Queen Letizia of Spain arrived in Durham (UK) to visit the "Zurbarán Collection: Jacob and his twelve sons" at Auckland Castle. Queen Letizia and Prince Charles attended the opening ceremony of the "Spanish Gallery of Auckland Castle", the first gallery in the United Kingdom dedicated to the art, history and culture of Spain.
Auckland Castle has been home to Francisco de Zurbarán’s collection, Jacob and His Twelve Sons, for more than 250 years. Jacob and his twelve sons is a series of thirteen paintings by Spanish artist Francisco de Zurbarán. These works of art form the focal point for The Spanish Gallery, opening in Bishop Auckland’s Market Place.

Beautiful, simple, and chic--this is Letizia at her best in daywear.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself, what a gorgeous look!
DeleteChel
Yes, she knows how to get it right.
DeleteBut Prince Charles - hands in the pockets ........ no comment.
Would love to visit the collection.
One tiny brooch or necklace to finish the look (yes, I know QL doesn't overdo on jewelry but still ...) and it would have been perfect, but QL looks fantastic anyhow. This burgundy red suits her wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMCS
thumbs up for prince Charles tie ensemble matching with Letizia's.
Deletej.
I was just thinking about the same. He did an effort to put on a suit that fits better than his other suits, it looks like it is newer too.

DeleteQueen Letizia wears sometimes a brooch if she has to wear a tiara or for a very important gala, but otherwise she just wears earrings. I cannot remember her with a necklace, sometimes a beautiful bracelet but again only on special occasions. I think she says to herself "less is more" and that is my opinion too.
Doesnot she looks lovely?!
ReplyDeleteThis coiffure makes her younger.
Even prince Charles seeems to melt!
Mabel
I agree !
DeleteWe are missing the picture of Charles kissing Letizia's hand. It is a very charming picture! Letizia in a deeper color red, and as usual, she owns it! This dress has a simple silhouette with a few details to make it different. I like the pleated detail on the skirt, and shoulder buttons for an added touch. Bag and shoes are perfect, and the coat is to die for! I'm glad we are seeing it again. I love Charles' coordinating tie and pocket square. I don't know if it was planned, but it looks great. ~d
ReplyDeletethat's how prince Charles greets other royals including his mother
Deletej.
I completely agree with your remarks.
ReplyDeleteNice to see them together without their spouses.
ReplyDeleteLetizia always looks amazing in her signature look, all red.
It must be a relief for her not to wear a mask at an engagement.
J.
I hope that next week she don't regret not to have worn a mask.
DeleteWhat a wonderful dress. This superb ref colour is fantastic on Letizia. The model gives her fragile figure a boost, also because the dress is knee length. Anna
ReplyDeleteThe best part for me is that she has chosen to wear her hair naturally - in a casual style and without colouring the grey. She looks smashing.

I like her coat a lot. It looks great with that dress. Not sure about the hairstyle though.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see her face too.
No other words but stunning. Queen Letizia at her absolute best in a beautiful, stylish, well fitting dress and coat. I also admire the new hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteLetizia looks fab! I love the button detail on the shoulder. Her hair and make-up are spot on.
ReplyDeleteCharles looks smitten. They are a cute pair. They had similar engagement at the National Gallery a few years ago.
E.B.B.
The raspberry red is Letizia's color, just lovely. And the simple lines suit her as well.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous looks great. Her face has changed suggesting she has had some sort of enhancements which I don't think were necessary she was another natural beauty. M
ReplyDeleteIs this comment which relies on gossip and gets into the personal sphere of someone else's life necessary? Tacky!

@00.53: you still think that royals have a right to privacy? Didnt cross your mind the idea that they left it the day they became public figures?? Being protagonists of a public blog isnt already showing their personal life?
DeleteAnon 10:06...they are not protagonist of a public blog, they do not get money for this. Actually, in Spain they are considered public servants with a salary as everybody else.
@10:06 Every human deserves a level of privacy. Whether you agree or not this is her work. No one should be subjected to personal snide remarks and speculation in the course of their mission. Looks more like losing sight of the theme of the blog to advance the day's talking points and a paucity of dignity on your part. Some children are taught at a young age not to do this.
DeleteRegina
@regina: if you are the queen you cant have privacy. Stop.
DeleteBtw i dont know where exactly her privacy has been violated.
It occurs to me that if Letizia wanted to appear younger, she would start by coloring her hair. The grey is the most obviously aging thing about her. It is a simple and quick change, and most importantly, it is not permanent. It seems ridiculous to speculate about her having work done to her face. What the lady does or does not do is her business. Looking for signs of subtle tweaks on these royals is bordering on obsession.
Delete@Anon 15:26 Every person, public or private, deserves privacy. Of course a lot is sacrificed for a public life, but not everything. I suppose you think they should sell their souls as well? ~d
@10.56: what does it mean that they are not protagonists because they dont get money?
DeleteThis blog talks about royals or not?? So what should be our comments about?
If commenting means breaking their privacy, then the blog could close.
Anon...21:09. It means that nobody has asked them about that, It is something you are doing without permisión, I wonder when the human rights start. They have not sold their Life to a magazine for money, as some famous people do.
DeleteThe wife of the Spanish President of the Goventment does not have a blog and actually they represent the country too. Probably they would ask for privacy and they earn more money than the King.
@8.45: i dont know what the president if spain has to do with all this, still i dont see where the right if privacy of the royals has been restricted. We are just looking at their public pictures.
DeleteAnon 11:31..The President of the Goventment , not the President of Spain.
DeleteHe rule the country and represents the country, the King is only a diplomatic with no power at all. In UK for example, The Queen has some power, not here.
Your comment should have been deleted because the statements about her features is fabricated without any proof, has nothing to do with her fashion or the event which is what the blog reports on. She deserves the privacy of not having beauty treatments speculated on in print by cowards who know that she will not respond or sue.

How lovely to see the two of them together at this event! The Queen’s dress is gorgeous and, although I think it makes her look older, I like the hairstyle. The coat seems appropriate for the day as well.
ReplyDeleteShe looks fabulous, she knows how to carry red, this dress is ideal for a day affair, elegant but not over the top, also the pleats give her a little more volume,I like that she has a half updo as to give a little more panache to the otherwise sober outfit. Love everything about it.
ReplyDeleteCherry
This is a outstanding dress, very stylish and chic. I love the accessories. The coat is nice, but IMO too boxy in shape.
ReplyDeleteHow can her dress being too boxy. She is slim and her dress has the right length. It is jus perfect.
DeleteHow about you read properly before commenting? Doesn't say the dress is boxy.
DeleteHaha Queen Letizia is on a mission! The dress is lovely, a detail here and there.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me the royals have an intense relationship, good on them, together you can work a lot out also on a cultural level ( w're in this together).
Not entirely sure about the hair but why not for once. The earrings are to melt for!

ReplyDeleteThe hair pulled back are not good on her. She looks older and her facial features seem harder.
ReplyDelete-G-
