The Countess of Wessex is making a four-day visit to New York for a series of events championing Women’s Rights and the Commonwealth. The Countess first visited the Queen Elizabeth Garden. During this visit, the Countess met with Consuls General from across the Commonwealth and planted a rosemary bush to mark Commonwealth Day.
Thereafter, the Countess opened the new office of the 250 year old St. George's Society of New York, and received information about their work to support vulnerable people with British and Commonwealth heritage in the city. The Countess met with academically gifted students from across the Commonwealth, who have received scholarships from the Society.
Afterwards, the Countess attended a UN Commonwealth Day Reception at The Yale Club in New York. At the reception, the Countess met with representatives from Commonwealth UN Member States and visiting delegations for the Commission on the Status of Women.
The Countess of Wessex attended a briefing on the impact of the conflict in Ukraine on women and girls in the presence of UN Women representatives and representatives of various NGOs. The Countess of Wessex spoke with experts and leading policy makers as they discussed how to make international efforts to protect the human rights of women and girls in Afghanistan more effective.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Countess Sophie! The third picture, featuring a close-up of the Countess, is absolutely gorgeous. I'm not a fan of the leather dress, but all other outfits are very nice, especially the Max Mara coat. The deep blue/black accessories really set it off.
ReplyDeleteIt rarely happens, but for once I like a VB dress despite the busy print (which appears to be UN cause related when you look at the pattern). I'm not so sure about the earrings because while they are very pretty, their colour doesn't match the colour of the dress very well for me.
ReplyDeleteThe CoW is also well dressed in the other photos. The white coat is gorgeous. Personally, I prefer her hair a bit out of the face (updo or ponytail), because hanging loose on the shoulders it seems to further elongate her face

Sophie looks wonderful in the navy blue Victoria Beckham dress. Added bonus of having her hair loose and nicely styled.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect the leather dress to fit as nicely as it seems to, but it looks good. Perhaps not wearing black boots would have broken the shoulder to toe column of black.
I also like the blouse she is wearing under the green jacket. Lovely colours for this time of year.

Love her soft and natural make-up on photo N° 3. Good choice of outfits for this trip to New-York.
ReplyDeleteAbout the leather dress : would like to see her with bare arms in this dress. The black leather boots are going very well with this dress.
I was thrilled to see Sophie in the leather dress. It is so out of character for her. Then I saw the length. The length and boots have spoiled the look. I can't understand why she wears her dresses and skirts so long. I am not a fan of the shirt she is wearing under the dress. It is so thin and form-fitting that is not flattering on her arms, and it looks off to me with the weight of the leather. I still give her an A for effort. Black in New York is very appropriate. She has put more effort into her hair and makeup and it certainly shows. ~d
ReplyDeleteSophie looks fabulous--all of her choices are excellent for her activities. Her hair and makeup are well done and she looks amazing. Personally, I am not a fan of the leather dress but Sophie is pulling it off. Both of the looks for Victoria Beckham are great choices for Sophie--the blue and green really make her pretty blue eyes really pop. She is really one of Britain's best ambassadors.
ReplyDeleteSophie looks marvellous. I especially love the green pantsuit, stylish and smart. The white coat is beautiful.

DeleteI agree she looks great and her smile is priceless and sweet as always.
Love, love, love the black leather dress and the way she styled her ensemble. Super cool.
