Princess Sofia of Sweden attended the Orthodox Easter celebration in the Castle Church held for Ukrainian refugees. Following the decision of the King, the Castle Church opened its doors for Ukrainian refugees to give them the opportunity to celebrate the Orthodox Easter. More than 400 Ukrainians participated in the service, which began with Princess Sofia welcoming. After the service, the participants were served the Ukrainian Easter cake pascha and the children were given Easter eggs.
The Orthodox Easter period often occurs later than the Easter period that falls around the time of the March equinox. In 2022, Orthodox Easter celebrated on April 24.

I don't understand a bit about this princess.
ReplyDeleteYou don’t understand her, when she speaks?
DeleteWhy?
DeleteShe's hard-working, happily married, a loving mother and very popular here in Sweden. What about her don't you understand?
DeleteI had doubts about her. Serious doubts. But she's come a long way imho.
Delete"Works"is a big word...
DeleteRoyalties do not do miracles like some people expect them to do.

Beautiful, appropriate dress PS's wearing for these celebrations; she looks good.

Personally, I do not feel like commenting on fashion when it comes to posts involving refugees related initiatives.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful little girl in the last pic says it all.
There can be no smiles in those eyes and mouth.
Thank you to the King, Sofia and all the other royals engaged in activities aimed at helping, supporting and also celebrating the Ukrainian culture and traditions.
Frankly, looking at this beautiful little girl brings tears to my eyes as no children in no parts of the world and for no reasons should ever be deprived of their lives, happiness and future.
Her eyes reflect the destiny of so many downtrodden and persecuted worldwide.
Humanity and the sacred value of innocents' lives are being destroyed once again in contemporary history.
Sometimes I still ask myself that question which was and is so often repeated nowadays by a lot people when talking about the atrocities of World War II : where was/ is God?
God has nothing to do here... It is men!
DeleteOmnipotent God as many believes HE is does not exist.

DeleteGood for you to have these certaintes.
Très joli modèle que j'aurais préféré voir avec des pois sur fond rouge ; que porte t-elle comme chaussures ?!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is lovely on Princess Sofia. A pity we cannot see the whole dress and her shoes.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress for the special celebration she attended.
ReplyDeleteVery nice dress and she looks good. Green shoes go well with black polka- dot dress on model. Unfortunately I don't have the photo of Princess Sofia shoes here.

Her dress is very appropriate for a funeral. Not especcialy for Easter celebrations.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand her either. Her way of dressing is very conservative, but still her total look is party-princess-in-grandma's-dress, IMO.
She is now a princess. Not a party girl. She is a mother. Things change. She is now dressing like an adult when the occasion calls for it. She is at an Easter service among refugees whose families are in the middle of a war. We don't need frills and lace. I believe she is trying not to 'stick out' as they say. Cheryl

DeleteThe DoC Kate was wearing about the same dress at the gathering to remember Prince Phillip. Did you thought the same about her ?
I respectfully disagree with this dress being funerary, I think is sober and highly appropriate for any religious holiday, not every culture do flowers & bunnies for Easter.
ReplyDeleteI think she has found a good balance for this particular occasion.
Cherry
My thoughts exactly.
DeleteI completely agree with you Cherry, well said.
DeleteTotally agree with you, Cherry.
DeletePrincess Sofia looks wonderful for this event. With the Easter services and the refugees being present, the attention is indeed not on her this day and she knows it and dresses for it. She has come a long way from when she started dating Carl Phillip. I do not think she has put a step wrong. She has kept her head down, performed whatever duties the King has asked of her, started the foundation against online bullying and dyslexia with her husband, and is the mother of three beautiful boys. Well done!! Sara
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteSeems like a few people could do with doing their research.

Lovely Princess, lovely dress.
ReplyDeleteShe can wear what she wants. Invain! It always looks like she wants to and not like she can. Frieda
ReplyDeleteI think it’s a very flattering dress that fits her well. The semi-sheer upper bodice keeps it from looking too serious for the occasion. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteLovely choice by Princess Sofia! Very much an Easter dress where I live. I hope she added a pop of color with her shoes as shown with the model--love the choice of green shoes. The little girl is beautiful in her pretty national dress--and the Easter eggs are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIn which country are dotted funeral dresses worn? The dress is neither grandmother's nor funeral. Princess Sofia from Sweden is dressed absolutely appropriately. The dress shows her slender figure - after giving birth to 3 sons! She knows what to wear for a church event - unlike other royals for whom a visit to the church is just another opportunity for a photo.
ReplyDeleteAs a believer, I think church is not place for show. I am upset when someone doesn't put one foot in the church all year round, and then they want to show off in front of the cameras over church holidays. However, this is not the case with Princess Sofia. She does charitable events quietly and with dignity (she also worked in a hospital through coronaepidemia). Her husband is an exceptional case of a prince who did his status of a second-born royal son with grace and without scandals. Very well Sofia.

Agree with your comment.

I agree with your comment, Stephanie, but I think that we don't know much about royals' religious practices as they may be going to their palaces private chapels more frequently than we imagine.
DeleteHow wonderful the refugees were able to celebrate the Orthodox Easter, a marvellous gesture. God's speed to all who are in difficulty and suffering xx
ReplyDeleteThis L.K. Bennet dress is very appropriate for the service. Do I remember right or is Catherine having the same dress? It doesn't really matter, just a thought. It's very obviously that Sofia gets now more and more duties when Madeleine doesn't have any. Sofia is a great and respected asset for the swedish "kungahus". HJ
ReplyDelete@Sandra 17:11; thanks for speaking truth, some people will always criticize no matter what. Well done Sophia.
