The Duchess of Sussex gave an interview for the September 2022 issue of The Cut. During the long interview done by writer Allison P. Davis for the New York Times website The Cut which focuses on women's issues, the Duchess talked about the new life of herself and her children in Los Angeles since leaving the UK, and also about her most recent endeavors including her newly-launched podcast named "Archetypes". The photos were taken by photographer Campbell Addy.
Tory Burch Colorblock Tulle Dress
Proenza Schouler Bi-Stretch Crepe Wrap Blazer Jacket
Proenza Schouler Crepe Wide Leg Pants
The long black neck top seems like what Princess Diana wore on the cover of her autobiography. That is a lovely tribute on the 20th anniversary of her passing.
ReplyDeleteHowever the interview was awful! - comparing your wedding to the release of Nelson Mandela. Falsely accusing British institutions and Royal family without proof, on and on.
The more she talks the more she reveals her character, it is now clear what went wrong in her own family.
am a disappointed black woman,
Jill
It is not a tribute, she is trying to be new Diana and failing in it because her true colors are showing more and more.
DeleteDP
I know how you feel Jill. She had an opportunity to make so many proud but now her legacy is in ruins.
DeleteLooking at the outfits (while covering her face) they are very beautiful especially the grey one.
Ms
If you read the interview you’ll learn that it was not she who made the original comparison but someone else. Plus she was not compared to Mandela per se but the occasion of a black / mixed race woman marrying in the BRF was compared to the occasion of Mandela being set free. The tabloids are once again twisting her words and taking sentences out of their context. It’s better to read the original interview, not the tabloid versions.
Delete-B.
It is the 25th anniversary of her passing.

ReplyDeleteWho cares???
ReplyDeleteDrama Queen
ReplyDeleteI've cheered for Meghan since she first came on the scene. She has the power now to do so much good. But I was so disappointed when she aired her family's dirty laundry on national TV. Every family has relatives who drive them nuts and they don't get along with. But you don't announce your family issues on TV! Especially with a family as private and careful as the BRF. That was family business, not the business of everyone watching TV. Harry and Meghan can't be surprised that the Royal family is angry with them and deeply hurt. It's not surprising that their family won't meet with them for fear of seeing their comments in the media. It's sad that now her children will grow up not knowing their cousins and relatives and having those deep friendships and wonderful memories. With either side of the family! I wonder if Meghan and Harry were thinking of the impact on their children and their extended family when they gave the Oprah interview. It's just sad all around.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tory Burch dress and Meghan's Proenza Schuler suit is tailored perfectly. She looks good here.
Are we going to balance this against the fact that the tabloids ran and continues to run since 2018 many stories about them on a daily basis? Stories that are unnecessary.
DeleteStop acting as if the Oprah interview is the benchmark in this saga. It came one year after they left. How many times did Harry have to ask them to stop?
Why they second hand outrage for a family that will only give you a smile a wave. Alice
Thank you very much Alice. Good points!
DeleteThank you Alice
DeleteAlice, they pay a PR firm to insert articles in the press. They WANT press. However, they only want good press. I can't blame them for wanting that, but if they want to be public figures, they have to take the good with the critical.
DeleteSo much for a private life...
ReplyDeleteShe should do what she wants in her private life as you say. What do you expect her to do, lock herself up in her home and do nothing and have no life at all!. I don't think so!
Delete@18:16 It's been five years, how much longer will it take to consult a dictionary for the meaning of the word privacy.
DeleteMerriam Webster.
@Merriam. Well said.
DeleteBeautifully styled photographs and the black and white dress reminds me of Grace Kelly in 'Rear Window'.
ReplyDeleteShe constantly whines and complains about the BRF and yet she gets upset if they don't call her The Duchess of Sussex in magazines, interviews, etc.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know she got upset if she wasn't called The Duchess of Sussex. I hadn't seen that anywhere. I had always seen publishing parties using her title to sell the story. I had always thought they were 'Harry and Meghan', and happy to be so. Without royalty in the States, it is a novelty to address someone using their royal title. Could you link some videos, etc. where this happens?
DeleteBeautiful clothes that she wears well.
ReplyDeleteI like the white suit a lot. Pic 1 and4 are the best. the others are a bit strange. Maybe too much airbrushed maybe? that must be it. josebabe
ReplyDeleteThis is so so wrong.

DeleteWhy are you giving space on this site to this woman who constantly whines and throws dirt on the British royal family? Daniela
DeleteElle a totalement raison.
Exactly
DeleteYes. And thank you.

