Queen Elizabeth's birthday was officially celebrated by the ceremony called Trooping the Colour which is known as The Queen's Birthday Parade. This year, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, The Queen's Birthday Parade took place on Thursday 2 June. The annual event has been held for more than 260 years. The ceremony kicked off a 4-day Platinum Jubilee weekend that will celebrate the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, James, Viscount Severn, The Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Queen Elizabeth has limited this year's balcony appearance to royals carrying out official public duties. For that reason, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke of York were not in attendance.
I just wish the Duchess of Gloucester had appeared in a more daring, more sophisticated hat. Everybody else as polished and elegant as suspected. Great day for the British Monarchy.
ReplyDeletewell she seems insignificant she didn't even appear in these pictures.
Deletei loved the Queen's interaction with prince Louis.
The white and blue of the Queen, Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge is beautiful, countess of Sussex didn't get the memo
There is usually a larger crowd on trooping of the colour with the entire extended family, but in order not embarrass the Sussexs and their Netflix show they only included working members of the family.
Jill
She does appear in these pictures and I think she looks absolutely fine.
DeleteJill, the 10th photo is of the 'insignificant' woman who IS a working royal, doing a lot behind the scenes on outings for the Queen. Her name is the Duchess of Gloucester, her husband is seated beside her in the carriage. The main working royals were invited to be on the balcony this year, in order to start moving towards a more streamlined royal family. The sussexs if you don't remember, stepped away from their duties as working royals as they wanted a more private life (in their words).
DeleteThey are such elegant and stylish ladys. Always beautifully groomed. Their jewellery is so tastefully added to their outfits. And that´s it.
ReplyDeleteSome royalists have this weird belief that the BRF actually IS their family, so they can comment abt every choice they make, whether public or private. Their bizarre obsession is that they “own” the family & are allowed to comment on family matters that should only concern the family.
P.L.A.
Watching Trooping the Colour telecast now have never seen this before &, thought the royal ladies look lovely. Kate is elegant love her hair &, hat the whole outfit just gorgeous. Charlotte is a cutie as well as George & Louis. Just love how.Charlitte is dressed. Overall regal.Mary
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, even more beautiful looks from the Royal Ladies. Kate was very elegant and the kids are adorable, especially little Charlotte. I loved the color in Sophie's dress/coat.
ReplyDeleteLove every single person
ReplyDeleteHer Majesty looked beautiful;I watched Trooping The colour, and the fly past and all of the ceremony.God Bless the Queen ;70 years on the throne amazing.(Tara) from Australia
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise Lady Louise: very elegant.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Lady Louise has had a "glow up" for sure.
DeleteInteresting note, Catherine is in white, Charlotte and George in blue, Louis in white and blue, William in red, all the colors of the British flag.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted. Mary
DeleteWonderful in every way! Love HM's pretty blue ensemble with the Guards Brooch (the perfect nod to the occasion as always). Both Duchesses wore repeats and its marvelous how they complemented each other and HM in their blue and white choices. Catherine's choice of jewels is perfect--and those earrings are a great addition (hope to see her wear them more as they are so beautiful). The Countess of Wessex looks wonderful! Love her pretty pink and white outfit and that pearl is stunning. Lady Louise is beautiful and quite elegant--the colors of her jacket and floral frock are very flattering to her. The Duchess of Gloucester is in a repeat too--but I do love that navy and white polka dot dress. The Cambridge children all looked perfect in their shades of blue. Finally--the hats all of the ladies are wearing are terrific!!! Hope we get to see some pics of Princess Alexandra later--she looked beautiful and elegant as always!

The usual ingredients. Wasn't there any money to buy Lady Louise a new hat. Why must she put on such a monstrosity ? Her head drowned in it.
ReplyDeleteKate wore a white version of her blue and red coat dresses. From a distance her hat looks like a flying saucer. Sophie was the best dressed, but I would have liked her dress/coat plain pink instead of checked. (Vichy checks in French). Charlotte had a lovely dress too. Lucky they didn't let her wear a smocked dress. Her hair was beautifully done. Except for Louis the boys looked like little adults. It looks like Camilla wore one of her old outfits. I remember this striped coat/dress, it wasn't too bad when I saw it for the 1st time and it still looks good for what we can see of it.
Well, next time I highly recommend the royal family asking you first, what they should wear so they stand a chance to make you happy. Scarlett Witch
DeleteI think it was more a question of down-toning and NOT buying new stuff (or getting it tailored) for this event, as Greatbritain is facing an enormous increase of inflation right at the moment. So nearly everyone (except Her Majesty, who, of course, deserved to wear something entirely new) was donning re-wears. I am sure that Lady Louise also is perfectly capable of choosing her own outfit, although from her mother's wardrobe, so it seems. "Quite unassuming" might have been the order of the day in the BRF.
Delete@Scarlett Witch. I am quite happy don't you worry. I'm just giving you my opinion about the way the members of the RF are dressed. This is a fashion blog after all and everybody is free to say which outfits they like or not. It has nothing to do with the person who wears it. When I like something I say it, when I don't I say it too.
Delete@DSC . It is not a question of inflation alone. Now that the whole western world is facing "an enormous increase of inflation right at the moment" but rather a question of good taste. "Except Her Majesty", who was dressed very beautiful, some did buy "new stuff". That is why I said that for me Countess Sophie was the best dressed. If everybody likes the same it would be bad for the economy (now more than ever).
