Accompanied by Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Danish Crown Princess Mary attended an official dinner that was held to mark the opening of the New National Museum in Oslo. Together with a delegation of Danish companies and organizations, Crown Princess Mary visited Norway on June 10.
Rebekka NOTKIN Darling Diamond Gold Earrings
-Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteKing Harold was also absent and yes Mary has activities on her own when dealing with culture or some others. Yes this blog rarely mentions activities of Frederic on his own while they are referred on other media. Difficult to be exhaustive.
DeleteI love Mary's dress and jewellery. Great style.
ReplyDeleteI think all of the ladies look very good, but I confess I’m puzzled by the neckpiece that Q. Sonia is wearing. Perhaps someone else will explain it? I love the pink dress on CPMM - it’s a simple shape that fits her well. And CPM’s floaty chiffon is equally pretty. (V.M.)
DeleteThe Queen is wearing a statement piece from Toril Bjorg a norwegian jewelry artist. After all this is the new National museum.
DeleteMary looks like a goddess!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! MR
DeleteMary's dress is pretty I think this maybe a rewear Mary
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful all 3 ladies look! CP Mette-Merit's pink gown is pretty on her and I love its simplicity--just wish the tie at the neck wasn't there. Queen Sonja's beautiful white gown looks great on her. For the life of me I cannot figure out the thing on her neck or on the neck of the gown. Is it some sort of modern art type of necklace? It doesn't look like it is part of the gown. And, it has a clasp (?) that matches her earrings. I really like the gown but am not a fan of the neck thing. Finally, CP Mary--stunning in her chiffon gown! Love this gown on her and I love how she has added the jeweled belt for this outing.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Out of three dresses Mary's, Mette's and Sonia's... I don't like any.
ReplyDeleteAva
Mary looks smashing. But the shawl thing around her neck didn´t need to be so uncomfortably tight.
ReplyDeleteMette-Marit looks frumpy in comparison. I actually like the sturdier fabric, the rich texture, and the woven patterns in the skirt and sleeves. The overall silhouette is good too. But the colour is awful, the sleeves a bit puffy (her shoulders look huge), and the bow needs to go - too girly, especially on that candy-pink dress. Instead, I´d like the neckline opened up a bit, maybe into a nice square neck. Also, the darts are made too pointy.
Sonja´s dress is nice in its simplicity, and I understand that a statement necklace goes well with it. However, I think this looks to winter-y for an early June engagement (applies to Mette-Marit as well).
Haakon: The only times I think that Haakon is dressed well is when he´s wearing uniform. His jackets and trousers rarely look right, and this time is no exception. It´s not the velvet, or the blue (though I prefer black); it´s the fit. It looks bad.
The 3 ladies all look beautiful, Can’t help thinking Queen Sonya’s white dress is a re-wear, but I don’t think the added belt is a good fit, it’s too wide, a dull color, and creates awkward pleats in the bodice. The collar necklace is probably also meant to give a fresh look to a re-used dress, and I think it could look good if accessorizing a business-like suit, but here it looks out of place. A simple well-cut white gown can be dressed up in many ways, but I’m not liking what was done here.
ReplyDeleteMM’s bubble gum pink dress is charming, but the color makes it youthful, so her hair style is too teenage for me. I’ve loved her hair in loose waves, as she’s worn it of late, but would probably have worn an up-do to lend some sophistication to this look, and show off those beautiful earrings.
CP Mary is perfection from top to bottom, however the unfortunate color pairing of her muted coral gown next to MM’s bright pink detracts slightly from her overall look. S.M.
@S.M.
DeleteYes, CP Mary's gown shade may look as muted coral , but it is a self standing colour referred to as" Etruscan Red".
Wow, Mary looks sublime! MR
ReplyDeleteEveryone look great but Crown Princess Mary looks class of her own. Her dress, jewellery, hair, posture...wow, very elegant and classy.