Impressive photos. Top professional work by the photographer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a little bit of photoshopping with filters here and there.
My favourite ensemble is the ‘Proenza Schouler’ white jacket and pants.
Second is the ‘Tory Burch’ black and white, tulle dress.
The Duchess has good taste when it comes to fashion.
But I ask the question “are these photos really necessary?”
It’s just feeding fodder to the media in my opinion.
I think you asked the right question, Deadeggs. Was this photo shoot really necessary? It has nothing to do with the topics in the interview.
DeleteYou or others may attack me for saying this since I've often tried to remain neutral about Meghan. But now, I can't help but feeling it looks odd and like she indeed wants the attention.
@deadeggs. Thankfully, you do not get to decide. Most magazine articles about a subject are accompanied by pictures of themselves, their kids, pets, homes etc.
Delete@Roslyn try not to tell us what she thinks or wants. That is in her mind unless it is one of your skills.
Sim
Hi Sim, I wasn't trying to tell anyone what Meghan thinks or wants. I'm glad that's not up to me. I was only sharing how it felt to me, that's all.
DeleteHave a nice day! :-)
I have never once commented about this woman but now the word just popped out of my mouth: RIDICULOUS
ReplyDeleteShe has surpassed everything she’s been called and now is just a joke. Ridiculous!
Rita Marie
Agree with you
DeleteToo much posing... I like the writers last words, tells it all
ReplyDeleteShe reminds me of the Cruella character.
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteVery talented photographer took beautiful photos of an emotionally disturbed destructive woman.
ReplyDeletePowerful, succinct description.
DeleteThe right words!
DeleteThere is actually nothing to add to that! Frieda
DeletePerfect summary. Thank you.
DeletePerfectly put !
DeleteShe looks a little unapproachable here, facial-expressions-wise. Unfortunately I’ve been following her escapades a little too closely to be able to warm to anything she wears even though she may look good on the surface.-BD
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely a 'hardness' to her facial expression.
DeleteBeautiful and stylish photos. It seems that H & M have found their own path and will hopefully have a long and happy life together. The amount of hatred in many of the comments here makes one sad, though. If you can’t stand her for some reason, then please don’t click on her photos or read her interviews.
ReplyDeletePaula
DEAR Paula, what do you think about Meghan attacking her husband's family? I think it is deeply unkind and rude of her. It's insidious. I am not from Britain or any other English speaking country, but I feel very sorry for the Queen. What pain the 96-year-old queen must feel when Meghan attacks her family, which cannot defend itself.
DeleteThe paradox is that all those contracts, including media space Mrs. Markle only because of the connection to the royal family. What of my post is not true or is hateful?
Stephanie
I dont really like the come-hither look qnd stance, not very dignified and suitable for a mother of 2.

DeleteThanks to the blog administrator for her/his work.
DeleteNice to know that there is a pilot in the plane.
But there is urgent work to be done with nicknames and anonymous comments.
The first picture is my favorite. #4 is a nice, close-up. I love that you can see her freckles. The other photos feel too posed to me.

Fashion is fine; I do like the dress with the tulle skirt. This girl needs a project, in the early days I suggested to Harry's father they should go somewhere as Ambassadors; they didn't take my advice now look what the royals have brought themselves; an intelligent couple on the outer.(Tabby)
ReplyDeleteTo the Moderator: Many of these comments should be deleted. Why embolden these people to continue these unsubstantiated mean comments. It is undeniable that her experience in the RF was a struggle. Yet, the grace that is given to the RF in spite of their scandals is not understood. This site is just an extension comments section of the DMail.
ReplyDeleteIn better times, posters would look at the collections of these designers to make informed comments or comparisons. There is zero interest for these posters, just the same noise created by old men on the telly for them to repeat.
There is something to be said for quality versus quantity. What a disappointment!

Excellent comment. I had made a similar comment earlier but it was not posted because I hypothesized as to why the gossipy comments were allowed to post on a fashion blog. I will not make that mistake again. I agree with you in full.
DeleteI like all the outfits. Meghan looks good for this photo shoot. It's professional and magazine worthy, which is what they were intended for.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that she and Harry are blazing forward with their plans and I continue to wish them every success.
(There are many, many, many people who lived under British Imperialism and colonialism around the world who witnessed what went on behind the scenes and who sympathize with H&M, and countless others who were either born after that or elsewhere in the world, who have no idea what went on then and which in a way subtly continues now. Just saying.)

