On August 27, 2022, the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons hosted the annual Blue Dream Summer Gala in Southampton, New York. Crown Prince Pavlos and Princess Marie-Chantal attended the charity gala. The charity event was held for the benefit of the Seleni Institute and The Retreat. All revenues gained from the gala will go to Seleni and Retreat.
The Seleni Institute is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the emotional health of women, men and their families during the family-building years. The objective of The Retreat is to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence.
ZIMMERMANN Lyre Trim Tiered Dress
Oh la la, trop de volants tuent le volant sur cette robe ; à mon avis, il me semble qu'en conservant les lignes de celle-ci mais avec moins de volants plus larges, cela serait plus élégant !
ReplyDeleteThey are not princes, or am i wrong?
ReplyDeleteIn the 19th century when Greece became independent it needed a king. After a prince from Bavaria (whom they threw out) Greece choosed a Danish prince as their king. He was a clever man and made an agreement with his father (the king of Denmark) that he and his descendants can use the title "Prince of Greece and Denmark". That allows the members of the former royal house of Greece use the titles "prince" and "princess" - as Denmark still is a monarchy though Greece is not. (There possibly are some details missing, but this is the main story.)

Dear Anonymous 11:08, this is an ongoing discussion. I agree with you - since Greece is not a monarchy anymore (the greek people decided to abolish monarchy in the year 1974) there is no "Prince", let alone "crown prince".

They are referred to as such as a courtesy but no, they have no legal role in Greece.
DeleteMarie-Chantal is very definately not a prince. She is the crown princess. of Greece. Her husband is Crown Prince. I am presuming the titles remain even of Greece no longer has an installed King.
DeletePavlos is a Prince of Denmark due to that title being established by his Mother’s Father, the King of Denmark. His Mother was born Princess Anne Marie of Denmark. Greece did abolish its monarchy but I believe Pavlos was born when his Father was still King Constantine of Greece, hence he was born a Prince, although that is no longer recognized officially in Greece.
Delete@nalerina: im aware that marie chantal is a princess and not a prince! I was just wondering why they are called with this title if they will never reign over Greece or any other nation.
DeleteTitle stays with you for as long as you live.
DeleteAva
Titre de courtoisie
ReplyDeleteWhen the ex-king dies, what will this man be called? King? If so -of what?
ReplyDeleteHereditary titles aside, which isn’t necessarily the point of this blog, I think Marie-Chantal is quite overdressed for the occasion (and the weather in the Hamptons). Pretty dress, no doubt, and she wears it well, just the wrong time and place to display it.
ReplyDeleteCH
Isn't Marie-Chantal always "over"?
DeleteVery true, Coralie. She is ‘over’ almost always. Not to mention her daughter 😉
DeleteCH
Oh yes - this skinny blonde who is not able to close her mouth. On every photo she has her mouth open.
DeleteCoralie 21:35 Bingo! Same as her daughter, always open mouth
DeleteMarie-Chantal’s dress is pretty and frothy for a summertime event. However, it rather overwhelms her small frame. Pavlos looks great.
ReplyDeleteNice dress and color, but maybe for someone younger? This is of course OM opinion css
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Greece does not have a monarchy however it is customary within royal circles to retain royal titles in spite of abolished thrones. It must be emphasized that Prince Pavlos has extensive royal connections and the most interesting pedigree. He is the grandson of a King of Denmark and a great grandson of a King of Sweden. He descends thrice through Queen Victoria. He is also directly related to Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh who was a Godfather to Prince Phillipos, Pavlos's brother. He is also directly related to the Royal House of Hanover.
ReplyDeletePavlos's father Constantine was born a Prince and became the King of Greece, his mother Anne Marie was born a Princess of Denmark and became Queen of Greece. His father's sister is Sophia Queen of Spain, his mother's sister is Margarethe Queen of Denmark. His maternal first cousin is Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark while his paternal first cousin is Felipe, King of Spain. Pavlos's father is Godfather to Prince Christian and Prince William. Prince Charles is Godfather to Pavlos's daughter Princess Maria-Olympia. Prince William is Godfather to Pavlos's son Prince Constantine . Furthermore, Diana Princess of Wales was a Godmother to Princess Theodora, Pavlos's sister.
Pavlos is Crown Prince of Greece, Duke of Sparta and Prince of Denmark. He will also be King of Greece/The Hellenes (as a formality) once his father passes on. This makes Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess of Greece, Duchess of Sparta, Princess of Denmark and future Queen of Greece/The Hellenes.
So yes, Pavlos and Marie-Chantal are very royal indeed. They make such a lovely couple and have well adjusted children. God bless them all.
Someone should take you in 2022!

