On the 7th and last day of their Caribbean tour, the Earl and Countess of Wessex visited Camille Henry Memorial school, and Patricia D James Secondary school in St Lucia. The Earl and Countess met with staff and students from a number of St Lucian schools. Afterwards, The Earl and Countess visited Pigeon Island National Landmark. Pigeon Island is the home and major venue of the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.

I have been a fan of her tour wardrobe, I think she has hit it out of the park.

Another bad dress, hair, and shoe day. Who helped this woman pack for the tour? Jane
ReplyDeleteAu contraire, c'est son style, robes quasi toutes charmantes surtout celle ci.
DeleteAh les goûts et les couleurs...
I think her hair is fine, but I agree about her dress and shoes. The shoes look utterly cheap and uncomfortable. Overall, I think she has looked like a tourist at a resort most of the time. I understand the light colours and breathable fabrics, but there is no need to opt for shapeless nightgown-y dresses and combine them with clunky shoes. I assume she has a reason for wearing long dresses all the time (for years now, not just on this trip) but it´s not a flattering style on her.
DeleteHaving said that, I will add that I think this is one of the better dresses on this tour.
Lastly, I must say that I´m surprised how arid the land looks.
I like all Sophie's long beautiful dresses. I think she has put together both nice and practical summer dresses for the warm climate of the Caribbean. It is an official visit, not a working visit for an organization such as Mary's in Bangladesh..
DeleteAnd, still looking great after 7 days in this humid and hot climate, IMO.

Whether she is on tour or not she is very seldom dressed to look nice. If something is not too long it is too big or too wide or style of the dress is for much older woman or any woman at all. Pity because she has pretty face and good figure so she could look great.

Excellent comments. She has a nice figure but dresses in such a frumpy way, way too old for her and her hair needs more of a polished style.
DeleteHi, Vanessa.
DeleteThe soil Is so arid because it is dry season in the Caribbean now.
Rainfalls usually begin in June.
Flower prints and maxi dresses or maxi skirts are a must have for spring and summer this year but it is a matter of personal preferences , of course.
Thanks P for your insight on the weather patterns. Interesting.
DeleteThis dress is so pretty on her. And amazingly, despite the high humidity in the Carribbean, her hair has looked good too. Of all her wedges this trip, I like these the best. Way to go, Sophie!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is quite pretty but I prefer the design the model on the right is wearing, free flowing from the waist down and no frills. Not a fan of the shoes. The subtle necklace is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess has dressed beautifully throughout the tour. Her outfits have been light and comfortable while retaining the elegance of her position and that of the Queen, of whom they are representatives.
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Totally agree! She has looked great!
DeleteRenee
I agree as well.
DeleteWhat a lovely woman so simply but tastefully turned out. How special to have these countries highlighted and supported in such a positive way. Well done Sophie and Edward. Joy.
ReplyDeleteWhat immediately caught my attention in these pictures is that belt, which's far from a success: fabric, design, colour ... It all looks so off. The fabric and print of the dress have potential (pictures of model), but now it's not a good dress for the CoW and again the shoes are not so nice.

ReplyDeleteI prefer the 2 other versions presented by the model, especially the shorter dress in the middle. A belt in the fabric of the dress is nicer. Be careful with that belt dear Sophie, before you know it you are high waisted like Queen Mathilde. I like the fabric of this dress and the flower print is fresh and lovely. Prince Edward left his tie in the hotel and put on light trousers, well done. Generally Sophie's tour wardrobe was a good choice for the climate of the Caribbean area. Dresses too long in general but it looks like that is what she prefers. Accessories were not always the right choice but that is personal taste.
ReplyDeleteSuch a successful tour; they were welcomed with open arms;the crowds were said to be amazing. I love her dress and shoes;she is so pretty and natural, a breath of fresh air.(Tabby)
ReplyDeleteI agree with views about wardrobe making her look thrumpy, when in fact she has a nice figure but it has a lot to do with how her husband dresses, very drab and pensioner like and she can't out dress him I guess.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree she looks Frumpy but that's a matter of opinion anyway. I highly doubt she takes Edward's clothing into account when choosing her own attire - that's her preferred style.
DeleteSophie obviously hasn't got the dressing staff that Kate has got who is always immaculately dressed, and I suppose Edward and Sophie are not seen as the major royals which may also be the reason why Sophie isn't as groomed as she might be.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious that Sophie doesn't seem to have the dressing staff that Kate does who is always immaculately dressed. It may be that Sophie has more freedom to dress as she likes as she's not considered a major royal so therefore there's not the pressure for her to impress, nevertheless, I feel she could use a bit of guidance in how to dress for future tours....
ReplyDeleteI think the climate doesn't agree with her...she looks quite tired during this tour, maybe she's hot all the time. The dresses are a bit boho for my taste, if not downright frumpy. I don't think she dresses bad in Britain, but here she seems to have gone for a sort of holiday vibe, which doesn't seem appropriate to me. Of course she isn't the designated queen, but then she is a senior royal and a bit of formality seems appropriate.
DeleteAnother nice dress perfect for the trip and the occasion. Do wish she had chosen to use the original belt style instead of her own. Janet
