On May 23, Queen Maxima announced the winners of the King Willem I Prizes 2022 at the Forum Groningen, where representatives of all nominated companies were present. The prizes were handed out by president of De Nederlandsche Bank and chairman of the Koning Willem I Foundation, Prof Klaas Knot. These prizes are awarded every two years in two categories, that is, Large Businesses and SMEs.
In recent months, various companies have applied for the prizes and three finalists have been selected in each category. The winners of King Willem I Prize 2022 were Mud Jeans International B.V. (Sustainable Entrepreneurship), Maan Research and Development B.V. (SME) and NXP Semiconductors N.V. (Large Business).
Queen Máxima is honorary president of The King Willem I Foundation that was established in 1958 on the initiative of De Nederlandsche Bank by a number of organizations associated with the business community.
I am feeling dizzy looking at that dress and I am pretty sure if Maxima looked at the mirror she would feel the same.

Agree. Less is more and this one is just way too much. Such a beautiful lady who can wear almost anything which makes this one disappointing.
DeleteI think a little bit to much color. Maxim is tall, she can pull it off. Nice to see her again.
ReplyDeleteOh well. I had hoped this dress had been lost in the closet or, even better, burned. It makes me dizzy just looking at all the patterns and colors. I still feel like the designer got a deal on surplus men's ties and put them all together in this dress. Even though I don't like the dress it does feel Queen Maxima well.

Wow. This is some dress! I feel I should hate it but actually it looks okay on Queen Maxima. It’s distinctive among all the suits but not in a way a ‘standard’ gown would be. Certainly wouldn’t want to wear it myself AnnieM
DeleteThis gown is a very unusual design, a very busy pattern. Its not one that appeals to me, regardless the Queen looked lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a Halloween costume, and as usual, her hair is a mess.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima's hair is not a mess. In fact it is better lately. She must had regularly a brushing before going to one of her planned visits.
DeleteI have no words: except "look at ME" anne
ReplyDeleteExtremely nice dress ruined by belt and messy hair,

Non, je n'aime pas du tout ; Maxima nous a habitués quand même à beaucoup mieux !
ReplyDeleteQM always dares to wear something different than usual, something I appreciate, but for me this (re-worn) dress is not a success. I don't think the belt goes well with it. In some photos from the side, her lower body appears much longer due to the effect of the diagonal direction of the stripes and the whole thing takes on a skewed body proportion to me.

If I were the designer, I'd call this dress "Sunday Night's Dinner".
ReplyDeleteThat is, it's made up of all the leftovers from previous meals or in this case, leftovers (off cuts) from previous dresses.
With inflation and rising prices, maybe we are going to see more dresses like this.
BUT it's a dress that fits in with the Maxima's style of fashion :-))
She has this dress for a few years now. Nobody talked about inflation and the prices were not rising quicker than normal when this dress was new.
DeleteAbout the dress itself : I like the bodice of the dress. If the skirt of the dress was plain black or cobalt blue it could have been worked. Now the skirt looks like it is made of ties.
Dear @ Anonymous24/5/22 20:08
DeleteMy comment was ment to be on the light side and hopefully put a smile on some of my fellow bloggers face.
Looks like I got it wrong.
I'll try to be more serious next time.
Sorry about that @Anonymous 24/5/22 20:08 but be warned, being serious is often a bit hard for me. I love to laught, chuckle and smile.
Maybe you should zap over my comments.
I like the dress . Queen Maxima looks great . Her hair and make up are lovely as well.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
DeleteAnother awful outfit, how do you come up with something like that, doesn't flatter at all. A new, very expensive watch from Hermès Cape Cod with a crocodile leather strap, really impossible. Betty
ReplyDeleteLove this dress
ReplyDeleteMe too Marinde .
DeleteI like this dress but definitely not on Maxima (just as I liked the Dries van Noten dress a few posts earlier but definitely not on Mathilde, and for the same reasons). This dress would look great on a very slim and tall person - the vertical colour columns of the skirt need the body height (which Maxima has) and the geometric shapes of the fabric pattern would be less accentuated on a very slender person (which Maxima is acceptably not). The busy pattern is not complementary when it flares out from the waist or hips.
ReplyDeleteHowever like others, I applaud Maxima for wearing a striking dress and to be honest, she doesn't look too bad in it. I can think of others for whom this dress would be more of a disaster.

I think she looks ridiculous
ReplyDeleteThis is Mary Kratanzou at her best. It takes confidence to wear her dresses, but as Kate, Sophie Wessex and other royals have demonstrated, the confidence pays off.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to read up on Mary Kratanzou. Born in Greece, studied in America and set up her fashion empire in London.
ReplyDeleteAs @ Anonymous 25/5/22 02:50 said, "it takes courage to wear her dresses".
Although her designs are "zany" there is an enormous amount of quality and originality in her work.
Hope we see more of her work. But which royal lady will have the courage to wear it.
A nightmare of a dress. Makes one dizzy trying to look at her. Hair a mess as well.
