Norway celebrates its Constitution Day on May 17. The celebration of the Crown Prince family began at their home, Skaugum Estate, in Asker. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, their children Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus welcomed with their national costumes the children's parade.
Thereafter, in Oslo, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus greeted the traditional children's parade and the crowd from the balcony of the Royal Palace. Norwegian Constitution Day is Norway's national day and is an official public holiday celebrated on May 17 every year.
These are such lovely, joyous, happy spring photos of a smiling family. It's good to see Mette is doing well, too. The downside is Sverre Magnus not it the traditional outfit; he should have been, like the others.Oh well, what the heck. - Ellie
ReplyDeleteThe value of a bunad can start from around 2000 USD to 10 000 USD (it is estimated that Ingrid's green bunad has this value). Prince Sverre Magnus has spent the last few years growing up into a man (look how tall he is now), and we all know that teenage boys need more years than girls to grow up physically so it hasn't made any sense for him (as in his parents) to invest in an expensive bunad that he'll grow out of within a few years. Maybe he wants one now that he's grown tall, maybe he doesn't. Let's wait and see:)

Delightful appearance. All of them look fabulous in their National Day costumes. I'm guessing Sverre Magnus is not keen on the costumes but he looks very handsome in his suit and overcoat (and very tall). The dogs are a nice addition to the family photos. They all looks great in the balcony photo.

Maybe prins Sverre will get a bunad similar to crownprince Haakon now that he has grown tall. Quite a difference in just about a year. He is getting more and more handsome.

ReplyDeleteTrès sympathiques photos de la famille royale ; c'est un véritable régal que de voir leurs costumes nationaux ; est-ce que nous voyons les deux adorables toutous de la famille, la mère et la fille ou le fils ?!
ReplyDeleteThe outfits are beautiful and I especially enjoy seeing Crown Prince Haakon in his outfit of the country.
ReplyDeleteMette-Marit, Ingrid Alexandra and Haakons bunads are beautiful. Sverre Magnus looks very tall and handsome, just like his father. I like all of the royals' outfits on the balcony. I think Ingrid wore that same coat a few years back, it has a beautiful color.

Joyous is definitely the right word to describe this lovely family. I love seeing them together. They all look good in these photos, even the dog! (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteIngrid-Alexandra is going to be a fabuous Queen, I think, she reminds me very much of Victoria - poise, aplomb, vivacity, and fortuntely she seems to have a far better teenage experience than poor Victoria had.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree to all of it!
DeleteLove seeing the CP family in their traditional dress--the bunads worn by M-M and Ingrid Alexandra are so beautiful! Sverre Magnus has suddenly gotten so tall--don't remember being as tall as or nearly as tall as his father. Also, love the dogs!!! The picture of the whole family is wonderful--can't wait to see more photos of the ladies outfits.

Ingrid has not worn the outfit before, but her mother has worn it for the same occasion 8 years ago.

It looks very similar to the one Ingrid wore on the balcony May 17 2019, but I might be wrong. I know it was first worn by Mette-Marit in 2013.

M is right Ingrid used this coat in 2019 also. MM used it in 2008 and 2013. So it's the fourth 17 mai we have seen this purpleblue coat. First time MM used it was in 2007.
DeleteA little fashion update. On the balcony MM are wearing her Max Mara Agadir Wool Collarless Coat from 2017 and Valentino Draped Cowl Neck dress from 2018 and Ingrid is wearing hers mom's coat from 17 mai 2013 don't know the designer and her mom's Alexander McQueen Jacquard Mini Dress from 2017.
ReplyDeleteWoul be nice to see the beautiful princess in a new outfit for a change. The pale blue coat suits her though!
DeleteAnother update. Was just informed that MM also used this purpleblue coat on 17 May 2008.
DeleteWhy buy new when you don't need to Cathrine. Sustainable fashion is high in this family.
DeleteWonderful appearance by the Royal family. The traditional dress are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove the last photo of the present and future monarch of Norway. They look like very good friends!
