The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Jamaica on the 4th day of their Caribbean tour which they make on behalf of the Queen to mark her Platinum Jubilee. On the first day of their visit, The Duke and Duchess visited Trench Town, the birthplace of reggae music in Kingston. They joined some young football players and visited the Trench Town Culture Yard Museum where Bob Marley used to live. The Duchess wore a coral and turquoise 1950s vintage dress by Willow Hilson.

Quel magnifique couple qui a l'air de beaucoup s'éclater ; j'adore Kate dans cette robe à bandes colorées et décollete carré dont la coupe étoffe particulièrement sa silhouette élancée !
ReplyDeleteWilliam and Catherine seem to be having a great time, even though the first leg of their tour had to be altered. Her dress has a playful vibe. Because she is slim, the horizontal stripes look great on her. I like the wider straps as opposed to the spaghetti straps of the model. Looks as though she is wearing pearl drop earrings. I love how they smile at each other. The photo of William in the bobsled with Kate pretending to push him is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove this fun dress on the Duchess. I would prefer the wedge shoes she wore in Belize.

Duchess of C looks young and fresh in that lovely summer dress, and a bonus it is knee length. I think she should have worn a pair of espadrilles instead of low heel sandals. William is dressed appropriately, but it seems he brought only one pair of brown shoes for the entire trip!

I love this dress. It is colorful and fun. I also like the bracelet from Steelz & Mantraz, which appears to be a gift. The design is called "She's Royal" and can be embossed with any phrase one likes. I wonder what hers says.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this dress! She looks fantastic, happy, relaxed and confident. These two are such a great team.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dress but their happiness makes it stand out more.

Such a great vintage dress. Even though I prefer the spaghetti straps, I understand why she chose to alter to the wider strap, it still looks fantastic. I am not sold on the shoes, however. This look calls for more of a sandal, her espadrilles would have looked great.

Agree to all you've written, Chel; a different pair of shoes and it would have been perfect.

This dress is a fantastic find. I absolutely love that it is vintage and still works today. The colors could not be more perfect and the silhouette is lovely on Kate. I like how they were able to use the shawl to rework the straps and bodice detail. Unfortunately, the shoes are a terrible fit with the dress. That is the only disappointment here. It is so nice to see a little affection between the two. They really seem to be enjoying this trip. ~d
ReplyDeleteYou expressed exactly how I see this outfit.

This is the kind of dress to wear in a hot climate. Good neckline better than on the model. Good length too. The pearl earrings are a bit out of place here. She should have worn earrings in one of the colors of her dress or artistic metal or wooden earrings which reminds something of Jamaica. I wonder why she did not continue to wear her sandals or espadrilles instead of the sling back shoes. She is dressed better and better each day.
ReplyDeleteI wear pearl drop earrings almost every day, regardless of what I wear. To me pearls are a classic piece of jewelry that can fit in anywhere, any time. Perhaps Catherine feels the same way.
DeleteWilliam and Catherine make a great couple & team - a real asset to the House of Windsor!
ReplyDeleteJoyful and lively colours on this occasion.
In these pictures, William reminds me very much of his uncle Prince Edward, especially in the last.
This is a beautiful dress, I love the upper bodice and shoulder straps. The choice of shoes I love. The Duchess looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is gorgeous. I just love it. The vibrant colours and the retro styling are just perfect for the occasion. This might well be my favourite outfit of the tour so far--just. The photos of the couple together, clearly enjoying themselves so much are superb. Two years since the world shut down for Covid, isn't it fantastic to see this kind of tour again?
ReplyDeleteLove this vintage dress--and really like the remake for Catherine. I also like her slingback shoes--they elevate the sundress a bit if she has to go straight to a dinner or informal evening event. I do think her sandals (the ones she wore in Belize) would have been a great choice too but I'm sure she had a reason to choose the shoes over the sandals. William looks great too. They both look relaxed and their smiles and laughter show what a wonderful time they were having.
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty summer frock.
