On May 20, 2022, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden attended the 200th anniversary event of the Scania and Blekinge Court of Appeal at Hovrätten court building in Malmö. The Scania and Blekinge Court of Appeal (Hovrätten över Skåne och Blekinge) is one of the six appellate courts in the Swedish legal system. At the anniversary event, the Court of Appeal's staff gave various lectures concerning the court's activities.
Zara lapelless fitted blazer in green
I´m in full support of the colour choice, but that´s about it. This suit isn´t flattering. The long jacket together with the cropped trousers make her legs look stumpy. The trousers *may* look alright if styled casually, i.e. with a simple top and flat shoes. Also, they seem to be of rather flimsy material, so not really suited for formal trousers. The jacket has potential and maybe looks nice with a plain pencil skirt. I think it also needs something much simpler underneath, like a plain round neck top. This type of busy blouse with a statement design never works with a blazer or jacket on top. I think it looks nice by itself (on a grandma), though personally I prefer less high necklines and less shiny fabrics.
ReplyDeleteNow, the scarf tied around the purse. I don´t know. Victoria has done that several times before, and mostly more successfully than this time. I understand that it is a fashion thing rather than a item brought for potential use (she already has a high neck blouse and there is no point or way to combine that with an additional scarf), but it looks superfluous here. It´s not needed as a colour accent, it´s not needed for warmth, it´s not needed for anything and instead makes for a cluttered look.
Lastly, the bun needs to go. It looks bad. It ages her, just like the blouse.
I fully agree with EVERY word you wrote.

It doesn't even look that great on the model.
DeleteYour comment Vanessa is exactly what I think, thank you.

Well said Vanessa. Agree entirely with your points.
DeleteThank you for writing everything I think--thank you!

O please..,
ReplyDeleteA skirt could be so much nicer; look at the other ladies,
Mabel
ReplyDeletePleased to see a few more positive comments from here on .... I think it is a flattering suit. I might just prefer a more simple top coordinated with it.

ReplyDeleteThis suit is very flattering on Crown Princess Victoria. I admire her as a person but not always a fan of the daytime suits she chooses. This is modern and also fits and compliments her nicely. Although it's not MY favourite colour, I think it flatters Crown Princess Victoria. Her glowing smile helps too.

I agree with the suit is apporpriate, yet not a favorite color of mine. Love her 'work-hair-do' which keeps it out of the way, and subdued during working meetings.
DeleteI tend to agree, though not a fan of the shade of green, the suit looks lovely, appropriate, very modern and compliments her well.
DeleteIt’s a flattering look and a good colour for CPV. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteWould have been so much better with a simple white top/t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteDear Vanessa, CP Victoria is not wearing a “grandma” blouse. This type of blouse that can be worn with a bow was created by Yves Saint Laurent and has been a classic for women of ALL ages as long as I can remember, a bit of research would help before being so harsh on this young woman. Her bun ages her? I disagree. I understand that her hair is difficult to tame so this is one of her pratical solutions.

I don´t really care about labels as top designers can produce unwearable horrors and no-name items can look fantastic. Or vice-versa of course.
DeleteThe blouse is not terrible from what I can see, though I don´t like the very high neck and the shiny fabric. I don´t even think it´s a bow blouse. It looks like it´s gathered into some sort of knot. Not easy to sew, and a striking design in itself. I think it can be worn successfully with a simple, sharp skirt or simple, sleek trousers. But I still stand with my initial verdict that the blouse is too old for her. The shiny fabric alone causes that, a fabric usually prefered by older ladies. It also looks dated (and therefore old) with an early 80s vibe a la Alexis Carrington-Colby. Usually, high necks are preferred by older women who don´t want their necks exposed to much. All in all, the blouse ages her. YSL or not. If she really wants to wear a blouse like that, it needs to be styled sleek/sharp so that the blouse (as the only aging item) produces a vintage vibe rather than an old look. Same applies to the bun.
Be current-looking with a dynamic and fun style, then you get away with a bun. Be a sleek and sharp dresser, then you get a away with a vintage item thrown in.
Just wanted to draw you attention to the fact that Vanessa is the top commentator on this page with a very sharp expert eye. Always a great pleasure to read her pieces. Sorry to see your arrogance towards her.
Delete@Virginia: Practical as much as you want but its been years she has this bun... She has become boring.

DeleteSeriously? There is no "top commentators" writing in this blog. We all have every right to express our own opinions, not that someone says what's right and what's wrong. How is it arrogant to say your own opinion? Vanessa does not own this site. If you are her follower then fair enough, but please do not say what the others should think and write. Just me
I love that she carries "real" handbags sometimes and not just those clutch purses that hold one tube of lipstick and maybe a small phone.
ReplyDeleteNice to see both out, they had a very busy week. So glad we are getting back to normal. What ever that may be?
ReplyDeleteInteresting variety in the comments today. Personally, i love the colour and agree with Mabel that a skirt would look better and with Anon 19 34, that a simple T shirt would have looked better. I'm also pleased to see at least one person, Virginia., agrees with me that CP Victoria's hair style is far more suitable for business style events that the flowing locks of some of my other favourite royals.
ReplyDeleteMany of us have expert eyes here but our comments are shorter. I was not speaking about labels and vintage but about YSL INSPIRED blouses, as can be witnessed every season. Many of us are certainly grandmothers, my grandmother was 42 when she got her first grandchild, and nobody wishes to be labelled in this manner. CP Victoria has pronounced facial features so a blouse might have given
ReplyDeleteher a softer look than a T-shirt. She is a busy CP, represents her country with
dignity and obviously has no desire to spend unnecessary time in front of mirrors
for the ultra-perfect look. I will defend her.

It is only CP Victoria who is wearing Zara and green ! If the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing a green blazer by Zara it is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a black or white T underneath the jacket would have been better but for the rest the pant suit fits her very well. Her hair will always be a difficult subject. Not everyone has a good hair quality and can wear straight or curly hair according their moods.
She looks matronly.
