All looking good but OMG Prince Carl Philip is smashing, especially in that suit.

I think the pant leg is a little too tight at the bottom. I know that's the current cut that's in fashion for men but I will be glad when it swings back around to a straight leg with one "break" at the cuff. Much more flattering on a man *and* for a man at any age. Older men look ridiculous wearing the cut CP has on.

What is the name of Princess Sofia's hair colour?
    Beautiful.

  3. I love what Victoria is wearing. So chic.
Silvia looks fine too. I do like that she has some white as a contrasting colour; I just wish it hadn´t been the pillbox hat. It looks a bit nurse-like.
Sofia is entirely in black, and that´s a pity. I like her skirt and shoes, but not the jacket (sleeves too puffy and peplum too big), or the thing on her head.
Also, nice to see that Daniel finally got his hair cut ABOVE the collar.

  4. Is there a reason why everybody is wearing black or dark blue?
Maybe our Swedish bloggers could explain.
For those in the blog who make comments on hand holding, it looks like Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are holding hands.
See photo N°2. Or could it just be the camera playing tricks?

For the Opening of Parliament, the Swedish royal ladies traditionally wear black and white.

This is a new tradition. We know Silvia and Princess Lillian used to wear colors earlier. In 1999 Victoria was in grey. In 1995 and 2001 in green. I remember Silvia in red many years ago and Lilian usually wore color. Silvia in red in 1976. So not always in black or white, https://www.svtstatic.se/image/custom/1024/28665398/1603178679?format=auto&chromaSubSampling=false&enableAvif=true

    4. Thanks fellow bloggers for the information.
I'm still not too sure what the protocol is.
Anyway, it's not important, let's move on.

It is a dresscode and tradition to wear black and white in Sweden / due to opening of the Swedish Parliament

      Delete
    6. The dresscode in black,b/w, grey or navy is a variation of the court dress all had to wear for State Opening of Swedish Parliament until well in the 1970's. It was a full blown tiara event in dark, sombre court dress until then, only when the now King ascended to the throne (he was quite a young king then, and had modern ideas) things changed. The colour-scheme, however, has remained. All photos of the Swedish royal ladies wearing colourful outfits are from the second event of that day, which is a concert in the evening.

The black/white was a tradition from another Queen in the early 1900. It was picked up again later on by Queen Silvia and has been in use for many years now.

All 3 RL look their best. The only thing I don't care is the headband on Sofia. css

Queen Silvia wins the day (IMO). Very elegant and chic. I like the Milly suit that Princess Victoria is wearing. Usually I love what Princess Sofia wears, but it's not to my liking today. Headband not good.

All of the Swedish royal ladies look wonderful today! Queen Silvia's look is classic, CP Victoria's look is a fresh take on a classic look, and Princess Sofia's look is a nice modern look. Any issues for me? Yes, I wish Sofia's headband had been better placed to keep her bangs from coming loose as her hair keeps getting in her eyes. The King is the fashion winner for the gentlemen--his suit fits beautifully. Prince Daniel needs to have his jacket re-fitted--its pulling across his chest. Still Daniel looks handsome. Prince Carl Philip's suit needs to be a bit re-sized. The trousers are too narrow in his lower legs and the jacket is too tight--but he is so handsome it might not manner.

I love CP Victoria's suit. In fact she is always wearing the same for the opening of the "Riksdag". The other royal ladies are looking good too. I wonder why each year they wear black to open the parliament.

  10. Dear Janet, seems as if the man (or Prince) is good looking, he is forgiven by you for his dress mistakes.
You know what? I have the same weakness for a good looking man, especially when he is a Prince.
And if the Prince is on a white horse, I just melt like an ice cube in the hot, midday sun :-))

  11. Les tenues de toutes les dames sont stylées même si j'aime particulièrement l'ensemble noir de Victoria avec la touche de blanc !

Prince Carl Phillip is a handsome prince, but if he would shave his jaws and leave a thin beard around his face, he would be more handsome. His hair is usually too long. A little bit shorter and he would be smashing. It is probably the custom among Swedish royal men to let their hair grow as King Carl Gustaf's hair is too long in his neck too.

Not a fan of Sophie's peplum outfit, makes her appear 'chunky'. The hair piece is also a bit odd. The Queen and Victoria, looked lovely. Anne
