Prince Albert and Princess Charlene arrived in Oslo to attend the opening of the exhibition "Sailing the Sea of Science" at the Fram Museum. King Harald and Queen Sonja hosted a lunch for Prince Albert, Princess Charlene and their twins Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella at Bygdø Royal Farm in Oslo. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Märtha Louise were also present at the lunch.
On Wednesday evening, Crown Prince Haakon, Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella attended the opening of the exhibition "Sailing the Sea of Science" at the Fram Museum.
This post makes me very happy! For me it is the first time that I'm recalling them making an official visit to a foreign country as a family. I think it is excellent that they are expanding their circle beyond Monaco. I'm glad to see them together, glad to see Charlene, glad to see them all looking well and happy, and am hoping that we will see more photos of them with the Norwegian Royal Family. They are in the company of wonderful hosts too!
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
I agree! They finally share a kiss.
DeleteAbsolutely agreed! Charlene looks beautiful here, and I'm happy to see the kids (they are always cute). Hoping some great pics to come

@ Anon 9:13
Delete...and they are visiting a wonderful country, too!!
This is one of the best trip Charlene and Albert could offer their kids, a really unforgettable experience and this time of the year is ideal for overall good weather conditions.
What joy to see Charlene and Albert so close!!
They all look wonderful, including P. Haakon.

How nice that Prince Albert and Charlene and the twins are visiting the New Zealand of Europe. Two wonderful families, hopefully Charlene's recovery will continue. Relaxed neat clothes - very comfortable. Pal

ReplyDeleteWhy not black? What's wrong with black? I know it's basically hated on this blog; but some of love black & wear it all year long. Some people look better in black & other dark colors. If Charlene & Gabriella want to wear black, let them wear black. Everybody else in the photos seems to be in dark colors. It's Norway, it's probably cooler; they're not in sun-drenched Monaco or Dubai. Long live Black! *Regina
DeleteWhy not?
DeleteSeriously winnie? Why the dark blue jackets? Albert, Haakon Jacques
DeleteNo reference to the comment since it was removed, but I would have preferred f.i. a combination of black & white, ie white trousers.
DeleteI really hate seeing small children dressed in black. I often get the feeling that HSH allows her children to select their own clothing, which is unfortunate. As adorable as they are, the Princely twins often look like little hipsters or Hollywood kids. (especially Gabriella)
ReplyDeleteAnd kids shouldn't have the freedom to choose their own clothing, because they are what? Kids?
DeleteIt's not like the twins are dressed up as Spiderman and Cinderella in an official event, though I would've loved to see that lol
Mimi
Regarding the kids, Jacques is dressed in a very classic way, so far so good. I am puzzled by black for Gabriella, did she want to be dressed like her mother ?
DeleteAgreed. Unless it’s a funeral, no child should ever be dressed in black. It actually saps energy as demonstrated by multiple approaches. Particularly unfortunate choice.
DeleteBut Princess Gabriella is wearing a red coat. Her colour of her coat fits in well with the red carpet :-))
DeleteI don't think her dress is pure black. It seems to have some type of design on it (difficult to see from the photo).
The lady in picture 7 is also in a black dress and tights
ReplyDeleteHave just found an article I read recently about black as a fashion colour.
DeleteThe question was put ..."Why is black so popular in fashion?"
And the reply was ......;
"When selecting clothing items to wear, many individuals gravitate toward black. Often, black is perceived as a sleek and flattering color that not only minimizes the effort involved in selecting outfits, but, also minimizes the perception of the mass of the body".
Nice to see them altogether and again Charlene looks a bit more relaxed. The twins look rather sad again. I would love to see them looking really happy for a change
ReplyDeleteA state visit is not the top for children, perhaps they would like better stay at home and play with friends...
DeleteIs is not a state visit. It is a visit for Prince Albert II of Monaco (and his family) to attend the opening of an exhibition "Sailing the Sea of Science" which is dedicated to his great, great grandfather, Prince Albert 1 of Monaco.
DeleteIt is one hundred years since the death of Prince Albert I. It's a subject that could be of great interest to the kids.
Nice family visit--love they included the children as the museum was probably quite interesting for children. Its good to see Charlene really getting back into her public role.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Not crazy about Princess Charlene’s all black outfit. I like fitted blazer, flared pants or loose blazer slimmer pants but wide for both is too bulky, especially in such a dark color for summer. Great gold earrings, necklace an smile. The kids look wonderful for their official visiting, helping Dad and Mom. Love that they took their kiddos- so smart to travel with them rebuilding stability and confidence.