ReplyDeleteKaarin
totally agree
DeleteShe is so naturally poised! Years of riding horses have given her an amazing posture. She accessorized perfectly with the earrings and belt. Also love her hair style. MM hairstyle didn’t do her any favors, I otherwise liked her dress and color. MR
DeleteCP Mary best dressed of all. CPMM lovely dress but the embroidery on the skirt and the sleeves is a bit too much. This dress would have been better with short sleeves. Queen Sonia : the dress on itself is simple and lovely. The necklace or whatever it is and the waistband don't go well together. The white shoulderbag should have been replaced by a clutch or another little handbag.
ReplyDeleteNow, what can I say about CP Mary?
ReplyDeleteA goddess- like evening gown, perfect in every respect, including accessories, hairstyle and make-up.
Fabulous.
Fashion wise, I am a llttle disappointed in CP Mette- Marit, her dress is kind of dolly/ candy- like.
She can sport far better ensembles with her gorgeous figure.
Her hair is nice though.
Except for the collar thing which I fail to understand, Queen Sonja looks beautiful and sophisticated.
Reading through the comments I agree with most but this sums up my thoughts exactly.
DeleteCP Mary looks beautiful in this floaty chiffon creation off the shoulder, stunning. I too am trying to work out the neckpiece area of Q. Sonia's outfit, she looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely ladies all around. Queen Sonja's stunning necklace is by a contemporary Norwegian jeweller. Leo
ReplyDeleteQueen Sonja often comes up with interesting and sometimes off beat neck wear, necklaces etc for formal occasions. I'd love to see a closeup of the necklace by the jeweller 'Leo'
ReplyDeleteThis kind of pink with this kind of blonde hair always looks like a Barbie doll imo. I find it kitschy and cheapening. I always avoid wearing pink, especially hot pink, since I have the same hair colour as Mette-Marit.
DeleteWe understand that you don't like Crown Princess Mette Marit or her dress, Vanessa, but enough with all the name calling and insults. Frumpy, kitschy and cheap - really? Dan
DeleteDan - Those are adjectives and they are needed to describe how things are. It is impossible to discuss fashion without them.
DeleteWhen did I say that I didn´t like Mette-Marit? I think she´s nice. I solely discussed her dress. And I even like aspects of her dress, but not the final product. When an outfit, and item or a colour looks frumpy, kitschy or cheap to me, I´ll say exactly how it is. And that is fine.
MM dress is by Peter Dundas and the Queen reuses a dress we have seen her in since 2007. First used when she and the King celebrated their 70th birthday. The Queens necklace is by the artist Toril Bjorg and MM uses the earrings she first used in Thailand in 2004 with 4 different stones. https://www.seher.no/images/76332582.jpg?imageId=76332582&x=0&y=2.6493799323563&cropw=100&croph=31.905298759865&width=993&height=567&compression=80
ReplyDeletePS I think they all looked good. They have different taste and that's good or else it would be so boring.
I agree with Anony14:44, yes to expressing different taste and originality, even if not always matching strict elegance criteria, provided it is elegant.
ReplyDeleteI just love how women wreak havoc on other women under the guise of talking about fashion. Don't know if that happens out of jealousy or because you're dissatisfied with your own life. But it's really bad, because this way, women weaken their own position when it comes to drawing attention to the real problems of women worldwide. All that's left is the perception that women lack solidarity with their own gender. And yes, this is a fashion blog. So why don't stick to the motto, if you don't have anything positive to say, you'd rather keep quiet. Scarlet Witch

DeleteHow rediculous. As you stated, this is a fashion blog. These women are judged by their appearance, and you know why? Because a fashionable appearance is all they have to offer. They are irrelevant.
DeleteYou are full of hatred and jealousy and this is relevant anonymous 21:19.
DeleteWhy are you on this blog if you
don't stand royal women?
