On September 18, 2022, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik, King Harald and Queen Sonja, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel and Queen Jetsun Pema, Emperor Naruhito, Prince Alois and Princess Sophie, Queen Anne-Marie and Prince Pavlos paid their respects to Queen Elizabeth II who is lying in state in Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster.
Queen Margrethe with wet eyes trying not to cry broke my heart.
ReplyDeleteQueen Margrethe has often remarked that she was very close to the Queen. If you google her interviews over the years, given during the Queen's landmark celebrations, you will hear her speak lovingly about their shared interests and admirations. She even says in one of them "We're all family". I am not surprised by her grief and am also saddened by her tears.

Queen Margrethe is now the world's only queen regnant. *Regina
DeleteYes, "Daisy" has lost her "Lilibet". God bless her. And may Her Majesty rest in peace.
DeleteWhere are the representatives from The Netherlands and Monaco?
ReplyDeleteThere were also there
DeleteAll the royals paid there respect, some before the Buckingham palace event some after. There was a set time for each royal house for when.
DeleteThank you to the moderator for bringing all these photos together so we can see so many in one place. Queen Margarethe seems most affected—even in a bit of a concerning way. The ladies are all appropriately dressed. Letizia is quite elegant. I do wish Masako of Japan was there. It seems her husband came alone.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised, the empress hardly travels abroad; remember she has been ill during some years.
DeleteEmpress Masako was at the funeral. Just not at this particular viewing event.

Empress Masako has travelled with her husband to London. She attended Westminster Abbey Service alongside him.
DeleteI'd like to join with @Anon 19/9/22 04:22 to say thank you to our moderator for her work. Let's hope, little by little, we can get back to pure fashion.
DeleteTrès émue par la reine Margrethe qui essaie le plus possible de retenir ses larmes. Masako devait venir avec son époux ; j'espère que rien d'important ne l'a empêchée !
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so sad, a reminder of the interconnected royal relations and that they are all family as well as heads of state
ReplyDeleteA very sad, occasion. Thank you to the Moderator for the splendid coverage.
ReplyDeleteVery sad faces indeed. Saying goodbye for the last time, to a friend and a grand Lady. We have never been promised a tomorrow only today. We all need to make the best of it as long as we are allowed to do so. By the Grace of God. css
