The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Palace released a new portrait of the Duke and Duchess. The photograph was taken earlier this week, in the garden of the Duke and Duchess's home at Kensington Palace. The Duchess wears a brooch designed by the Duke of the initials R and B entwined. Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester is a paternal first cousin of Queen Elizabeth.
Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester on their 50th anniversary! As always, the Duchess looks very chic. This is a very nice picture of them. (Debra)
ReplyDelete50 years is a long time. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteA bit too long but otherwise a beautiful dress for this duchess we see more often lately. She has a lovely face without her glasses.
ReplyDeleteBeauitful photo of two often unsung but hardworking supporters of HM, the UK, and the Commonwealth. Happy Golden Anniversary!!!

Un couple que j'ai toujours trouvé charmant même si je ne le vois pas très souvent ; très jolie robe-chemisier de couleur ocre chez la Duchesse - Félicitations à tous les deux pour ce 50ème anniversaire !
ReplyDeleteThey are such a lovely unassuming couple, hardworking, not attention seeking, very humble. 50 years, congratulations to them. Beautiful photo the Duchess looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis is how I imagine how members of the royal family should act: with dignity, without drama, without constantly drawing attention to themselves, without lecturing others, always in support of the queen (king). Sadly, today's younger members of the royal family are unable to do so. It's my "outside" view, because I don't live in Britain or in an English-speaking country, but the fact is that members of the royal family represent Britain, sometimes well, sometimes badly. Duke and Duchess of Gloucester very well. Congratulations on a beautiful anniversary!

@Stephanie : I hear what you say (or I see what you write) but the royal family is made up of human beings with all their lumps and bumps. To have perfection and harmony with such a large mix of people and personalities is a great challenge. When I see/hear/read about the ins and outs of the British royal family, it helps me to understand that my family, with all its non royal lumps and bumps, is "normal".
Deletep.s. I also wish the Duke and Duchess a happy anniversary.
