On May 16, 2022, Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the semi-final of The Queen Elisabeth cello competition 2022 held at Brussels Flagey Culture Center. In 2022 the Queen Elisabeth Competition dedicated to the cello for the second time. From 9 May to 4 June 2022 the best young cellists from the four corners of the world compete in Brussels.

I agree with you.
DeleteI think this dress is new and it is made of linen. Very simple dress but a good fit for Queen Mathilde. Love the earrings. The nude clutch and shoes are a good choice to match the orange of the dress.
ReplyDeleteA lovely, simple, well fitting dress on Mathilde. A small piece of jewellery could also have looked nice, but the richness of the fabric makes up for it. Orange is the new black.

This dress is certainly vibrant. but suite Queen Mathilde well. Nice neckline, good length, not too flared, and good accessories.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looks lovely here--I've studied the 2nd photo for a bit and think I like the dress without a belt as the lack of a belt de-emphasizes the fact she is shortwaisted. I would have liked to see a brooch or a string of pearls.

I've never seen Queen Mathilde with a long (or medium) string of pearls. The only pearl necklaces she wears very occasionally are a choker with little pearls or a short one with big pearls around the neck. Brooches she wears regularly and she has some beautiful modern and classic brooches. I know she has a full agenda these days (people she meet at the palace for an audience and/or 2 or 3 visits a day, of which we don't see the pictures here). I think she simply forgot about the jewelry.
DeleteThat is great look, her hair beautifully done and dress perfect in good length for her.

Very nice.

This outfit looks very attractive. The dress is a great length, love the beige accessories.
ReplyDeleteThis is so much better then what she have been wearing lately. So to be critical a new more modern haircut wouldn't hurt 😉 I think she should go for a short. Look how fantastic, modern an chic.

Comparing to other queens and princesses Queen Mathilde's hair is not too long. As she often wears an updo she cannot cut her hair too short. I think she does not like too much the use of false hairpieces. Sometimes when the hairstyle cannot be done without that she uses false hair.

DeleteThat is not a picture of Queen Mathilde with short hair but with an updo. You cannot see it because the picture is taken in front view. She is doing her hair regularly that way when she has to go to an evening event f.ex. or during a state visit.
I know it's a picture with an updo. I'm not completely blind 😉 I used it as a point to show how good she could look with short hair. Of course she can cut her hair short and still have an updo at special events. Several royal ladys do that. Queen Elisabeth has short hair. Also Queen Sonja, Grand Duchess Maria Theresa, Queen Sophia, Princess Beatrix, Ex-Queen Anne-Marie and so did also Diana have. Duchess Sophie had short for years with several others. In 2015 we saw Queen Letizia with a short, short bob. And who says a royal lady can't have short short hair? They decide themselves just like we do. Mathilde has a tend to look outdated also her haircut. A modern hair cut would change that a lot.
DeleteLike you said they decide themselves just like we do. Queen Mathilde DOES NOT has a tend to look outdated. I can give you several examples of princesses and queens who look outdated. Compared to them QM is an elegant, modern lady who knows what suits her. Among the examples you name in your comment there are royal ladies who are much older than Queen Mathilde and whose hair has about the same length as hers. So what is the point ?
DeleteWonderful dress in color, shape and fit. The Queen looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis time she nailed it - paste & copy it! Siv
ReplyDeleteLovely dress style, even though orange is not my favorite color.
