King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands are making a state visit to the Republic of Austria from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 June at the invitation of President Alexander Van der Bellen. The state visit began on Monday 27 June in the capital, Vienna, with a welcome ceremony at the Hofburg.
In the afternoon, the King and Queen first attended an official wreath laying ceremony at the Shoah Wall of Names Memorial in Ostarrichi Park held in order to commemorate the victims of the World War II. Afterwards, King and Queen paid a visit to the mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, and to the Deputy President of the Austrian Parliament, Doris Bures.
Natan Jamba half-long draped silk crepe dress
Looks like a flying dutchman…and a white tablecloth…
ReplyDeleteI loved this bold, monochromatic look until I saw the back view. There’s something about that deep neckline that doesn’t work for me. It’s as though the cape has slipped somehow. From the front Q. Max looks wonderful. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteI agree about the back. It ends up looking like a poncho that´s slipped back a bit. Not attractive. The front view however, is very elegant.
DeleteA lot better than the opening in the back of P Beatrice's light green dress the other day.
DeleteThis red is eye blinding!! the back of her dress is like a Spanish attire for bull fighters, matadors
ReplyDeleteM
I like the dress, it is flattering. I'm glad to see no outlandish jewelry. However, I do wish she had a non red clutch (I'm on the fence about the shoes). The red really looks good on her, it is just a lot without any break in color. (I'll leave my comments on the one leather glove.)

Magnificent! MR
ReplyDeleteI know it's Natan but I love it. Like the hat too but perhaps a contrasting colour would have looked better and it was perhaps on the large side for the windy conditions, but she couldn't have known that in advance. Sadly the first lady looks like she's wearing a nightie.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Red is a good colour for Queen Máxima
ReplyDeleteVery nice outfit and I love it on Queen Maxima. She can really wear anything and still look good (most of the time). But this outfit is stunning, literally from top to bottom ~MS~
ReplyDeleteyes, I agree.
DeleteI also agree. Maxima commands presence and she has the personality for it. This outfit is very red, but she still makes it look amazing.

Like the cape dress and the summer hat. I think it is the same dress Queen Mathilde has in emerald green. Mrs. Van der Bellen dress looks like a lounge dress or even a nightgown.
ReplyDeleteWell done Queen Maxima! Diplomatic dressing at its best and that is very elegant. Love her hat and other accessories except for the shoes--I hate those shoes that have the plastic inserts. Glad to see Maxima is continuing her rather toned down look with jewelry as it is so much more polished and elegant (at least in my opinion). The Austrian First Lady looks cool and comfortable in her dress.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Almost like her outfit. I think the fabric ia too stiff for the cape.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks great. Love her hat and hairdo!
ReplyDeleteWell, Queen Maxima certainly won't get lost in the crowd :-))
ReplyDeleteShe never Will, she always wants to have all attention
DeleteGorgeous!! So pretty and eye catching. No one in the crowd will say "where is the Queen?"
ReplyDeleteIt looks like she's dressed for Halloween.
ReplyDeletePlease, the hat. Just too much. A Queen should be elegant not clownish. The dress is beautiful but the hat, not. It’s me, me, me. No class.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is fabulous. Similar hats worn at various times by Queen Mathilde, Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Wessex’s, Duchess of Gloucesteretc etc. You clearly don’t like the hat, which is your choice but wrong to say the wearer has no class.
DeleteI agree with you Anon. 05:45.
DeleteThe thing with queen Maxima is her personality, she is vibrant, full of energy, always laughing, always happy. It it translated in the way she dresses. It is not fair to call her a clown, or someone who is looking for attention, has no class. She certainly does not dress on purpose but because she likes it herself. For example the red dress, with the red accessories. She dressed like that (in different shades of red, dark red, wine red, etc. during the whole winter 2021). You don't do that if you don't like it. Monochromatic looks is something she is doing regularly. That's her style. Also a lot of jewels. Other queens or princesses have more minimalistic styles, which can be very beautiful too. That's the difference between people. It is what's make the world go round. If everyone wears the same it is not interesting anymore.
I like the dress covers the back nicely over the fitted dress. The first lady might of done better wearing higher heels otherwise pretty dress
ReplyDeleteQ Maxima look's stunning in this red combination. The jewels are a wow. Let's see what she wears at the State Dinner, hope it will be a Tiara event, very fitting for the Hofburg.
ReplyDeletePhoto N°9. Taken at the wrong angle.
ReplyDeleteHer hat looks like a witche's hat for Halloween.
I thought the same thing. I love the outfit but that photo made me laugh out loud:-) (Debra)
DeleteNot a very kind comment.. I just can imagine if this adjective had been used for Charlene....
DeleteDifferent standards, its quite evident.

DeleteI don't understand your comment.
I'm a bit thick, you know. In fact my hubby says that I'm one brick short of being a house. Perhaps you could explain your comment to me in a simpler language. Thanks in advance.
Big brim hats have a purpose, to shade the face and shoulders, not to seek attention. Am I wrong on this about hats?
ReplyDeleteNext to Máxima, loaded with jewellery and dressed as if she were going to a bullfighter's wedding, it is a relief to see the understated elegance of the charming Doris Schmidauer.
ReplyDeleteWell, one is a Queen, and the other one....very definitely isn't.

I love this outfit. Q Maxima looks polished, elegant and stylish. The dress has some interesting features. The cape, adding overall softness, which I love. The back, deep neckline, adding interest. The length of the dress is perfect. Color suits her beautifully, love the hat. Her diamond and pearl jewels are a wonderful addition. Her shoes, clutch and gloves, though they look lovely, maybe a contrast color would have added a variance to the overall look. The First lady has a very interesting dress, she looks cool and elegant.
ReplyDeleteWow, Maxima, what a marvellous woman in red!
ReplyDeletePity it was windy on that day in Vienna.
She had to make sure her hat would not fly away.