@Marie, to state that somebody has poor mental health just because you don’t like what they represent, is deplorable. You and some of the commenters here are proof of what’s wrong with all of the keyboard warriors, not to mention the tabloids. Shame on you!!
ReplyDeleteCB
I would like to see a full front length photo of the satin, halter neck gown. The pearl necklace accompanying this gown looks stunning. The white pantsuit looks beautiful. The color block tulle dress, I don't like but that is my personal taste only. The first dress, I am not sure about either, again a full front look, would be advantageous to see the style clearly
Dorothe
ReplyDeleteI think all the clothes Meghan is wearing here are sensational as well as the very artistic photos.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see how ugly people can be. This is a young woman trying to make her way in the world - in her own right. She seems to me a very nice person, that loves her husband and children and that stands up for the rights of woman. She looks great in these photographs.
ReplyDeleteYoung? She is 41...
DeleteReally? Yes, 41 is young. How old are you anon 19:06? You must be under 40 to have made that comment. Some day you will be in your 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. You will then realize that 41 is young. Is that all you could think of to insult her? That was weak.
DeleteAnonymous 5:06, 12' September I am going to be 61. I was once 41 and I was not young then 😂
DeleteShe ist 41 years old. That is not young anymore. Under 28 years you are young. She only does à very smart self marketing and wants to upstage the working members of the royal family under a so called woke fight for PoC. The timing of the publishing of the interview and the pictures was not very sensible as she even wanted to upstage her late mother in law Princess Diana on the 25th anniversary of her death. I think that many people are angry about this step and that's why they make negative comments. On the other hand we can ask why she goes public when she wanted privacy with her megxit. This blog should only show fashion of working royals.
Delete@Angelina The subject of the Sussex's privacy has been addressed more times than can be counted. Maybe it is best to go back through older posts to read up on it. I think we are all tired of the subject. With a family as large as the BRF, I think there will always be something on the calendar that corresponds to the family, either currently or historically. No other member of the family has been accused of upstaging others like Meghan. I feel certain Harry would have had something to say on the subject if he felt that was the case. He was arguably the most outwardly effected by Diana's death. I agree with you completely about this blog. I wish it would go back to being about fashion. If it was only about working royals, it wouldn't have nearly as many lovely ladies to look at. Personally, I am fine with all royals. We are free to ignore those we aren't interested in. Lastly, for those that think 41 is old, how sad. For most women, that is not even midway thru life these days. I suppose if you chose to plan your funerals, so be it, but there are other women that age who are living their best life. Women hit their sexual peak in their forties. What a horrible attitude to think all your best days are are behind you at 40.
DeleteToday August 31st marks the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana tragic death and this should be the headlines of the press instead we are still talking about Duchess Meghan's interview or her latest podcast, I know she might not have any control of the release of both but this should be a time to commemorate the legacy of Diana and maybe to start the process of healing between both families. At this point, I don't think it will be any reconciliation and it's very sad. Rossie
ReplyDelete@Tabby, are you on first name basis with Prince Charles? Did I misinterpreted your comment stating that you give him advice?
ReplyDeleteAlso when referring to a woman of Meghan’s age the term “girl” is rude, so either you are trying to minimize her, or you unaware.
Such delusional comments here…