ReplyDeleteGlo
I am so glad to see Pss Charlene, the children and Prince Albert at this event. She looks happy and engaging, she had done amazingly well.
ReplyDeleteBecause they like it?
ReplyDeleteCB
ReplyDeleteCharlene doesn't know how to dress her daughter .
ReplyDeleteAva
I dont think she wears her daughter, they probably have personal waiters.
DeleteThey are using stones and rocks to add weight to the red carpet, how functional!
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! Crown Prince Haakon, Prince Albert and Prince Jacques are wearing matchy-matchy neckties.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they dress prince Jacques like an old man? There are lots of pretty modern clothes for young boys to wear at an official occasion. Charlene looks smashing.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see that the Monaco royals so relaxed.
ReplyDeleteSo good the see the family out and about. I personally do not like little girls wearing black, but fashion change and I noticed, even here is South Africa, that a lot of girls prefer black clothing. Fashion colours change and I (we?) still live in the "pink-for-girls-and-blue-for-boys" era (~MS~)
ReplyDeleteThis is most reasonable comment here re girls wearing black. Times have changed, and that change happened a long time ago. If it was not acceptable, proper children's clothing lines would not offer the designs. What was once the rule in the mid 20th century does not apply today. There are still people that think black is only for mourning as well. Black is worn year round and not just reserved for funerals. The one thing that is still bad form is critiquing the children. Until they are adults, they don't deserve the negative feedback that keeps coming at them from so many.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to agree with all the positive comments above ! I hope (Charlene's health permitting) we see them make more foreign visits ! P
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful seeing Charlene so relaxed and completely at ease. It shows how happy she was when she and Albert shared a kiss in public! Bravo Charlene! Keep it up and God bless you and your lovely family!
ReplyDeleteThis is the most ill-fitted suit on Prince Albert, both the jacket and trousers. Someone should take care of his clothes.
ReplyDelete@Marina: The suit is not the problem, the problem is Prince Albert and his weight. He urgently needs a good diet to lose 20 or so kilos.
DeleteAt his age, being overweight can lead to important health problems.
Please, Prince Albert, for the sake of your family and kids, a good diet as soon as possible.
Charlène again in a dark outfit. From her I can understand it. But the children are dressed like they must go to a funeral, especially Gabriella. Why on earth she must wear a black dress, black hairband, black tights ? Prince Jacques is dressed much too old for his age. I think they may choose themselves what they wish to wear.
ReplyDeleteHer dress isn't black
DeleteI never comment on children’s outfits, and that is because I dislike all the snarky comments, come on ladies!! Can’t you wait until they are adults to start tearing them to pieces?
ReplyDeleteCherry
Maybe you should ask their parents :cant you wait until they are adults to expose them to the public taking them to events which they dont even fully understand??
Delete@Anon 21:56 Maybe you should ask each and every royal family throughout the world if it is right to have children that have absolutely no say in their future. Like it or not, these children have no choice. They must learn how to attend these events, meet with other royals and dignitaries the world over, and dress unlike other children because they were born into these roles. Heaven forbid an heir or a spare decides they want a different life than the one thrust upon them. As we have seen, they are "cancelled" not only by their family but the world over. Their happiness comes much further down the list, with duty always being This is not something the a future monarch can just pick up as an adult, it a job that is lived for an entire lifetime--whether the child likes it or not. They are born in training.
DeleteI can understand the comment of both anonymous here above (if I can put this in the plural) ! They both really make so much sense.
Delete@anon 3.51: saying that royal children "never have a choice" is making a very offensive statement. Offensive towards all those children who are now living a war and who are deprived of a home, sometimes of a family and of a normal future. Offensive to all those other children who, because of the place where they r born will never really have any chance to live a life with dignity.
DeleteSo, please, lets not make a tragedy where there isnt any: these little royals are not still able to make choices, but their parents are!
And IMO, exposing at public events kids who arent even 10, is not a good one.
Let them be kids who behave like kids.
-G-
Exposing royal kids at public events has nothing to do with some bloggers' urgence to use them as targets to hit.
DeleteRoyal life is a world of its own and children and young people born into royalty have always been exposed but I do not remember this compulsion to bring them down in the past by common people.
The way you are putting things sounds like anything can be said about royal kids, because their parents make them visibile to the public, so they are the only ones to blame.
