On September 20, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Crown Princess Amalia, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands attended the annual Prinsjesdag 2022 (Prince's Day 2022) at the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theater) in the Hague.
Prinsjesdag is the day on which the opening of the Dutch Parliament takes place on the third Tuesday in September. On that day, the reigning monarch of the Netherlands traditionally gives a speech from the throne at a joint session of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives. After the speech from the throne, the Royal Family went to the Noordeinde Palace, where the balcony scene traditionally takes place.
Benchellal Ice-grey Coat Dress
Asos forest green ruched bodice drape maxi dress
So maxima is rocking a duvet, laurentien is wearing a colour that doesn’t suit her at all and Amalia looks lovely. Km
ReplyDeleteduvet indeed!
DeleteMaxima looks divine. Very original retro look. A love the mono chrome colors . Looks beautiful om photo. However the look is really winter compared to the other ladies
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteNooe. Too much fabric on all of the dresses.
ReplyDeleteAmalia looks quite good, I wonder about the jewels she is wearing. For Maxima, what to say; she obviously doesn't know words as simplicity, discreetness, classy etc
ReplyDelete@MaryT she does, you don't.
DeleteWell anonym17:57, if you say so .... don't think I will change my mind.
DeleteI totally agree with you MaryT!
DeleteShelley
Agree with you Mary T.
DeleteMáxima's dress is art and I love it.
DeleteI totally agree with Mary T. IIn my opinion Queen Maxima often chooses wrong outfit.
DeleteThe dresses are rather bulky and not particularly flattering. The hair and makeup look great.
ReplyDelete...Marie
Très en couleurs cette fête du prince 2022 ; ravissante Amalia dans cette robe longue drapée vert forêt au corsage froncé en V qui lui va à merveille ; les émeraudes sont très belles !
ReplyDeleteMaxima looks like she thought they were heading for the North Pole.
ReplyDeleteAmalia's dress is beautiful, but doesn't suit her body type.
Princess Laurentien looks wonderful in that pastel pink. I'm not usually one for large jewelry, but it works here on her, especially since the dress is simple. CP Amalia looks lovely as well, especially her hair and makeup. I'm not quite sure about her dress sleeves though. And Maxima, love the dramatic top of this dress (it suits her flair for bold), but I'm not sold on the cut of the skirt with the way the slit is done. But the color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteChel
The best one is Laurentien. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteHilda
What is this? Looks like she's dressed for a much, much and much cold weather.
ReplyDeleteBack to 1920 Máxima ?? Too theatrale for my taste
ReplyDeleteNice as Maxima's dress is, it seems out of place for September. More suited to November. It reminds me of the 30's styles for women, in the time of Wooster and Jeeves. CP Amalia has a lovely dress which matches her preference for loose flowing fabric. The hair and makeup of all the ladies is perfect.

I like Maxima´s dress as far as the design and color goes. I find the fabric a bit too heavy. I realise it needs a rather stiff fabric but I think this is too much. The design is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI find Amalia´s dress ugly. Don't like the colour, too much fabric especially in the sleeves. The whole look is all too fussy with the sleeves, the low cut, riband and strings of hair hanging all over. The hat looks nice on her but does not go with the dress.
Ladyofthemanor
I agree with you. Amalia’s dress is ugly and doesn’t look good in her. She looks like a fifty year old matrone in the 60’s….
DeleteWhat were they thinking? Bad choices all around.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you.

As much as I look forward to find what queen Máxima will wear, this is just a disaster, it borders on theatrical. Wondering if she wasn’t boiling under that outfit.
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks like a heavy blanket, the excessive amount of fabric, the enormous shawl or whatever it is, hat, gloves etc., I can only like one thing, the color.
Amalia’s dress is very pretty, I think she would’ve benefitted if the hair had been gathered with a semi-updo, her appearance is also a little cluttered.
Cherry
Cannot agree more.
DeleteMy thoughts too.
DeleteIf Maxima would have left the shawl thing off the outfit would have looked perfect four the occasion.
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE Maxima's coat/dress with the shawl-y collar or whatever it is - amazing, and I seem to be the only one who likes it. :-)
ReplyDeleteAmalia has such a lovely face, favours her dad, I think. I love the colour and cut of her dress.
Sadly, too much of everything from fabric (other than the color of the Queens outfit which beautiful), winter outfit in Sept., and odd wrap are over the top, which is never a good look. Amalia, dress not her best choice, especially with off colored hat and shoes she wore. The sister in law too much jewelry, and dress much to pale. jane
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard one for me. where does one start?
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I'll do is make a good pot of tea and then have a good think.
I can see that Princess Laurentien is living up to form with her chunky jewels and rose hat. For the rest, I'll have to phone in later.
Sorry for the delay.
Cannot make up my mind if I like Q Maximas gown. I like the color. The wrap is too much. Pss Amalia looks lovely, also like the necklace and earrings a lot. All grown up. I like Pss Laurentien's gown. css
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks beautiful, I love this retro style gown. Her hat and up style hair look so elegant. CP Amalia, looks gorgeous, a very pretty gown, the color suits her beautifully. The diamond and emerald jewels are stunning, the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteOMG Amalia ,verklage dein Desingner und Friseur , absolut scheußlich die Frisur ,der Hut und das Kleid . Wie eine Oma und nicht wie eine 18jährige
ReplyDeleteBesides that Queen Maxima is wearing a questionable duvet outfit, I have always thought that the dress code for this event in the Netherlands is very strange. And this year the ladies seem to dress in different kinds of dress codes.

