On June 25, Crown Princess Elisabeth of Belgium christened the oceanographic research vessel RV Belgica in Ghent. RV Belgica will play a key role in Belgian and European marine research in the coming decades. The research vessel Belgica will be owned by the Belgian State represented by the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO). The home port is the naval base in Zeebrugge. The Princess wore a new tuxedo bodycon midi dress by Reiss.

An early sign of the future queen Elisabeth will one day be -- and all signs are bright. I've watched her publicly speak too. Superb. She's intelligent, getting the best education and has all the ingredients to one day be an outstanding monarch. Lovely dress most appropriate for the occasion and accessorized just right.
ReplyDeleteAgree totally! She has a natural X-factor, due to her personality! Open, interested, smiling, no pretentions, overdo's, etc.......
DeleteHappy future Queen. she is a beacon of light among those grumpy old men.
ReplyDeleteM.
Grumpy?
DeleteSenior and also young officials, both men and women, follow a strict discipline when on duty and this does not happen only in the navy.
Sorry for saying. but your words sound like you know very little of the world ouside.
Make me smile.
Magnificent Princess Elisabeth. Love the dress, the hat and the pink accessories. Just great.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely and elegant. And look at her high heels.
ReplyDeleteKaarin
This is a perfect look for the CP. Also the combination of hat shoes and bag. Love this white dress.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Your country should be very proud of you.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise. Again, congratulations.
Don't you worry. We are proud of her not only fashion wise.
DeleteLove the whole outfit. She has made a good choice. I like picture N° 9 the best. I read somewhere that she did her last exam yesterday in Oxford and already at work today. She is a busy lady.
ReplyDeleteI like the pink accessories, but navy or black would have stood out more, and looked a little better imho. jj
ReplyDeleteShe looked amazing!

Da wächst eine bezaubernde belgische Königin heran
ReplyDeleteGreat look overall; love the dress, shoes, bag. She looks radiant. The hair styling can be better.
ReplyDeleteYesterday still in Oxford, today in Ghent baptizing a ship. Maybe she didn't had the time to do her hair differently.
DeleteActually, it was raining for part of her time outside. Her hair went limp.
DeleteYes, regarding the hair. When you have on a hat you don't want your hair and hat competing. If she had pulled it back in a nice little bun - even loosely - the over all look would have been much better. She will learn and get the hang of it. :)

Very flattering, nice designed , nearly “ haute couture” dress.
ReplyDeleteLove it, as well as her accessories,
Mabel
Lovely, professional, and stylish at the same time—not an easy balance but Elisabeth achieved it here. I wish that the Dutch princesses would take note. Simple, elegant choices and no look-at-me posing.

ReplyDeleteI´m clearly the odd one out here but I don´t like this look much. It´s not awful, but it doesn´t look right either.
ReplyDeleteAbout the dress itself: Hate the shoulder pads, especially the way they create that fat edge. I also think the bust line looks wrong. The whole dress needs a curvier silhouette.
About Elisabeth´s styling: the fascinator looks costume-y on her. It just looks silly on someone just past teenage years. I don´t think the fascinator suits the occasion either.
A white sheath dress or A-line dress would have been great. The soft pink as an accent colour is lovely as such.
A fascinator or hat is required for this type of occasion. Just like last time when CP Elisabeth christened Pollux in 2015, she was wearing headband (proper for her age around that time) and Queen Mathilde who accompanied her, was also wearing fascinator. So the point is, CP Elisabeth just simply following the protocol.
DeleteI share your view in all points. Wrong dress for the occasion, and it doesn't fit her silhouette. On the model it looks kind of young and fresh, but combined with these fiftyish mother of the groom accessoires, flower fascinator, clutch and velvet pumps it went all wrong. She is a lovely young lady, there would have been so much better choices.
DeleteThank you Vanessa and Beth, now I understand what bothered me about this outfit, those accesoiress are out of place here for this very lovely belgian princess.
DeleteI'm hearing here all kind of objections. Maybe Sherry's comment is the closest near the truth. Since her majority 2 years ago, CP Elisabeth is representing her father when she is sent on duty. She cannot wear what she wants on an occasion like this. Since her father is head of the Belgian Army she cannot baptize a vessel in sports gear or jeans, she is supposed to dress like a lady with a hat, court shoes, handbag and a dress or a pant suit, or a two pieces outfit : jacket and skirt. During the next week or in 2 weeks, she will open a new research lab at the KUL (Catholic university of Leuven, Belgium). I think she will not wear a hat on that occasion.
DeleteShe is looking very beautiful, though this is granny-style.
ReplyDeleteIn any case not so granny like most of the younger members of the BRF are dressed.
DeleteYes, let's not pass up on some unrelated gratuitous BRF bashing opportunity.
DeleteThis isn't a angry or defensive reply. Just curious to know which younger members of the British Royal family wear granny style fashions. Lady Louise? She used to but not recently. The York Princesses, though in their thirties, are next youngest and I can't think of anything Grannyish they have worn recently. Personally, I don't think the dress is grannyish in the slightest.
DeleteYes lady Louise is the one who wears her dresses too long, who wears hats that are from her mother and don't suit her at all. Who wears grey clothes to go to the Jubilee party. Isn't that granny-
Deletestyle ?.
The York sisters they also wear their dresses too long. Their hats are not better than CP Elisabeth's. The cut and the fabric of their clothes are often something that grannies wear.
It is remarkable that CP Elisabeth, for her 1st solo visit wore a dress from the British brand Reiss. Also her hat (fascinator) looks like the English hats, although it is designed by a Belgian brand (Fabienne Delvigne) who also designed her clutch.
I do not like it. She is young, modern and sportive. This looks very artificial. She has to find her own style.
ReplyDeleteShe looks confident, engaging and self assured. A very impressive, mature young lady. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe Belgian royals always dressed so tasteful and elegant. It started with ( Italian!) Queen Paola who still looks so amazing. The same goes for Mathilde ( sometimes a rare misser) and now Elizabeth (who stole the show at the galadiner for the 18th birthday of Norwegian cp) seeing her here in this less-is-more white top dress. Maybe the Belgians can give some advice to the Dutch?
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't dare. Besides there is a good understanding between Amalia, Elisabeth & Ingrid (from what I heard).
DeleteUn look élégant sage qui convient tout à fait pour cette occasion ; j'aime beaucoup la petite touche de rose même si je ne suis pas trop fan du chapeau !
ReplyDeleteI don't think that going into all the stylistic details of her outfit is the right attitude today ! I rather like to quote a comment from here above : "Lovely, professional, and stylish at the same time—not an easy balance but Elisabeth achieved it here". I think that is the right mindset to have as a commentator today. It might well be that the shoulder pads are not perfect ...
ReplyDeleteToo young for that fascinator.
ReplyDeleteSo young and so elegant. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis young woman has something which goes beyond physical good looks. She is poised, elegant and with an aura of mystery that reaches beyond her age. It helps her overcome situations like this one, where her heels are a tad too high for comfort and where the rain makes her hair go limp.
ReplyDeleteShe is a future queen, make no mistake!
