Shortly after returning from Australia, Danish Crown Princess Mary celebrated her close friend Birgitte Handwerk's birthday last weekend. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the 50th birthday party of their friend Birgitte Handwerk. Birgitte’s husband Jeppe Handwerk is one of Crown Prince Frederik’s closest friends since his days in the Danish military.
Before the party, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark attended a service at St. Paul's Church (Sankt Pauls Kirke) in Nyboder. Thereafter, the birthday party took place in the presence of 140 guests at the Sølyst estate in Klampenborg. Crown Princess Mary wore a new tweed coat by Carla Zampatti.
Carla Zampatti Rue St Honore Tweed Coat
Temperley London Black Textured Long Trellis Gown. (Shortened)
Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Yellow Satin Pumps
Shoes just gorgeous. The coat a Carla Zampatti, say no more, she must have purchased it while she was back in Australia.
ReplyDeleteWhat we can see of the dress, beautiful and the length perfect to show off her shoes.
Generally I don't like it when a dress is longer than the coat worn over it (or it has to be a short jacket) and this one is no exception. A shawl would have been a better choice. I like the jacket, but the dress is not my taste. Although I don't like the shoes, I think it would have been better if some of the yellow had returned to the dress or a purse; now they're quite 'visible'.

I like coat the cut and fabric. Mary bought that coat Australian designer when she was recently in Melbourne , Australia .
ReplyDeleteI am not sure about dress and color of the shoes .

Wonderful look ... fresh and modern and a little breaking old dressing /style rules ... love it ...
ReplyDeleteTrès élégants escarpins dont j'aurais bien voulu voir une petite touche de couleur jaune sur sa superbe robe ; quel contraste avec Frederik qui semble plus décontracté sous son manteau ?!
ReplyDeleteMary looks radiant. I love the Carla Zampatti coat just so proud she supports designs from her home country. There is no doubt she bought that in Melbourne it is a great place to shop I can assure you. Mary
ReplyDeleteA no from me.

The dress, the coat, the shoes...every element is sharp and chic from head to toe, with Mary's natural radiance pulling it all together. Love it.

Princess Mary's coat is by the Australian designer Carla Zampatti.
ReplyDeleteOf Italian origin, she moved with her parents to live in Australia in the 1950's where she finished her primary schooling. (Probably a modest Italian migrant family).
In the early 1970's she launched her first collection. She created 30 odd boutiques. Her work also became famous via top name Australian department stores. She had a great following and Princess Mary was one of her regular customers. Her empire grew and grew expanding into accessoris, perfume etc.
In April 2021 she accidentaly had a fall and later died from her injuries.
From two marriages, she had three children and for the moment, they appear to be keeping her empire and fashion name alive.
An elegant sophisticated woman who bought elegance and simplicity to the female fashion world. May she rest in peace.
Thank you for this information. I appreciate it very much. Siv
DeleteYes, thank you. That is more than I had known. ~d
DeleteOne or two points further on Carla Zampatti. .
DeleteAfter more than 50 years of devotion to women's fashion and women in business, she was honored with a State funeral. Over 1.000 attended the service.
It has been said that
“If she was alive, she’d say this is the best-dressed funeral she had ever attended.”
More information (if you're interested) about this remarkable person can be found on ......

Thank you, Deadeggs, I did not know anything about Carla Zampatti.
DeleteShe must have been a remarkable woman and designer.
R.I.P.
@P. the original
DeleteYes she was a remarkable woman in the fashion and business world.
Remarkable also in that it was decided she should have a State funeral.
She was often referred to as the Queen of fashion (in Australia).
Thank you for all the information about Carla Zampatti.
DeleteI am going to look up her creations online.
If the dress is a re-wear, it appears to have been shortened. I don't particularly like either version, but, with the coat she looks great here, and the bright yellow shoes elevate the look.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Princess Mary looks great coat and shoes are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteJust no in every detail,
ReplyDeleteMabel
I like the individual pieces, although I’m not certain I would have combined the 3 of them this way, but on Mary it looks tres chic!
ReplyDeleteThe coat will look fabulous with a tailored business-style skirt or pants outfit. The shoes are of a color that is not easy to match to clothes, and Mary already owns a pair of shoes in this color, so I find them an unusual choice, but what’s not to like about Manolo Blahnik? The elegant Temperley dress I loved in its original floor length, not sure if I would like the tea-dress length without the coat. I have a feeling the shoes would be jarring, and a pair of sparkly or patent leather black heels (lower) would be my preference, S.M.
I love that CP Mary brought a pop of color to her outfit with those gorgeous yellow shoes. I ike her whole look--and how she has had the Temperly gown re-styled. Can't wait to see her wear the new coat more next fall and winter.
ReplyDeleteI always loved Temperley gowns. I also like the way it has been restyled. From what I can see underneath the coat, the gown is not only made shorter but the lining is not white or cream anymore but black, like it better that way.
ReplyDeleteMaybe to go to a birthday party the yellow shoes are OK and they remind us that spring (although it is probably still cold) has arrived in Denmark too. The coat itself looks lovely too. CP Mary is always well dressed but since last winter she is wearing a lot of black clothes.
I love everything about this outfit, converting this gala dress into a cocktail one is just brilliant. Of course I loved it the first time, and I still do in this shorter version. Excellent hair and the shoes are just the cherry on top, she ventured into adding color, and won!
ReplyDeleteCherry
The coat is elegant, stylish and looks fabulous on CP Mary. The yellow shoes are a interesting choice, they are a gorgeous color, give this overall look a splash of color. The overall look is taken up a notch. The dress doesn't appeal to me .
ReplyDeletePerhaps she has a yellow belt or sash on!
ReplyDeleteA sash to go to a birthday party of one of her best friends ?
DeleteBeautiful coat , the latest winter collection In Carla Zampatti boutique's cost $1260 AU . It isn't expensive . She always made her clothes so women could afford to buy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is still cold in Denmark and Sweden; otherwise, out lovely princesses have forgotten it is now well into Spring to wear such dark wintery colors. But I do like the pop of yellow in the heels. Agree with others, there should have been a bit of yellow in the other accessories or clothing to make the match.
ReplyDeleteActually the end of Carla Zampatti's life is tragic ;she went to see la Traviata at Mrs Macquarie's Chair (Out side place in Sydney) March 27th 2021 and slipped on the last 2 steps hit her head was in hospital and sadly died; it should have never happened. As a designer Carla Zampatti's clothes is so beautiful; Princess Mary wears the coat well, I also love the dress.(Tara)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, it is so nice to see the CP couple holding hands as they are attending a private birthday party and do not have to stick to the protocol.
ReplyDeleteThen, the yellow pop of colour is a genial and unexpected contrasting addition to the black classic and sophisticated ensemble.
This MB pumps are to die for.
I like this " deviation" in Mary's usual style.
Frederick looks much dapper than he was in his last outing on Easter day.
The shoes have grown on me, though I am not sure they go with the dress and coat.
ReplyDeleteShe can do no wrong!!!
ReplyDeleteBlack does not suit Mary.
ReplyDeleteIMHO Mary is looking beautiful and elegant and really happy. Marie
ReplyDeleteMary has the same shoes in red. And she already has yellow Gianvito Rossi shoes.