One of the few occasions I find Princess Laurentien best dressed compared to the rest. The light pink may not be the best colour on her, still it's way better than the Queen and the Princess of Orange (sporting a hat of her mother that does not suit her at all, irrespective of re-using being a good thing in general).
ReplyDeleteMaxima è sempre tanta roba.
ReplyDeleteNon ho capito se lo scialle è attaccato all'abito-cappotto o si può staccare?
Same thought & question !
DeleteOh my! Maxima brought the bedspread--very little overwhelms Max but this outfit does. Amalia's gown is lovely--great color and great color on Amalia. Not a fan of her hat but she's got plenty of time to learn about fabulous hats. Laurentian dress is a beautiful shade of pink and it looks good on her but I can't tell much else.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Q Maximum really rocks the high impact looks!
ReplyDeleteMaxims can never be too much in my book. I think she looks smashing!
ReplyDeleteAmalia’s gown is a brilliant choice and flatters her figure by accentuating her waist. I love the rich deep green contrasting with her blonde hair and the feminine floaty fabric. Maxima just made me shake my head in confusion—perhaps she has good muscles to hold up all that fabric and is immune to heatstroke . Laurentine is somewhere between the two.
ReplyDeleteOK ladies, my comment is strictly about fashion, not whether she is fun, and engaging. This dress is one of those you see in the runway and think is just weird, and surely if anybody dares to wear it, they will surely tweaked to make it less strange, but no.... it looks heavy, unflattering and with space suit vibe, sorry to say I find it horrendous, the hat, gloves, jewels and everything else use makes it even worse. Amalia looks fine, nothing remarkable and a tad busy. I can't appreciate Princess Laurentiene dress on these pictures, it looks fine, but the necklace seems a little too much.
ReplyDeletethey are human beings with expressions and emotions
Deletej.
There are many shades of grey but this ice-grey coat dress looks beautiful and suits with Maxima's blond hair. The style is unusual. Reminds me of the duvet thrown over the shoulders to keep warm. Perhaps considering high energy prices this style will be in vogue this autumn-winter? Anyway Maxima has height and posture to carry off this kind of "big" styles very well.
ReplyDeleteAmelia looks lovely in her forest-green dress. Hope she wasn't cold.
Princess Laurentien looks lovely in light pink. Hope to see better photos of her.

Brillant comment !!
DeleteBrillant comment !!
DeleteMáxima, as always over the top. Keep this dress for a state visit to Iceland is my advice. As it will be a very heavy year with high energy prices for everyone why not as a gesture wearing a dress that she already had. Amalia as always in a kind of "grandmother" dress. She is 18. Who is advising her. She is having this beautiful face.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Maxima's dress looks like a winter outfit but it isn't. On the picture where she steps out of the golden coach one can see through the fabric. I like the design but I don't know if it is a good idea for Maxima. Amalia's dress is beautiful on the model but I think it is too old for her. The emeralds are not suitable for a young woman of 18 years old. Laurentine's pink dress is the best of the three royal ladies. If only she could do something different with her hair and wearing some other hat, it would have been perfect. Laurentine's dry hair needs a good treatment and a better haircut.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered why they have to wear long evening dresses to go to the parliament in bright day light. The golden coach is also exaggerated but of course it is tradition in the Netherlands.
Queen Maxima to me is a caption in time of a society lady getting out of a model T entering the Waldorf Astoria
ReplyDeleteSpot on !!
DeleteSomewhere they found the dress up clothes again.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pity they lack taste,
Mabel
El vestido de Maxima no le favorece para nada parece un maniqui, Amalia se ve linda.
ReplyDeleteMy previously posted comment did not appear. Too bad, I spoke the truth about the bad choices of the queen and her daughter. annie
ReplyDelete@ J, I think we all know that indeed Máxima is human, and a very fun one if one can judge by the pictures we all enjoy. I can't understand why some people can't separate fashion with personality... really!!! My comments are about what she is wearing, not about who she is. Period. Full stop. Don't make this a personal battle.
ReplyDeleteAll look horrible
ReplyDeleteNever thought I would say this but I think princess Laurentine is the best dressed
