria also shows up big for formal events and I think this vibrant blue gown is very good on her. The bright pink color on Queen Silvia’s dress is nice but the best parts of her ensemble are the drool worthy necklace and tiara! Princess Sophia’s dress and hairdo miss the mark for me, but kudos to the men that all look very handsome.

  9. Such richness for one day! More lovely bright colours. Well done to the Swedish ladies for avoiding greys and creams and whites. I love all these dresses with Crown Princess Victoria's fabulous purple my favourite this time. Queen Maxima looks fantastic this time and Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia are lovely as well. Great photos. Really brightens up the day.

    2. I agree, she wins the day. Those jewels are blowing me away. They all look fantastic though, especially the jewel tones of the Swedish royals. Maxima's dress print is a little on the curtain side for me, but she is groomed to perfection.

  12. I am blown away!!! This state dinner is a sight for sore eyes--the gorgeous jewels, the beautiful gowns, everything--oh. my. stars!!! Maxima has completely redeemed herself for her blah arrival outfit--what a stunning gown--the embroidery is so amazing and she is fashion winner by a mile. And, she's brought out the Stuart tiara too. Its like Maxima has given us reward for patiently waiting through the past few years. Of course, Queen Silvia is pretty in pink and she's wearing her big gun too--the Braganza. I agree with Sofia's idea that Silvia was perhaps giving a nod to Maxima.I like Victoria's gown except for that big fluff of fabric on her right shoulder--remove it and this gown could become wonderful. I do love that she's wearing the Napoleon amethyst tiara as it so suits her. Sofia's emerald gown is lovely--a great color for her--but its a touch too long. I also wish she would play about a bit more in the Swedish tiara vault. I know she seems to really love her wedding tiara but I would really like to see her wear something else sometime--this would have been the perfect occasion to add more sizeable sparkle. Princess Christina looks lovely in her pretty purple gown--and is that the Connaught tiara peeking out of her hair perhaps. All the gentlemen are so handsome in their evening attire. So crazy happy to see such a fabulous affair back on these pages again!

  14. Victoria looks regal and elegant, love the color and the exquisite tailoring, perfect silhouette that highlights her very small waist, and the right amount of volume on the skirt to make it substantive. Sofia looks fine, but perhaps a little forgettable. I do not like Queen Sylvia’s dress, too much fabric for such color. Finally Maxima, I am on the fence, I do like the style of the dress and as usual she is at her best on these type of events, and yet I can’t love the fabric, it reminds me of candy wrappers, love her hairstyle.

  18. The stronger colours of the Swedish ladies are again the better ones for me.
Simple and good cut : Victoria the winner, Sofia also very nice, Queen Sylvia just nice.
Maxima: too pale and summery and again too much tissue.

  20. Sofias gown is to long and the colour is not right for her. Victoria and and Silvia look lovely. Spot on!

  21. I will just give comments on Queen Maxima's fantastic dress by Jan Taminiau and on CP Victoria's. The dress was made for a state visit to India, I still find it so beautiful. Personally I prefer a smaller tiara with this dress. But Maxima probably worn a version of the Stuart tiara because she expected that the other royal ladies worn their biggest tiara's too.
I also love CP Victoria's purple dress and the tiara and earrings too. This is a good color for the CP.
The rest has been discussed enough by the other bloggers.

  22. Victoria in rich purple, Sofia in deep green, Silvia and Maxima in different shades of pink. All the dresses look very lovely and elegant. And the jewels are simply amazing, especially when you see them in motion under the lights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPiMU_fP3_0

  23. They all look fabulous.
I especially like Victoria´s entire look. Sofia´s colour is also wonderful, though I wish she hadn´t pulled her dress off the shoulder as much and instead worn it a bit higher up - which would have worked better with its overall length and sleeve length.
Silvia´s colour is ok (it is pink week amongst royals :-) but her gown looks a bit bulky around the hips. Her tiara is impressive.
    Maxima looks great.

  24. Those jewel tones really are a sight to behold. I love the simplicity of Victoria's and Sofia's gowns, but I must admit that it's really Maxima who captures my eyes - there's so much to discover - in a good way - that you really want to zoom into the picture, wish for a video to see it in motion, know more about how and why she picked these accessoires... She might be over the top often, but I gotta admit that this is kinda what I want from a queen - a look that I cannot take my eyes off for a long time!

    Victoria top!

  26. The ladies all look terrific. Only critical point the haircut of Sofia. Those wisps on both sides! She does not need to cover part of her face cause she is a beautiful lady. Second critical point the gentlemen. Of course handsome in their uniforms but why all those fake decorations. For example you go on a state visit and you get a decoration. For what??? Looks a little bit silly

    1. If you live in the States you cannot come home for every occasion. Besides this is a state visit and I think she is only coming home for family matters, like Christmas, Summer holidays etc...Her husband has his job in the US. I suppose the children are going to school there. The less trips by plane are made, the better it is for the environment.

  30. Not keen on Silvia dress. Victoria and Sofia looks nice, but Maxima is a home run.

  31. CP Victoria looks great, nice match of tiara and dress. The dress could have done without the puffy thing on the shoulder. I am on the fence about Maxima's dress: on the one hand, the fabric with the exquisite embroidery looks so incredibly beautiful; on the other, there's so much detail that there is no focus. Kind of reminds of curtains. Even that giant brooch on her shoulder gets lost against the background of the fabric. Hair and make up are fantastic.

  32. The CP Victoria looks stunning in the dark purple and the beautiful crown. Princess Sophie also looks stunning in the dark green with the crown and the buttoned sleeves are an added interesting feature. Queen Silvia looks lovely though matronly. Queen Maxima's dress is lovely though it looks odd at the bottom hemline and the all over pattern of the gown makes her look like she is standing behind long drapes. Why is King wearing that odd look necklace? Jane
