Yesterday evening, Dutch Queen Máxima delivered a speech at a networking reception at San Francisco City Hall. On the morning of September 7, the Queen visited the University of California in Berkeley. This world-renowned university has played a key role in the success of Silicon Valley and has strong ties with the Netherlands. It offers a program in Dutch studies and is home to the Queen Beatrix Chair of Dutch Language, Literature and Culture.

NATAN floral printed twill blouse and floral printed pleated skirt
Well no-one can accuse Queen Maxima of not ringing the changes! The top worn in the first pics is a most bizarre choice for this event. The men in the background in the arrival photo are in formal suits while she looks like she's going clubbing. The green dress, on the other hand, is so dignified as to be verging on matronly! However, she looks great in the dress complemented by the elegant up do so no complaints on that one.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely. I hope she get everything done before she leaves for Texas. css
ReplyDeleteRidiculous top and unmatching pants and another Natan monstrosity. She looked much better the previous day.
ReplyDeleteThe top and pants are from Claes Iversen
DeleteI love her look with the pretty green dress! AND her hair too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a honor that Queen Maxima visited my alma mater. Prince Friso and Princess Laurentine had already studied at Cal in the past. Cal has a great connection with the Dutch royal family
ReplyDeleteI also know the prince of Norway went to Berkeley
DeleteThe gold outfit is unfortunate, even if it was for an evening soirée it’s still not flattering, it looks like a 70’s disco outfit, and the toes spilling out of the sandals are just not a good look. I however find the green dress appropriate and well matched with a neat hairdo. I like Maxima’s exuberance, but sometimes she just looks like she is in costume.

The gold outfit is beautiful in my opinion. Something else like all these boring royals wearing.
DeleteWhat a difference one day can make from nice dress in pink to strange top and wrong pants and then green dress suited not for her. .
ReplyDeleteAva
That golden outfit is perfect for a night of partying and dancing. She looks stunning! But if it is for giving a morning speech it is a really strange choice.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw 3rd photo, then I was surprised how slim and long her legs look, also belt added to her length. The top looks indeed over the top for a daytime event but she looks great in it and carry it off.
ReplyDeleteThe second dress is one of the better choices from Natan. Nice color and fits her well.
And it is always pleasure to see when Maxima's hair are combed and styled.

The outfit by Claes Iversen is not appropriate for such a visit. The green dress is O.K. for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteWho is deciding what is appropriate or not?
DeleteGosh not appropriate, silly comment
DeleteHer green dress is beautiful and suits her well (lovely hair). BUT that top is just "over the top" It looks ridiculous, laughable and comical. ~MS~
ReplyDeleteShe is experiencing her finest hour. Traveling alone and she also thinks that she is very important. Now the clothes: golden suit laughable and unflattering. The dress wouldn't look out of place on her mother-in-law either, I don't like the hairstyles full of extensions. Betty
ReplyDeleteNail on the head, in absence of her always over the top hats.
DeleteElisabeth
So you know what Maxima is thinking Betty? I think that you are the one being laughable here. Maxima looks amazing in this golden dress, over the top of course - but who cares . She is beautiful
DeleteExactly Maxima looks glamorous. Betty and Elisabeth seems to be close with the queen (laugh)
DeleteShe is surely more important than you
DeleteThis is what I want to see, like the shirt very much. She is the queen of fashion in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you!
DeleteSo good to have Queen Max back with her, good, bad and the ugly fashion adventures. She gives us a rocky ride as you never quite know what tomorrow will bring. But in the end, you can't help but love her.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a sunflower on her chest!
ReplyDeleteLove it! So Max, so original. Keep up, don’t become a boring one!
ReplyDeleteCH
Queen Maxima looks absolutely stunning!!! Top Class!!!
ReplyDeleteSome people here criticize the Queen for the fashion, she looks like a person with a nice personality, no one has the right to make a material judgment about simple things, at the end she has class, smart lady andan incredible personality for a person, the people that criticize her in my opinion are no smart and have no right to make any offensive comment
ReplyDelete@08:57, this is precisely what this blog is about, not about personality or character, people can have diverse opinions on fashion, of course some writers seem to be a little blunt in their language, but nothing offensive in my opinion. One shouldn't take fashion comments as a personal attack, it looks like some get all aggravated simply because others think different. Also the use of appropriate when talking about an outfit doesn't have to be dissected, personally I find the gold outfit inappropriate for the occasion simply because the key of elegance an poise has a lot to do with wearing the right clothes for the event, time, venue, culture etc., I would find it inappropriate if a Royal would show up with blue jeans an flip flops to a white tie affair, and viceversa. That is my personal opinion and nobody should have a problem with that.
