On June 23, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended Cambridgeshire County Day at the July Course in Cambridgeshire. Cambridgeshire County Day was held for the first time this year in order to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and raise money for Cambridge Children’s Hospital and the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
The Duke and Duchess viewed the their new painted portrait at the University of Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum. The artwork, which is the first official joint portrait of the Duke and Duchess, was painted by award-winning British portrait artist Jamie Corethwas. During their visit to Cambridgeshire, the Duke and Duchess paid visits to works of key charitable organizations in the area.
L.K. Bennett Madison Chiffon Print Dress
Cette robe en mousseline imprimée flatte beaucoup la silhouette de Kate même si le manteau semble trop long et dans une couleur trop fade !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, if only the coat was waist length!
ReplyDeleteI like their official portrait, it looks very Duke & Duchess
msy
Then the coat will be a jacket :-)
DeleteLove the dress, the colouring, the fabric and the style. So pretty, so light and so summery. Kate looks great in it.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the possible need for the coat, and it too looks very nice, but the dress itself has enough to appreciate being worn on its own.

Happy to see that she took off the coat later in the day and gave the dress it's full glory..
DeleteI love the portrait as well.

She looks gorgeous, the whole outfit is stunning especially the coat.
ReplyDeleteTheir portrait, I like it very much.
A pretty look for the DoC. The colors in this dress are so light and airy, but it's the coat for me that makes this look. Love the color and how it polishes it all up.

ReplyDeleteThe Duchess looks beautiful as always. Love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteHer outfit is elegant, as always, but her smile is her best accessorie.
ReplyDeleteI think coat and dress are too long as well as her hair. It makes a very long and tall impression because she is very slim
ReplyDeleteYou are right about that.

Hmh... can't log into my usual profile, dunno why. The Duchess of Cambridge, as she appears on the newly commissioned portrait, is wearing the first time ever the Cambridge Pearl Pendant Brooch on loan from HM Queen Elizabeth II. This brooch famously belonged to another Duchess of Cambridge, Augusta of Hesse, who was Queen Mary's grandmother. So some substantial pieces of jewellery come from her, this brooch as well as the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, and the famous Cambridge Emeralds (some of them can be worn in a setting of the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara, which has a pearl setting, a setting without jewels in the loops, and the emerald setting). Also, but this is a minor point - the City of Cambridge has some green colour in their Coat of Arms, though it's not a bright emerald green, some sort of sage green only. Great portrait overall. Only the Duke having his hand in his trouser-pocket is not overly to my liking.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information, DSC!
DeleteBeautiful portrait of the Duke and Duchess--and I love that the Duchess is wearing the Cambridge Pearl Pendant brooch! The in-person Duchess looks marvelous in her pale blue coat and pretty LK Bennett dress.

Catherine looks lovely in this summery dress and coat.
ReplyDeleteIn the portrait she looks good too, but William is painted in an awful pose: one hand in pocket and other arm around his wife, in a kind of nonchalant way moviestars do.
IMO it simply isnot done, and I am sure William never stands like this.
Mabel
The pose is not a surprise to the Cambridges. The portrait was painted that way for a reason, according to the artist, Jamie Coreth. Coreth said he wanted to portray the royal couple as "both relaxed and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified". At least William doesn't walk about with his hand in his pocket all the time, stretching out his suit jackets like his father does. I have no idea what you mean about movie stars. What an odd comment. If you feel a hand in a pocket should simply not be done, I think the one to take this up with would be the future king. I dare say he knows a great deal more about the subject than you do.
DeleteI AGREE on everything ! however if only the coat could be a bit shorter.
Delete@Mabel, like moviestars do? I guess 80% of men must be in the movie business, because that is what they do!!

Once I commented a royal that she always putted her hands in her pockets (in winter period). I received a lot of nasty reactions on my address if it was me that was the one with a wrong attitude.
DeleteI find that on Prince William's portrait the expression on his face is exactly how he looks sometimes. Catherine's face looks more realistic (better) than on the portraits (photos) that have been made of her recently (last year ?).
Oh I love that outfit! The dress is great and together with this coat in perfect length it just looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteThe dress in the artwork looks much nicer than the original :-)
Wonderful portrait of a wonderful couple!
ReplyDeleteAlways in style.
ReplyDeleteOne of my absolute favorite looks on her, that coat is sublime. I preferred her hair straight and sleek, as she wore it recently to the Windrush Statue unveiling. I thought that style might have another outing but she's back to the big hair and wavy ends.

The pale blue coat is gorgeous, I love the length and color. The portrait is beautiful, so life like. I wasn't a fan of the green dress she is wearing but in this portrait, it looks fabulous. The pearl brooch, pearl earrings and bracelet were splendid additions. I love the portrayal of Prince William. Beautiful portrait of the Royal couple.
ReplyDeleteLove this dress and light coat. A great summery outfit. AnnieM
ReplyDeleteI love what Kate is wearing. The dress is pretty & love the colour of her coat a great combination. Would love to know brand of coat.Mary
ReplyDeleteA very rare miss for me from the duches of Cambridge. I wish she didn't wear the coat because that dress is just lovely.
