The Princess royal out of her comfort zone. Again a really elegant day time suit in model and colour. Looks like it's silk. And the lace blouse is in one word fantastic

Why "out of her comfort zone"? She looks confident and handles her duties with dignity and a sense of calm.

Can´t help it but it all looks so old-fashioned and backwards. Hasn´t the PR department learned from Kate + William´s recent tour? It´s serious time to modernise...

You cannot modernise a 70+yo who has very determined ideas about what she wants and likes to wear, and where fashion figures in her lifestyle. You work with what you've got , and so far on this trip they and she have done quite well.
This is very definitely not a Kate and William scenario to compare it to.

If one tosses out history, and the way people celebrate the history, is for them to decide. This is a fashion blog. To that end, The first outfit is something Anne has worn before, though I cannot quite remember if it was a wedding, or something else. It is still a beautiful outfit.
The second outfit is different. I am not sure I like the top and bottom together, but then colors of photos can be somewhat deceiving, and in person, this outfit might have been quite lovely.

    5. There's nothing wrong with old-fashioned! Better the kind of clothes women wear today! case in point,
      Princess Anne's niece-in-law in California!

    6. Princess Anne is dressed beautifully!

@Maricoy Why did you need to make an asinine comment? We are not here to debate the wardrobe of a person that is not pictured here or has not made this trip, we are here to discuss Anne.
Because you decided to compare Anne's style to the style of someone you obviously don't like, it is difficult to take your opinion seriously. ~d

Completely agree with you. You are lucky your comment has been accepted here. Mine was not. Although we both communicate anonymous, I sometimes wonder if they can smell it is me. What surprised me even more was the fact that my comments were not that negative. I explained I preferred the second outfit and not the first.

Agree with your reaction to Maricoy. I am not living in the U.K. but when I hear the reactions of some people, I am not surprised that the so called "niece in law from California" nor her husband do not wish to return to the U.K. I hope they will come to the Netherlands together for the Invictus Games as promised.

    Her second outfit is beautiful.
That lovely jacket with the adapted boat neck and panelled lace design that lets the dress underneath peek through suits Anne very well. The length of both the jacket and the skirt are also perfect.

  4. That second outfit is the best I've seen her wear on this trip. The neckline of the jacket is very flattering, and it sets off the pearl necklace really well.

Both of Princess Anne's outfits are lovely, suited for each occasion and just look good on her. She is a woman who works hard at her tasks, and looks terrific for someone who is 70-71 years old. PS: For those who think she should 'update' her hairstyle', do you say that about Princess Beatrice, or the other ladies in Anne's age range. No, you accept them for who they are and the lives they did not choose to live, but have done so with grace and dignity. Ann

Oh my, I could not imagine Princess Anne with a new hairstyle. She has been bouffant all through her public life, teen to present day. The Daily Mail would explode! *Regina

May I ask you something ? To which Princess Beatrice you are referring ?
I don't know any Princess Beatrice in the age range of Princess Anne's

No fashion here. She seems a very down to earth and sensible woman. Siv

  8. The first outfit is serviceable and appropriate. The second outfit is divine. The lace blouse is beautiful, both pretty and feminine. I love the neckline, pearl earrings and the pearl necklace was the perfect choice. The skirt looks great, and works in well with the blouse. Her up style looks terrific.

  9. Her hair and her style of clothes makes her look not only out of date but a lot , a lot of years older.

  10. They do not need to be "modernized" by an agenda of outside dating and divorcing services. If someone wants to start a royal family of their own they should start one elsewhere, not take down historic institutions.

    1. Yes that is the obvious conclusion we can make. If so, that has to be accepted, with some regret ... Queen Silvia and Sonia are roughly 10 years older, or about, than she is, and look better adapted to our time. I repeat IMV this is regrettable since she looks so fit and motivated, and other qualities.

  13. Not a fan of her frock. Too much fabric and workmanship on the top part.
The slim skirt in the end is too full. Too much of too much.
However, the (ethnic) style jacket on the second lot of photos is great.
Is there something symbolic or traditional associated with this jacket?

  14. No doubt she looks out of date and age has nothing to do with it.