DeleteI forgot to mention the Queen herself. Very beautiful coat and dress and the hat suits her very well. This shade of blue is a very good choice. Congratulations to the designer Mrs. Kelly.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to her Majesty the Queen, who is looking so elegant in light blue. When she started as a Queen she promised to serve her country and its inhabitants in every way. And so she did for 70 years, which is unbelievable. All the ladies look at their best and very festive.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have seen so far:
ReplyDeleteKate looks smashing-very elegant
I adore the way she dresses her children...like children and not mini adults
or Hollywood celebrity kids. Louis in particular is one of the most beautiful children ever.
The Wessex youngsters...Lady Louise and Viscount Severn, are stunning. Both of them!
The British like to dress and my, they really know how to do it!
ReplyDeleteNowhere in the world such elegance and class without being over- the- top.
HM the queeni in a beautiful coat with matching hat, in a soft colour that is really good for her complexion.
Kate: stunningly beautiful; on these occasions she really shines.
The Duchess of Cornwall: modest as ever: well done.
Duchess Sophie and her daughter: both lovely.
And where in the world do you see men in these colourfull military uniforms?
Is it not done in 2022? I think we have to cherish traditions.
Mabel
My opinion is as well that Lady's hat is not a success. A pity for this lovely young lady.
ReplyDeleteLady Louis looked elegant, her posture is wonderful, and the hat was quite nice. It is one of her Mum's.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful day for such an important event. Great look for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular occasion! I thought everyone looked splendid, and very true to their personal styles. It’s great to see L.Louise maturing into a beautiful young woman. Her posture is impeccable, and her hat was quite charming. My favourite outfit, aside from QElizabeth, was D. Catherine’s - the dress, the hat, the fabulous hairstyle, and her choice of P. Diana’s sapphire and diamond earrings - perfection! (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI like what everyone is wearing except the horrible hat of lady Louise. She looks older than her mother with her outfits and that is usual the case at official engagement. She is a beautiful girl with beautiful hair why make her look like an old lady.
ReplyDeleteIris, I totally agree with you. Louise could have done so much better - and I hope she will in the future. *Regina
DeleteI have a Wedgwood plate that looks very similar to the colors in the Queen’s ensemble - a very classic pattern. Perhaps a nod to this British icon? Hero
ReplyDeleteHer Majesty looks splendid, beautiful, she looked well and happy, lovely to see. Great the rewear of D. of Cornwell and D. Catherine, both looking fabulous. I particularly love the double Sapphire and diamond earrings the Duchess wore, I love these earrings. Her subtle Sapphire necklace was the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess of Gloucester also in a rewear, this is a particularly lovely outfit, previously worn, its a divine ensemble.
The Countess of Wessex looks beautiful, a fabulous outfit, love the color. Her pearl pendant and earrings, lovely choice. Lady Louise looked delightful, what wonderful posture she has, a beautiful young, elegant lady.
Kate's ensemble is sublimely elegant. Uncomplicated elegance.
ReplyDeleteI find the addition of Diana's sapphire and diamond earrings which were very much Diana's trademark an interesting and stylish addition to Kate's ensemble.
Lady Louise looks very pretty in her ensemble, her choice of hat is very flattering. Sophie is stylishly pretty as always. I particularly like how the Suss as does her mother, Sophie.
I particularly like how the Wessex & Cambridge families outfits compliment the other members of their particular family. Something I wish the Dutch Royal Family would consider adopting on special occasions.
Last but not least, Her Majesty... classically elegant, as always.
Long may she reign.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice occasion for everyone to get together. 70 years is a very long time, The Queen always is a great Head of State. She is a very classy Lady. For her it always was and is DUTY FIRST, SELF SECOND. Boy this brings back so many memories. Everyone looked good. The Queen is 96 and looks great, if I get that old and look like her, I am super happy.
ReplyDeleteGod save the queen!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see her! She looks fantastic! A very lovely outfit, she is wearing <3 <3 <3
So sad, that the balcony appereance was limited that year. It would have been nicer only to skip Andrew and the Sussexes. But there we see the wide heart of that mother, grandmother and grand-grandmother.
Kate looks fantastic without stealing the show from the Queen. I like her hat, I love her makeup and hairstyle!
The kids are sooooo lovely! very cute!
Little Louis and the noise are funny in a good way and how adorable is it, when he talks to gan-gan? <3
Sadly we didn't see beautiful Mia and the other kids not at the balcony this year :-(
Anne looks fantastic in her uniform!
Camilla looks very nice, I especially like the hat.
Sophie looks nice, I'm okay with the pattern of the dress, but it's not a wow this time, but I love hairstyle and hat!
Lady Louise is very lovely! I like the dress and jacket for a young lady like her!
I'm ok with the hat, it is special but has a wow-effect, just the colour is not perfect to that outfit.
Her hair is very nice in that style! <3 and I like her makeup!
The Queens cousins/their wives are very nice! :-)
What a joy to see the the Queen and Prince Luis pulling faces and stealing the show at the balcony!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen is radiant, wonderfully attired for the occasion.
This Lady Is incredibile, all my respect and admiration go once again to her persona and lifelong service.
I loved everything, from the carriage procession to the fly past, every single moment was wow.
Again, all of the royal ladies look fine and dressed according to their own individual style.
The children are marvellous and delightful, just a joy to look at.
Everything looks so festive and glorious.