Hate towards them on a social blog has no justification at all, no matter how you are trying hard to spin the matter.
Royal kids are just like all the other children and deserve most respect from adults.
Now, why bringing in the war too?
Of course, in the ongoing conflicts children are deprived , without a future and pay for others' crazy decisions.
All this is a tragedy indeed but you seem to mingle such different situations to justify some kind of hate towards royal kids.
Hate because they are privileged maybe?
You seem more and more confused on the correct use of a social blog, of that I am sure.
Great to see Charlene and the children there to I must say charlene looked very nice. The Children are so grown already. Loved her pant suit's.
ReplyDeleteAno 21h56 entièrement d’accord avec vous. .
enfants qui me paraissent timides.
Jacques a beaucoup grandi.
I think there are double standards for Princess Charlene when it comes to wearing black. It seems she is the only one raked over the coals for her and Gabriella who chose to wear black which I think it is a classic color and quite sophisticated and lovely. some say Charlene should not allow her daughter to wear black and only to funerals if she does and she should not be allowed to pick out her own clothes I have never read where Princess Gabriella picks her own clothes. someone said Prince Jacques dresses like a old man and someone said they never smile. Queen Letizia wore a beautiful black leather like dress, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore black, Crown Princess Mary wore navy yet no one criticized any of them. I just think some have hostility towards Charlene who is a beautiful woman and never appears to have any bad feelings towards anyone. To those who dislike her so much do you realize how sick she was for a while. Why don't you leave her the hell alone, she appears to be vulnerable at times and that is when some take advantage of that and beat up on her....She does not deserve this and the ones who treat her unfairly should give her a break and lighten up on her!.
ReplyDeletePerfectly said, Fitzhugh!
DeleteI am just fed up with all this nastiness towards Charlene, her children and royal children in general.
I am a mother too and I do not get how women and maybe mothers can target even children' s clothes.
Stop the hate and do not pretend to just express opinions on Charlene and her twins.
👏👏👏👏👏
In case someone should go berserk for my putting clapping hands emoji.
DeleteIt means I applaud Fitzhugh' s comment.
Take a camomile, social blogs are made for this... Or you hadnt realised it until now?
DeleteOh, that's interesting, anon.11:29.
DeleteSo one has to realize that social blogs are made for hate disguised with expressing opinions and freedom of speech, no matter if children become easy targets to hit?
Anything is allowed, then?
And if someone protests, you just advise people to have a camomile and you think you can get away with it?
You seem very confused and misleading to say the least.
A very dangerous way to use social blogs, I'd say.
@p the original: do you know the word "irony"?
DeleteFitzhugh, beautifully articulated, well said. I agree with you entirely.
DeleteYes, I do know what irony is and I am aware that it is out of context here.
DeleteOne should know how to conduct irony anyway.
Hope you will be willing to leave alone royal children and their mothers from now onwards.
@p the original 8.45: be informed that as long as this blog will be free, i will always feel free to write my opinions.
DeleteAnd i know you will always read them!! 😏
Anon.25/6/22 11:09
DeleteYes, of course my entire life is devoted to your comments👍
You should have written: I will always feel free to express my hate towards royal children and their mothers/parents in general and some of them in particular.
I think everyone on this blog has realized that by now.
Wow! Crown Princess Mette-Marit's outfit is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteT
I agree, and princess Charlene and the twins have other outfits than at the exibition. Very nice .
Nice photo of the MRF and the NRF. I am quite sure that they had a lovely lunch together.
DeleteValentine, tu as l air de n avoir rien compris.
Tu peux y reussir.
Very true about little Charles. The only comments about him are how cute he is.
DeletePeople are strange... They ask not to comment negatively and then they complain if someone says Charles is cute.
Delete@Anon 13:08 You should read Valentine's original comment before making a nonsensical retort.
would be nice to see that photo when they received the gifts after the exhibition.
DeleteAnonymous @21:56, your response is exactly what is wrong with people nowadays, so you feel that because this family goes to certain obligations with their children, and they are in the public eye , you have the right to judge, attack and basically be a bully? So if you were to take your own children to the movies or to a restaurant I could seat next to you with a few friends and start saying unkind things about them? after all you are in a public venue. Where is your moral compass?
ReplyDeleteCherry
Cherry, if you had a full comprehension of my post, you wouldnt make such a comparison between a common family going to the movies and an over the world known royal family appearing on the entire web.
DeleteBut you dont seem to have this simple level of understanding.
Cherry, can you tell us where unkind things about these children have been said? I cannot find one.