DeleteWhy for knowing everything about the former royal family of Greece ? I consider it as a lesson in history, a bit inevitable on this blog.
It is true every former King or Queen are called by their title : i.e. Empress Farah Diba, Queen Fabiola of Belgium (when she was still alive), King Albert II of Belgium, Queen Paola of Belgium, all the Romanov's who are living all over Europe (U.K. included) are still called by their title, etc..., all the Habsburg archdukes and archduchesses that reigned over Austria and who had complementary titles like princess of Bohemia, king of Hungary, etc... They do not always use their former titles in every day life but at weddings, baptizing ceremonies, these titles are named.
Once a royal, always a royal.
ReplyDeleteDefinetely not
DeleteAgree with you Anon 23:58
DeleteAva
And she is a multi millionaire.
ReplyDeleteYes , because the Pavlos family is rich. Wy she was not millionaire before marriage? Come on she is trying to be someone, but she vill never be.
DeleteAnon 19:37. You seem to know nothing about her childhood family. Her father (Mr Miller) was a multimillionaire and she brought good money to her marriage with Pavlos. The Greek royals are not rich and are enjoying the hospitality of the other royals and rich friends. So, she brought the money and Pavlos made her royal, a perfect match.
DeleteIf all she is able to do is spending her millions in frills, poor "prince" Pavlos...)))
DeleteShe looks pretty, but the frills are overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteNot much fashion talk for the moment.
ReplyDeleteRegarding titles etc. we have been down this road many times before on this blog.
Fashion : I thing Princess Marie-Chantal's dress is too busy.
Too many frills, lace and baubles.
It would make, IMO, a nice short, informal wedding dress.....no?
On the Zimmermann site they present it at a price of €1.600.00
Time to end privileges for these people who dont represent anything. She is rich and has money? Fine.
ReplyDeleteBut please dont call them royals, there isnt any kingdom waiting for them and their only responsibility is spending money, not ruling a nation.
@Anon 30/8/22 11:41
DeleteThanks for the information about their financial situation and their behaviour with money.
But sorry, I wont be taking your advice about calling them royals.
I don't like unknown people without a nickname on a blog telling me what I MUST do or not do.
Have a nice day.
I'm sure that Marie Chantal earns pretty good with her children's clothes brand
Deletehttps://mariechantal.com/
If Princess Marie Chantal earns pretty good money from her work, well, then, good on her.
Delete@deadeggs : id like you to explain us which difference there is between anonymous and deadeggs, or deadeggs and mary, or mary and jane, here on this blog.
DeleteBut i understand this is the most comfortable excuse when one isnt able to bring proper contributions to a discussion.
Have a nice day you too.
deadeggs 20:34 Why do you call her princess? She is not and vill never be.
Delete@Anon 30.8.22 at 7.55 - who wrote: "someone should take you in 2022". What precisely do you mean ... can you please clarify?
ReplyDelete@7.55, how so? Do tell.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that many posting comments here are not aware that Marie Chantal Miller is a millionaire in her own right. She is the daughter of billionaire Robert Warren Miller, founder of International DFS (Duty Free stores) the Galleria stores and large shareholder of LVMH. SHE is the one with the money! When they were married, the gossip columns sarcastically “reported” that Marie Chantal, who had everything she desired, said to her father, “Daddy, I want a Prince” … and he got it for her. They appear to have a beautiful marriage and family. May God continue blessing them.
ReplyDeleteRita Maria
Thanks for your post @ Rita Maria. Nice story.
DeleteMy daddy didn’t provide me with a prince but with an obsessed amatuer fishingman.
So instead of a life of ‘bling-bling’ Monte Carlo style, I’ve had a life of raising his kids, cooking his meals and cleaning the fish he occasionally catches.
Oh, some are lucky, like Princess Marie Chantal and some aren’t.
Mr. Robert Warren Miller is the diligent multi billionaire father of The Miller Sisters - Pia, Marie Chantal and Alexandra. All his three daughters married extraordinarily.
ReplyDeleteMarie Chantal is the daughter of a multi billionaire and millionaire for herself.
ReplyDeleteThat is called meritocracy.
As well is the most elegant lady and Royal you can ever met.
Greece would be lucky to have such ambasadors but they seem to prefer to give their money to corrupt politicians instead.
