The Grand Ducal Family held a dinner at Berg Castle in Luxembourg (Château de Berg) for members of the Government and their spouses. Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie welcomed the guests at the entrance of the castle and attended the traditional dinner.
ReplyDeleteGreat colour dress with good neckline for HGDS, although it might be a tid bit short. Overall a fantastic look with wonderful styled hair.
ReplyDeleteGDMT also looks wonderful. I in particular like the necklace she's wearing.

DeleteAgree, a few more inches on Duchess Stephanie's skirt would have made the dress perfect.
Stephanie looks fabulous! Love her dress, hair, and shoes. I think the pants of the grand duchess are a tad too short but, otherwise, I think she looks good. I appreciate that all the women and many of the men wore blue which, I'm guessing, is a tribute to Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I think Stephanie looks dreadful - just look at the group photo - she looks so drab and old-fashioned. For me, the neckline does her no favours - just an expanse of winter white flesh. The hair styles are too juvenile too, to be taken seriously - again see the last photo - just unkempt. She seems a lovely lady - theres no denying the warmth in her smile, but a woman in her position should look amazing. Im not talking cutting edge fashion, but just a touch of style with simple modern designs that flatter her shape and colouring. *the lady on the row behind looks fab in a sharp suit in a brighter blue. The one positive is that the fitted style is very slimming on her. Very occasionally she looks amazing, and I would really like to see her shine, as a modern mother and royal. Slim/tapered pants seem to suit, and bold colours up top are useful.
ReplyDeleteThe Grand Duchess is always pushing boundaries (albeit not always successfully) but she looks particularly young and fresh at the moment. Zed.
As far as table top dressing goes, Stephanie's dress is underwhelming. Since this was a dinner, and they would be seated, Maria Teresa is better versed in that area. That being said, this may have been a case of wearing what she had that that is blue, and as we know, Stephanie doesn't have a lot of clothes. What she has done better than so many before her is wearing good undergarments. Outstanding! Her dress is well fitting, and she looks slimmer wearing a fitted garment. Lastly, I would have liked to have seen a nude shoe. The black shoe looks too harsh to my eye with the dress. It is great to see Guillaume and Stephanie at something more official than art installations. MT, as I said, wins for best appearance from the table up. I am assuming the "necklace" is actually a part of the blouse. Where I think it falls apart is when we see her full length. I don't care for the colors of the top and pants together. It looks like a mis-match to me, "like these pants go with everything". I do feel like we see these pants, or their twins, a lot. I also think they are too short. I would have preferred a plain shoe given the detail at the neckline. ~d
ReplyDeleteShe looks much slimmer than before. I think she lost the baby fat slowly but surely. Her legs are lovely now that she wears heels. When she wore pants most of the bloggers said she should wair dresses and skirts to show her legs. Now that she does "the neckline does her no favours - just an expanse of winter white flesh". HGD Stephanie has a fair skin type. Not everyone has sun tanned skin all the time. Maybe her hair could be done better but it is not worser than Maxima's or Sophie Wessex (lately) or P. Anne.
ReplyDeleteI I think fashion is not a priority for her nor for her husband HGD Guillaume.
Quite frankly, I wish some readers would give Stephanie a break and stop I wish I I wish some readers would stop criticising poor Stephanie. In my opinion, her fitted dress looks very pretty and feminine and suits her. A brooch would have been a suitable accessory. It is my impression that she is fully concentrating on her role as mother of the heir and that she has no desire or ambition to OUTSHINE her mother-in-law, who is concentrating on looking younger than ever. You can tell from old photos that Stephanie used to be very fashionale but has obviously changed her priorities. She deserves our respect.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this dress fits her quite well. I agree on some other points by Virginia, particularly about criticism. I just regret the absence of some piece of jewelry, preferably some necklace.

ReplyDeleteThe Grand Duchess looks good in this bejewelled collar blouse, Its different and she carries it off well. The overall look is chic and stylish. The colour of the pants would look good the same shade as the blouse, but that's my humble opinion. Her hair looks great, love this short, chic style. Stephanie looks lovely in this dress, but the overall look is lacking panache and polish so to speak. The dark, stark shoes are also problematic, in this case. A brooch, colourful silk scarf something to lift this outfit.
ReplyDeleteVirginia, calm down! People can disagree about fashion, nobody is disrespecting her as a person. Also becoming a mother doesn't erase your sense of fashion, what a concept, it may change your body sometimes, and if it does, most women adjust their style, same as with aging, loosing/gaining weight etc.,
ReplyDeleteThis a fashion blog, and it's refreshing to read different takes as such, otherwise we would wear uniforms.
So heartwarming to see all this support for Ukraine being shown from European royals also through their clothes colour.
ReplyDeleteStephanie is nice, elegant and well groomed.
I think Maria Teresa wears too heavy makeup.
Just a cream foundation and a light contouring/blurring makeup would do wonders IMO.
Her hair is spot on though.