Hope
Très bon commentaires !!! Meghan e
DeleteCongratulations to Meghan on a good job well done.
ReplyDeleteMeghan Markle never played in a real good movie in her life .She played Hallmark movies a couple of times which was boring and the Suits which was in fact a soap opera and actors were walking from one room to other all the time and talking non stop to make more drama for every little thing to show it exciting but never happened and the series got more boring at the end . Now she is trying to get close to Hollywood and gets a real role in a real movie using Prince Harry's popularity . It makes it hard to do since in Hollywood there are thousands brilliant actors and actresses who are multitask like being actor singer director ballerina , athletes, model ,dancers which makes them unique . But good luck to Meghan.
ReplyDeleteNone of this relates to the article, or fashion and reflects the ravings of a certain kind of mind that may prove dangerous to this woman. People like this feel they have been deprived of their prince.
DeleteShe was never a "famous actress". That is something the media played up. It always made me laugh. She was just getting her career started. Anything to sell a story. It never has to be true, just sensational. I haven't heard about any current movie roles. As far as I know, it is gossip unless it was mentioned in the latest article, which I haven't read.
DeleteBut I don't see what Hollywood could give the Duchess of Sussex.
DeleteHollywood certainly helped Grace Kelly to land a prince.
But Duchess Meghan landed and married her prince without going via Hollywood.:-))
Once again, the point to this woman? she wanted a private life, this modeling and being rude to the royal family is unfathomable. Why is she on this blog, she and her husband Henry/Harry, stepped away from public life, away from the royal family. So why so much of her on this blog. Certainly more attention could be put on say, Princess Anne, who does more engagements for the royal family. Jane
ReplyDelete@Jane Undeterred by limited schooling, we return again and again with talking points made by others that have been published thousands of times before. No relevance to the topic, the pictures or the event. With a level of learning at capacity, no new information can be absorbed, it is repeat, repeat, repeat.
DeleteIt's not a difficult task to create your own blog, then you can tell us all about Anne's ribbon cutting and her ponies, but will we read it?. In the meantime try not to control the blogs of other people who do the work to attract their own readership.
MW
Jane, I promise you that I will be the first one to read anything about Anne and I will drool over the pictures of she a) updates her hair and b) buys some clothes that are pleasant to look at. We have been looking at the same duds for years. I know she is a very hard working royal, but this is a fashion blog and that is the reason I come here. Her hair could be a wig and I wouldn't know the difference. It hasn't changed in over 50 years. All I can gather from her clothes is that she has excellent moth control in her closets for them to last as many decades as they have and she is very successful with her weight. I would have a bit more respect for her if she lost the gloves when she greets people. It gives one the impression she still feels she is better than and those days are long past. If I want to read about her duties, I will go elsewhere.
Delete@10:24 l am dead. :)
Delete@Jane, take a chamomile please!!
ReplyDeleteOr better yet, scroll… who is forcing you to read about this couple? Also who are you to determine what others interests should be? You know when I am not curious about some people or issues I just don’t read it.. 1,2,3 very easy peasy.
CB
She may speak an inconvenient truth for BRF but she is still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery true.
DeleteWell…. Every single time the duchess is portrayed the thread goes to the dogs. What happened to the interesting comments once we used to read, color, fabric silhouettes etc.,? Now is mostly judgment, gossip, platitudes and even delusions ( somebody above pretends to make us believe that she is an unofficial adviser to Prince Charles). You are entitled to dislike this woman, or what she represent, solely based on the tabloids or whatever you imagine that happened behind closed doors, after all we only have a couple of interviews on which she stated that she had a rough time with the RF, of course we will never know because the firm doesn’t comment. What I find insane is that some of you have this unhealthy habit of displaying your anger and displeasure on this public forum, come on!! this is not a therapeutic thread. If the actions of a total unknown person bother you so much, I think you need to take stock. I for one I am of the opinion that Meghan wasn’t prepared to deal with what I perceive as a very difficult family, nor was she ready to be humiliated day in and day out, perhaps she could have stayed enjoying a life of privilege in exchange of a few public appearances, but at the end they couldn’t compromise.
ReplyDeleteCherry
I’m amazed that nobody seems to have talked about the challenges for two people from entirely different backgrounds and cultures facing them in finding their way to spend (married or not) their lives together.
ReplyDeleteDukes or Duchesses are not exempt from this challenge.
It’s the same challenge for Mr and Mrs Jones or Mr and Mrs Brown.
Marrying into a family is not always an easy task even if both families are of the same background and culture and live in the same street.
The task can be even harder when you have to accept the rules and traditions of a noble/royal, European family steeped in centuries of history and traditions.
And for somebody from the old world culture (royal or otherwise) adjusting to the relaxed American way of life in California.
Please, give the Sussexes a break.
They may trip and fall on the way just as Mr and Mrs Brown and Mr and Mrs Jones are at risk of doing. The daily mud throwing from the gutter press and the haters doesn’t help at all.
But, unfortunately, the gutter press still have them as their top money earner. The haters aren’t going to be happy until they see them go through a public flogging in Trafalgar Square.
Sorry but repeating what I said above. “give them a break”....... please.
Why not turn attention to the Norwegian royal family and the marriage of their daughter to an American hoodoo man/ Gourou with spiritual gifts. The King and Queen, from the kindness of their hearts, have given approval to the marriage.
However, the King recently and publicly expressed his concern to the union.
Info from the site, French/Belgium “Histoiresroyales”. A site in the French Language.
@deadeggs You make so many valid points. Of course new marriages are a challenge in the best of circumstances. I imagine marrying into the BRF is an experience that one could never be prepared for. If history is any indicator, the in-laws do struggle.
DeleteI, too, have been uncomfortable by Princess Märtha Louise's fiancé. I think there is a genuine story there, yet the maniacal obsession with all things Sussex blinds them to what is right in front of their eyes. Thanks for the tip on the article. It will be interesting watching this unfold.
@ Anon / 3/9/22 20:07
DeleteAs you say about the press “ the maniacal obsession with all things Sussex blinds them to what is right in front of their eyes”
Their obsession with the Sussexes has kept the spotlight off Prince Andrew and the forthcoming wedding of Princess Märtha Louise's with her American hoodoo/gourou.
I hope Prince Andrew invites them for a thank you “Tea” and that Princess Märtha Louise sends them at least a thank you note or an invite to the wedding :-))
Never has there been someone have so much, and yet still find negative space to moan and attack those that cannot defend themselves!! Meghan makes Wallis look saintly!