@scarlet witch:so according to you, in this blog only positive opinions are allowed to be expressed. Why dont you found a fan club then?? A blog is a free place, opened to any judgement. Its the logic of social media, wrong or right it be.
DeleteAnonymous at 21:19 and at 9:12
DeleteI think that both @ Scarlett Witch and @Vanessa are right.
You are also right when you say that the logic of social media is (it should be but it is not, as a matter of fact) to allow free judgement .
Unfortunately, your phrase at 21:19 "Because a fashionable appearance is all they (royal ladies) have to offer" is quite revealing about your real thoughts and yourself.
I mean: by saying that, you are giving the impression that the royal ladies being featured on this blog are slated to get targeted by you and not for fashion related judgements.
The way you put things in your comments depicts a hate scenary, which goes by far beyond solely liking an outfit or not.
It sounds as though you consider these ladies nothing more than embellishments without any remarkable roles and even any inner value as human beings.
You see, it all depends on how each blogger express how they feel about royal ladies in their comments.
Given you bring in a "logic", you see that you are stretching too far in belittling these ladies without really knowing anything about their private lives and their work behind the scenes.
Where are and what are your " logical clues" in saying that?
I see no " logic" in the way you conduct your biased comments, only kind of deceiving sophistry.
That's why some people may think you hate royal ladies just because you are questioning their mere existence as royals.
It seems that you are using fashion as a mean to hit these royal ladies on deeper levels.
@ Vanessa is right, because sometimes one can't help using specific words, but Vanessa never questioned these ladies' roles and their public lives as far as I can remember.
Being a blonde myself, I can assure that Vanessa is right: the combo pink and very fair hair is bound to be a fail as you may appear like a doll.
This is what I said myself, not to talk down Mette- Marit ( I appreciate her a lot) but because I experienced this matching on myself.
I would never say that royal ladies rely only on their appearance.
Most of them were born in the middle class, they happened to meet the Prince and we all know their stories.
Most of them are highly cultivated women, married to Heads of State and have high profile representative roles as well (see Q.Maxima).
If you want to question these ladies' inner value ,you should debate also the roles of First Ladies in republics worldwide
While I understand that some filter is necessary and we cannot always say what we think out of courtesy, decency and consideration, we still need to be honest. What we need is constructive critique. And the royals featured here aren´t on private outings but are there to represent their respective countries and/or causes. We should by all means hold them accountable for how well they fulfill their job. They are public figures and have to deal with the public scrutiny that comes with the job. They have A LOT of privilege after all, it´s not like they´re suffering.
ReplyDeleteAnd the discussion has nothing to do with gender. We are readily discussing men´s fashion as well, and there are not only women discussing here.
Your suggested motto is in obvious contradiction with your own comment that is full of negativity. Also, good luck drawing attention to the real problems of women worldwide with your positivity-only policy.
So why don´t we stick to that motto? Because it would lead to a fake world where we pretend that everything is great and no longer look for ways to improve. It´s superficial, it´s not genuine, it´s not real.
(reposted because of typos)
I agree with Vanessa. These women fulfill public roles. Some people here on this blog believe it is "hate" only when you write "her outfit is not appropriate for this occasion".
DeleteAll three RL look fantastic. CP Haakon, sure seem to enjoy being the only man with his beautiful wife, lovely mother and great looking friend.
ReplyDeleteI like P Mary's style, however this muddy colour does not do justice to her beautiful complexion. She should wear clean colours and stronger toning's.
ReplyDeleteShe still is a very beautiful woman.
Maybe their some trolls active on this site, dictating what is wrong and right.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't mean Vanessa. Every human being has the divine right to make his/her own opinion expressed in a decent, polite way.
I like the way Mary has dressed herself, like a Hellenic/Roman godess/empress?
-Anna-
Jag älskar Mette-Marits klänning!
ReplyDeleteCP Mary looks stunning! I love the dress and the color. A+ as usual - Capt. Marvel