DeleteThank you.
Terry
I'll tell you. I don't mind.
Delete* "[T]he Princely twins often look like little hipsters or Hollywood kids. (especially Gabriella)"
* "Unless it’s a funeral, no child should ever be dressed in black."
* "The twins look rather sad again. I would love to see them looking really happy for a change"
* "Why do they dress prince Jacques like an old man?"

There is your sampling. Keep in mind that these quotes are just for this post. There are many more examples in other posts. The opposite opinions for each of these quotes are stated above as well. We all see what we want to see in a picture, don't we? This family has far more negativity thrown at them than the other families do. Curious. It is really no one's business. The children are happy and healthy, being educated and well cared for. They are loved by their parents and extended family, and are being treated to a view of the world most children will never see. They have been taught from a young age about making a difference throughout the world from picking up trash to involvement with charities. Yes, by all means, let's make a big deal about a girl in a black dress (which may or may not be related to the death of a firefighter) and a boy in a sportcoat and
@18.57: the words you picked up have been taken by different comments and probably different hands. None of those ones from mines. Before addressing to someone in particular you have to make sure its the right blogger, and in this site you cannot because there are many anonymous which are evidently allowed. This means you cant afford being agressive with anyone if its not clear who wrote what. Its not said that all negative posts come from just one blogger.
DeleteAnd its not me who decided the rules of the game.
@Anon 20:08 What in the world are you talking about? Terry (Anon 11:43) asks, "Cherry, can you tell us where unkind things about these children have been said? I cannot find one." I doubt Cherry wants to waste her time with this, but I have the same problem with the way the children on this blog are treated. None of them asked to be born into royal families, none of them asked to have people with cameras following them around taking their pictures, and they certainly aren't asked if they mind if their pictures are published to a worldwide audience. When those pictures end up on sites like this, what happens? A bunch of cackling hens decide to have their fun, never taking into account the differences from country to county, the traditions they follow, or accepting that they are CHILDREN and might act like children both in behavior and dress on occasion. The cackling hens would rather pick on these children than say nothing at all. Why pick on kids that are underage? Maybe you kick babies and cats that get in your way as well. I don't know. We all need to have some boundaries.
DeleteAgain. The question was, "Cherry, can you tell us where unkind things about these children have been said? I cannot find one." I picked them out. Just what is the problem? How did I misread the question? By the way, there was nothing aggressive in what I said. I used quotes and copy and pasted. Those are not my words. The last paragraph is mine, and entirely factual. We all see what we want to see in these pictures and the comments. The children are very well cared for and are very loved by a great many people. It is a fact that there are dozens more negative comments about these two children and other royal children. And lastly, it is a fact that it is none of our business. We were all free to bring up our children as we saw fit, and they are free to do the same. Not everyone will agree with their decisions, just as not everyone agreed with all of the decisions we made bringing up our children.
This morning I found photos of the funeral of the fireman who died in action in Monaco some days ago. It was a state funeral with princess Caroline attending as Albert is on this official visit. As the firemen are part of the prince's guards the funeral was performed with military honours (sorry if I don't know the right words). According to traditional customs the prince's family were dressed for mourning. That is the reason for black/dark clothing for the exhibition and grey/dark for the lunch with Norwegian royal family.
ReplyDeleteWearing dark clothing when in mourning was customary even for ordinary people, but the rules are no more so strict as they used to be. Specially in the Mediterranean countries older people often wore black/dark everyday as a relative or a friend had passed away. Please do understand that in different countries there are different customs which can be as "good" as your own.
When younger, I have myself obeyed those rules: three months all black ("total sorrow") and then black-white-grey for next six months ("half sorrow") after a near relative. Nowadays one can choose how long to wear dark.

My dear anonymous, deflecting is not a good argument. My comprehension level is just fine, so is my decency.
ReplyDeleteGood day!
Cherry
Cherry, we still waiting for you to tell us what are the unkind things written about the little royals....
DeleteProbably you cannot find a single line.
Go back to yr decency and use it next time before attacking people without a serious reason.
Bye.
I read all the comments and I found a lot of bloggers who are champion in twisting the words of others. Each royal family have their own traditions of their own country. Some follow these traditions until today. Others started new traditions more adapted to modern times. There will always be differences from one country to another whether it is about sad things like funerals or happy things like national day of kings day. That is the case in royal families and in common families. That is also what makes people interesting so equal and yet so different.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said. Thank you.
