On Wednesday 27 April 2022, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Crown Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette attended the celebration of 2022 King's Day in Maastricht, capital of the province of Limburg. Koningsdag or King's Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Celebrated on 27 April, the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander. In 2020, the celebration of King's Day was going to take place in Maastricht. Due to the measures taken to combat the coronavirus, the festivities could not take place that year.
MAX MARA Pinstriped Cotton and Linen Jacket and Pants
TARA JARMON Virgie Green Tailored jacket and Pharel Green Tailored Pants
TARA JARMON Pink Takito Top
SANDRO Lison Button-up Flared Dress
Happy to see that after 2 years of cancellation 'Koningsdag' can be celebrated all over The Netherlands again. QM looks gorgeous: the pink dress fits her like a glove and the hat is beautiful. The cape combines well with the dress. The princesses look good as well though I don't like the flared pair of trousers worn by the crown princess; I would have opted for a different model. The celebrating king looks quite good in his grey suit with a nice tie.

I completely agree with you.

The King and his youngest daughter are well-dressed and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteMom and two eldest are to much aware of their position and that leads too often to exaggerated behaviour and dito clothing.
Mabel
Agree
DeleteAgree completey Mabel. But the problem is that everyone in the Netherlands like their behaviour, they think it is sponteaneous. Pffff I think it is pathetic.
DeleteMáxima, as usual, is overpowering. People want to see her face, not a huge-brimmed hat. Dear Máxima - it's "King's Day", not "Queen's Day". *Regina
Delete@Iris: not everyone
DeleteLily T.
@*Regina. But I love looking at her hats. They're part of her trademark.
DeleteAnd sometimes I can pick up ideas for going to church on Sundays.
Lovely to see them all. Maxima looks 'pretty in pink'; I do like her cape dress and the cotton candy colour, and then the second longer cape coat on top of it, keeping the look within the same style family. The outfit is not jarring but flows smoothly.
ReplyDeleteThe girls are all dressed according to their individual styles which by now we know so well. I like the youngest daughter's youthful outfit the best.
There is a nice photo on Maxima's IG account where Maxima and the two eldest girls are holding each others coloured purses and the cross-over of colours looks interesting.
Happy Kings (Birth)Day to King Willem Alexander and his family!

Wow - Maxima looks amazing! When she gets it right she's unbeatable in delivering royal glamour. Think all of the girls look great too. Zed.
ReplyDeleteMáxima looks fabulous, this very pretty pink dress is perfect for her, very well accessorized with the vanilla coat. The young ladies all look sharp and appropriately dressed, even the king looks better than usual.

CP Amalia's pants should have been cut like P Alexia's. Although it might not be possible with the vertical stripes. It is P Alexia's green pant suit that I like the best. A pity she is wearing sandals instead of classic shoes. Good to see King Willem-Alexander's brother Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien are also present and his nephews (the sons of Princess Margriet) and their wives. On these photos they cannot be seen very well, on picture n° 5 you can see a glimpse of them.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks very well dressed. The pink color suits her. Princess Ariane has grown a lot lately. Her dress is lovely too. The weather was better today too. A lot of sunshine and less wind. They had a lot of fun in Maastricht. There is a video where the King and Queen and the Princesses are dancing in the street with the people of Maastricht.
The sons of Princess Margriet are the cousins and not the nephews of King Willem-Alexander and Prince Constantijn.
DeleteTerrible outfit princess Laurentien, princess Ariane is best dressed
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima looks divine in this cape fitted dress, the hat suits her beautifully. Her coat and accessories are perfect. The pink topaz earrings are a great addition. The green pantsuit combined with green, pink fleck top looks outstanding, I love this suit, I would wear this in a heartbeat!. The shoes on the model work brilliantly. The pinstripe suit looks wonderful, blending nicely with the grey subtle blouse. Interesting choice of clutch, green, I would never have put these color together, but it works wonderfully, a gorgeous bag. Finally the Lison dress, looks very demure and pretty again a splash of color bright yellow bag, it looks splendid, black shoes, a real treat.
ReplyDeleteThis looked to be a marvellous occasion, online their was footage of the Queen and the Princess's dancing, fantastic.
Queen Maxima looks nice in pink , beautiful color for her. Their daughters , 2 of them dressed OK for young girls but CP Amalia should never wear such a suit in vertical stripes with her figure, plain design I think is the best for her.
ReplyDeleteAva
I think this time Amalia was better dressed than ever, although it's a bit"adult" for a girl of 18. But indeed difficult figure. QM looks fantastic
DeleteI mostly agree with anony8:56. Yes Pr Amalia should probably have had a plain color suit. Vertical stripes should in theory be ok for her, but these are too showy for her. Qn Maxima is fine on all points.
DeleteLove Queen Maxima’s outfit. She looks fabulous. I like the outfits of both Princesses Alexia and Ariane but once again, I think that Catharine Amalia’s outfit is less than flattering. Like the green outfit of Princess Annette but Princess Laurentien’s outfit is totally bizarre. Just why? Great to see this event back in its usual format. AnnieM

On my iPad, I’m not able to put my name into the comment tonight
Maxima as always totally over the top, the cape in combination with the hat she looks like a cardinal. The youngest daughter beautiful and dressed for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteWorst dressed was Princess Laurentien. What was she thinking?
ReplyDeleteBest dressed was Princess Marilene, such a pity you do not have a picture of her lovely yellow dress.
I loved the snarky comment on Dutch television that the female mayor of Maastricht had warned the ladies not to wear too high heels or maybe wear a lower block heel like she wore on the cobbled streets, but that typically Maxima insisted to wear unpractical shoes.

Queen Maxima was my favorite. Her pink outfit looked beautiful and her hat and accessories well choosen. And her hair...styled perfectly and looked so good with that hat!

ReplyDeleteDon't understand the negative comments about Princess Laurentien. She has always been into "pop-art" fashion. We don't see much of her but when we do, she presents herself with a 'BANG'.
ReplyDeleteMost of you have no idea who these families are working with, do you?
ReplyDeletePlease do enlighten us.
DeleteI'm waiting with bated breath for the information.
DeleteHappy to see the royal family they're.wear very pretty.wish the king day agree by God and bless.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to Willem - Alexander and what a stunning display of colours for Koningsdag!
ReplyDeleteMaxima is absolutely glamorous in her flamingo pink dress.
Her hair ,cape and accessories are great as well.
On the fence about Alexia's meadow green suit.
P.ss Laurentien's sartorial choice(who Is a lovely lady) looks so weird...
sadly, my original comments were not included in the lively discussion, have to wonder why, and when did free speech disappear?
ReplyDeleteMaybe a name or nickname would do the trick.
DeleteGive it a try.
